I guess that one doesn't use the pipe glitch, which for me makes the run more interesting, but it's certainly possible to cut at least 5 minutes off that run if comparing and if you play it right.

we had calculated a time of 25 minutes at best before we knew about the pipe glitch (during the dream team constest)

Hello. I'm the one who did the run on Speed Demos Archive (and I decided to use a different alias on this forum, for reasons even I don't know), and I will have to say that seeing a glitch-based run of this game sounds like it'd be a very interesting idea. As far as using every one of Mario's forms at least once: I'm really hoping that occurs in the resulting run. Mainly because they all have some sort of merit to them. I really don't think the bells are necessary at all - they add time to the movie and, as previously stated, the minigames are SLOW. You're better off waiting in the level to get a powerup than getting one from any of those games. Also, is there any way anyone here could test a theory of mine regarding the Pumpkin Zone boss (the witch)? I claimed in the comments of my run on SDA that she teleports after getting hit with ANYTHING. I'm curious to know if I was right.

Right, that's a boss you'll want to use stomps on rather than fireballs.

FODA, I'm watching your run, and I'm only at the beginning of Pumpkin Zone 4, but man, I hope you don't pipe glitch the entire game. It's immensely unentertaining to watch, at least in my opinion. I'm gonna watch the rest of the run though, there may be more things you can do with it. But just falling through some bricks then beating the level? While fast, it's not interesting. EDIT: I've been thinking of doing a TAS of anything, and I'm currently searching for a game to do. If this run is either on hold or done for, this might be something I might be looking at. Would a Mario game be too ambitious for a first time TASer? The Mario games on this site are incredibly high quality, and it seems like a big project to take on ANY Mario game.

- my English may lack because I'm German - I'm making a TAS of this game right now. (It would be my first TAS) Are there any time-saving glitches excepting the pipe glitch? Could I use the bubble glitch anyhow? I'm in the second moon level (there are many stars inside) I've already finished the tree section.

I can introduce a TAS movie recorded by ism, done on Japan V1.2. * part1 part2 part3 * afaik, vbm is not available He describes glitches of the game on his website (though it's in Japanese). * ISM / Movies * ISM / Super Mario Land 2 Tricks And... I don't know any glitches :P Edit: see also SML2 Glitch Collection Edit: Replaced flv links
I am usually available on Discord server or Twitter.

Wow. The video you posted there is much more impressive than the one I'm working at... I'm unsure whether to go on or not.

That video doesn't use all time saving techniques. (from a quick watch, I can tell it doesn't get a 1 pixel boost from every block he passes), and he probably doesn't worry about lag either. edit: yes, he lagged A LOT on the last level of the tree world.

yeah, but it's really entertaining! That's an important point to me! EDIT: Question: is it possible to 1-pixel boost in the hippo level (with the bubble) ?

Regardless of how many pixel boosts this run gets, it's a lot more fun to watch than repeated use of that pipe glitch.

I'm working on a new TAS because my old one sucks. There were too many mistakes in it. I found out that the boost doesn't work everytime so I try to manage to do other actions sometimes instead of just "missing every block" = boosting.

Mugg: Are you going to do a TAS which includes all levels (Not skipping them with the pipe glitch)? That would be interesting to see.

There are levels that you don't HAVE to do anyway, so you could include them as a "100%" run. Interestingly, the pipe glitch can be used to get an incorrect level completion total, for example by touching a "main goal" tile in Wario's castle rather than beating Wario.

-I keep writing this sentence everytime I post in an english forum: My english lacks because I'm German, sry- I'm still prefering to have a "pipe glitch" and an any% version of the game. 100% are all levels I think!? I'm making an any% run. Question: What do I have to put in while in a bubble to fly horizontally? EDIT: too late =P EDIT2: I'm now in the space world EDIT ... ehm 3: I've new questions. 1. What does count? The time of the given input or the time till the "THE END" screen is shown? How to find out the time? 2. Is there a programm to put several .vbm's together? Making one single .vbm isn't very comfortable =F

@ Alter: Thank you. @ S@G: Well, thanks. But like you said it's really far from perfect. There are many things to improve in it... But nevertheless thank you =)

Everyone needs to stop making SML2 runs. Why? Because i've already made one! It runs about 26 minutes, but i'm still 'polishing' it, so it could be 24 minutes or so after i'm done. Anyone have any suggestions, though? I really didn't know this game had any glitches!

Um, so I need suggestions. I have seen the You-Tube glitch video, but I still don't understand. How do you do the pipe glitch, the bubble glitch, the 'skip Wario' glitch, and the 'ant level in under 15 seconds' glitch? I really don't think the Space world is that bad, by the way. It's the Turtle one that gets me.

Someone else (I think it was FODA) already made a 14 minute speedrun. I have the video if anyone needs proof. Or do a search.
