Megaman: the Power Battle in 03:26 • Takes no damage. • Uses enemy weapons. • Uses Bass(supposedly the hardest of the three characters to use because of his flighty "slide" move). • Plays Megaman 7 course, the most difficult course in the game. • Plays on Difficulty Level 4. • Plays on Time Limit Level 4(59.99 Seconds). • Defeats Wily Escape Pod. • Uses Save States to "predict" enemy patterns. I was bored and decided to do this run. Overall, this was a good hour's worth of work or so(only because I know the game front and back) with about 7 retries and, according to the recording, 331 undos(Save State undos). 12,268 frames of animation in 3 minutes, 26 seconds, this is definately a fun movie to watch. Especially when I fight Freezeman, Turboman, and the Wily Machine. Hah. Why am I posting this here instead of actually submitting this? Simply put, I wasn't sure about the rules, so I decided to play it safe. According to the rules, the site only accepts Famicom, MegaDrive, and Super Famicom movies, but I notice they have an edited version of FinalBurn Alpha, not to mention the fact their "starting point" list of movies includes a few Arcade games(such as both Rockman games), so. . . Anyway, enjoy! Note: You must use FinalBurn Alpha v0.2.94.98 to view this Input Movie File. I recommend the patched version, but the unpatched version apparently works, according to the document. Any version above v0.2.94.98 will not work! I've tested it on the latest release(v0.2.95.23) and it failed to work. If anyone wants to encode this movie into AVI format, feel free to do so. The best I could get was a 58MB file, however.

I haven't played this game before. Can you only do one course with one character in one run?

Yep. During one game, you can only use one character per-person in only one course. Say like. . . Rockman playing Rockman 1-3. Or Forte playing Rockman 4-6. Any character can do any course, but you cna only do one course per session. Otherwise I would've tried to go the whole three courses in one shot. Same goes for Rockman 2: the Power Fighters and its three courses. The "Retrieve the Power Parts" course, "Rescue Roll" course, and "Stop Wily" course. But in Rockman 2, Duo(who looks like Gutsman stomped on him a few times. . .) is playable. There's also more moves and whatnot, too. Not just for you, but for the enemies as well.

".fr" is a Final Burn Alpha recording file. You need to find the ROM (don't ask), run the game in FBA, then choose "Replay Input." For some reason, FBA pauses the game when the movie ends, so you have to press Pause to watch the ending. I dug this, although there are quite a few missed shots (a time attack no-no).

Hey, cut me some slack. This was my first attempt at a speed-run in any game. Heh.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to more work on arcade games using FBA. I'm trying to get something myself.

Yes, well, unfortunately for me. . .Junkman held me up. God damned Junk Shield. . . But everyone else is immensely faster, now. I also employeed some damned creative tactics, if I do say so myself.

(BUMP!) Hello all! I've actaully just completed a run of this, and will post a WIP later. I played Megaman on the Megaman 1-3 course, had an in-game time of 1:05 and an actual time of 3:10. Mind you, this is just a test run, and am looking to get a "perfect" movie here. I think it would be very possible to get the in-game time below 1:00, but I'm going to need suggestions (possible alternate weapons, different course, different tactics, you know the standard stuff). I'll get that WIP posted as soon as I get home from school.

This is a quick speedrun of the arcade game "Mega Man: The Power Battle" using Bass and playing on the Mega Man 7 path on the hardest DIP settings possible. (Though it's hard to tell.) I never get hit once and even use some unique solutions to weapon failure when I can (such as the fight with Dr. Wily). It aims for the fastest time, entertainment value, and victory with Bass who's the hardest of the three to use due to his unique "dash" move. (Though I used it to my advantage a couple times, as you'll see.) There are some mistakes which I plan to one day do over, but all and all, it should still prove interesting. I also made a slight error by not ending the recording on the last actual point of input -- the "high score" screen. That will be fixed as well if there's interest. YouTube Link FinalBurn Alpha v0.2.94.98 Rerecording Movie (Requires FinalBurn Alpha v0.2.94.98 Rerecording, "Mega Man: The Power Battle Asia ROM ("megaman.zip"), and about three minutes of your time.) I'm basically submitting this to ask if it's worth officially submitting or not. And...I figure it's probably worth some good payback on some of the submissions I've "poo-pooed" in the last couple years. ;P

HEY! Someone else did a TAS of this fun little game. While watching I have a few questions: vs Shademan: it's actually faster to use the medium charge-shot when he's just standing in front of you. Vs everyone else: you did a nice job using the weapons you did. But why not the weakness weapons? They hit MUCH harder than anything else. Even over a charged shot. Vs Pumpkin: did you test point-blank shots? It might be possbile to get multiple hits off of one blast if you're super close. I know it's not the same, but perhaps my TAS of this game might be helpful to you: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KTAq3Z_rIAQ I lost the .fba file ages ago, after I had put a lot of work into this only to get into endless debates about why this sitee doesn't accept these videos. You totally have my support on this one though!

Well, the short version is that it seems there's no way to verify how long the movie actually is. Something about how we need to know how fast the game runs in FPS in order to know how much time has actually passed or something to that effect. And it seems that noone is interested in adding the little feature or 2 to make it work.

Interesting, but I would rather have a movie that didn't fast-forward though the ending scene. Other than that, it was interesting. There was so little variation in the weapons used, though, it seemed...
