I attempted to search for this and found some topics but I am having no luck. The program was running perfectly for the 1st couple times I opened it, and then around the 3rd time it would fail to open, but I see it running in my processes. I attempted to move all items from the dll folder to the main folder to no luck, as well as the config.ini change mentioned, no luck. I am running windows 10 64-bit.

Replying to this because I solved the problem, but the solution was confusing. I was attempting to test 2 player functionality with an XBOX ONE controller, and when I plugged it in, and attempted to restart the program was when the problem started. Once I unplugged the XBOX ONE controller, bizhawk started with no issue.

I don't know what "the config.ini changed mentioned" is, but bizhawk works with xbox one controllers, and if plugging one in blows up your bizhawk, try deleting your config.ini file

I can indeed confirm that this is happening. I recently got an XBone pad to use on my PC, and things began going south with BizHawk on Windows 10 Pro x64 when keyboard shortcuts just stopped working... then today, it started just appearing as a process and not an application. I found this thread, unplugged my XBone pad... and BizHawk worked again. Plugged XBone pad back in, went back to non-functionality. Tested with both my existing config, and a fresh instance. I'd be more fussed about this if it weren't for the fact that my DualShock 4 still works fine, and I just got the Pokkén Tournament gamepad today, which works out of the box on the PC, in BizHawk, perfectly.

I guess ill have to test it in a windows 10 VM. Not really the kind of thing I expected to be affected by OS.

As a sort of addenum, having the XBone controller present also affected DOSBox for me; it would try to load but instead choke and freeze at the splash screen. Again, removing the controller made it work properly.

bad news, everyone. i can run bizhawk just fine on a windows 10 physical system while an xbox one pad is plugged in. I'll have to debug it in visualstudio on someone's computer.
