Hi, I've done a few tas movies on Dolphin for NSMBW, and I'm having trouble with in game random variables. The trouble mainly appears in ghost houses where boos spin in circles. The game chooses a random location for the boos to appear, and when I play the movie, they appear in a different location than they were when I recorded the movie, ruining the entire run. There are also random in game variables like where flying bocks and certain sprites appear, and these can be as destructive. In Soig's run, he had to pass a ghost house as well, but he didn't seem to be troubled by the ramdomly appearing boo circles and other sprites. Is there something wrong with my emulator, recording process, the movie itself or the way I replay the movie? I am using the newest stable version of Dolphin (5.0). Thanks:)

oh no I had both of these on. okay, but what does this have to do with in-game random variables? Should I play my movie in read-only mode or read+write mode?

When the game is running in single core and recording a TAS, the game emulator tries to be deterministic (same actions will always get the same results).

Thanks. I wish I had known this a lot sooner. I spent nearly three ours on a run for New Super Mario World U (An earlier game by NewerTeam) and I ended up failing because of the random variable in the ghost house.

I know you can do this on GC TAS Input window by right clicking on the button you wanna autofire, but idk if it applies for Wii TAS Input
Current: Rayman 3 maybe? idk xD Paused: N64 Rayman 2 (with Funnyhair) GBA SMA 4 : E Reader (With TehSeven) TASVideos is like a quicksand, you get in, but you cannot quit the sand
