It seems I forgot that I had hacked the (E) version instead of the (U) version. The codes I posted have the wrong addresses for the (U) version, but I would assume that you can just shift them 0x31 bytes down. The battle looked good. How hard was it to manipulate both characters to that small amount of HP?

Given the initial stats of the party, the odds of the battle happening this way were about 1/8000. Luckily Maxim doesn't need to brought to 1 HP to have enough IP for the Camu battle though.

I just finished the optimization of world's most difficult trick, which is 40 frames faster than currently published TAS. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/30661533/WMDT.smv While the solution in the currently published TAS is optimal with respect to number of block moves, it fails to account for switching block selection, and thus the internal block indices. Including these aspects in the statespace of the puzzle did increase the calculation time a fair bit however :p.

While I still have some ambition to finish the Ancient Cave TAS some day and maybe optimize some of the puzzles, a full regular playthrough TAS requires a too large time investment for me at the moment. I believe I started optimizing the Alunze colored block puzzle about a year ago, but I never finished it.

If you didn't spot it on the main page, and you didn't find it in the thread, chances are the answer is "No." Sorry!

Apparently, its down to 7 minutes. I'm surprised no one has made a TAS of this. http://www.twitch.tv/jeedunit/c/5276799

So how exactly is this glitch being pulled off? (Sorry, twitch streams don't play well at all on my browser) I notice Maxim goes into a Spell Shop in town and starts replicating this glitched text box everywhere, kinda like Earthbound. This would be very cool to TAS, especially if the time could be cut down even more! edit: Thanks for posting the link, Samsara! Whoa... I was always curious about that bugged config menu. The game seemed rushed in a couple of ways (the garbled screens in the Ancient Cave and Dual Blade room, for example), looking back. This has ACE potential written all over it. It'd be awesome if someone messed around and changed Maxim's sprite to Erdrick and switched the music to Dragon Warrior 1's overworld theme :D

I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

So JeedUnit made a new WR video a month ago with time 5:36.16 (starting from naming Maxim character) and I'm trying reproduce it, I cannot do it on old man part he did in the video. I tried save-loading every single line on the old man glitched dialog up until around 200th pressed down, I'm not getting the part with "99 magic jar" screen (well I did on 97th pressed down but not the right one), It seemed he play it normally, not frame-advancing precision, so any pass 200 down is far too long compared to how long it took for him to get that. What did I do wrong? perhap different emulator making it happen differently? I tried this on bizhawk (bsnes core), his video right at beginning looked like done on snes9x but which version? I can tell he used USA Lufia 2 (see crc32 check) As far as I can reproduce is: 1. Level up to 2 (make sure get max hp is not 31) 2. glitch by going to config music, press left, leave screen 3. save game at church, L+R+select+start 4. savestate on 4 load slot screen, load game 5. use 8 potion on character 6. try glitch again, check to see if character go to 0 hp (if it doesnt, go back #4) 7. go to old man in secret cave, he'll glitch dialog <--- stuck on this part I tried to PM JeedUnit on youtube and twitch few days ago, I noticed he was online on twitch yesterday (he changed status to valentine day stuff), but didn't answer my PM? It's driving me crazy, can anyone figure this out?

On BizHawk, The credit roll text are shaking ? It don't appear to do that at all on snes9x. What are recommended emu to TAS? I have not tried Lsnes.

well lsnes is one of the recommended emulators,i don't get the question but it's the easiest to use in my opinion

Well I was asking about which emu is accurate enough for Lufia 2. Pretty dumb question so nevermind.. I gave LSNES a try, it uses same bsnes core but the core version is older than BizHawk (LSNES is 85, Biz is 87). But credit roll text isn't shaky on LSNES surprise surprise.. guess I'll use LSNES to run it.
