The time is saved mainly because of the missing jingle. The layout is not perfect but has a lot of cards that can be easily played, especially from the sixth and the seventh pile.
Nach: Judging... (not that there's much to judge here)
Nach: This is not even remotely entertaining, so this cannot end up in our tiers. This game is not trivial, and card games don't have a blanket ban in the vault. Since this is a speed record for a non-trivial game, accepting as improvement to existing run.
I'm voting yes, just because this is TASed. Game choice is probably not prime, but it obviously does complete the game.
100% would probably be "finish all solvable shuffles", but that numbers in the 7 quintillion range.

Neat. I actually sort of like watching this, because you can almost follow everything that's going on but not quite. I appreciate the optimization that can go into ending input early, for instance. I'd be curious to know more about where the improvements come from.
That being said, it's still not very entertaining. Meh.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically.
Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.)
Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html)
Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature!
Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
So we had a four-month discussion on allowing board games in the vault tier, that doesn't have a clear conclusion to it. What is the judges' consensus on that topic?
Anyway, no vote. In my opinion this belongs in the vault, and if it's not allowed there, it should be rejected.

There isn't much of a consensus, as I still need some more input from a few people on the subject (most importantly, the site admins). I still stand by my post in that thread (i.e. I'll only allow changing Vault criteria as part of a larger site change, the proposed four tier system). If you want to discuss this, please do so in that topic.
Keep in mind that this run is an improvement to a pre-split publication of this game, which was auto-split to the Vault. Rejecting is therefore not an option without some other (good) reason. Instead, focus on figuring out what needs to happen to the current publication, as the same would likely apply to this submission as well. Probably elevate to Moons by default.

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
Interesting.
So the fact that the vault does in fact already contain board game runs should be a strong argument to, you know, allow board game runs to the vault in the first place.
Given the poor viewer reactions to that earlier movie, it clearly does not belong in moons.

Or, it is a mistake caused by automation. It's really not a strong argument for anything.

Considering that (1) that run clearly does not belong in moon or star tier, and (2) by site policy we never un-publish any run, it follows that yes, this does belong in the vault. And since the vault contains board games by precedent, it follows that the vault can accept board games.
Anyway, regarding this run, since it is an improvement to an existing movie, it shouldn't be rejected. Since the existing movie is in the vault, AND has low audience response, AND this submission also has low audience response, it follows that this run also belongs in the vault.
So the vault contains board games, and should continue to contain board games. I don't see any problem with that.

Reply in other thread (because constant crossposting is stupid).
Also fixed the Solitaire publication tier to Moons because it is Vault-ineligible. (We have previous precedent of uplifting Vault movies to Moons, too, like this run).

For reference:
This TAS is 196 frames faster. However, the actual gameplay improvement is 26 frames. 170 of the frames saved are merely from turning off the music option. This TAS uses a different layout than the one used in the published TAS.
By the way, the improvement posted by the author makes it 231 frames faster (gameplay improvement is 61 frames).
I don't agree with turning off the music option, but a gameplay improvement is an improvement. I was hoping though that the author spent more time with making this (like searching over many possible layouts and optimizing them).
This was an alright movie. This went by very fast, yet it was a little difficult to follow the moves made (not that it matters). Entertainment wise, it went by quickly that it didn't have a chance to bore me.
Weak Yes vote.
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
