There is, admitably, a HUGE amount of flexability for a TAS regard. I mainly go through each area until it's complete, then go on to the next. How you approach things can be completely different, since there's a lot of areas that you have to L-warp out of.

Good start. However, I'd go after the switch after Mr. Frosty, instead of the route you were at the end of the video. The reason being is that once you get beyond that wall, you can keep going to an area that's a dead end, then restart back at the switch (as I post in my notes). BTW, to anybody that reads them and is confused on the numbering, download the maps at GameFAQs. Then it'll make sense.

When it said Area 2 Room 8 - Up Route through Bricks I'm like..... WTF? And then I found out what it meant and I have to watch my whole thing over again which I've done many times and getting sick of. As long as I have a fun time palying KatAM I'll be a happy old man. In 40 years. (I'm not even close to old :P) Sir VG: I use the GameFAQs maps VERY OFTEN because I get stuck alot :P. I must admit, I haven't had Amazing Mirror for a long time. Maybe a little under a year or so.

UPDATE! Part 1 is complete! A run that is 907 frames faster than a previous run that was up for, like, 10 minuets before being taken down for a VERY improtant mistake. Right now I'm thinking this will either turn into a multi-man project (like Battletoads or SMB3 runs) or a competition (like Lolo 2)

It's unfortunate that you can't use multiplayer to your advantage. A TAS with 4 player split screen, each one heading to a different boss would be an amazing sight.

That would shorten a run by AT LEAST around 14 minuets. Maybe a little less, but oh well. It would be a time-saver. Well, maybe. Isn't there an option under Multiplier that allows you to paly the normal game in 4-player mode? If so, how would you TAS every Game Boy at once. And how would a TAS of 4 work? I don't think so.

I think a multi-player run should be seperately categorized. Also, I don't think getting missile ability before Moonlight Mansion and backtracking after the switch after Mr. Frosty would be a good idea considering you could just continue and kill the boss (with wheel) and come back some time later when you have unlocked the missile pedestal of Olive Ocean Switch 1. At least I'd avoid such a backtracking situation and hope for a chance that you have missile equipped and warp out of one of the many dead ends - then you can go back to the Moon Light switch. I'm working on it.

Hum... there's a walkthrough on GameFAQs that kinda goes all around and follows what you said. I think it's by gravy229. EDIT: Nevermind, it goes in order of area. EDIT EDIT: Nevermind AGAIN. It dosen't just go area by area.

And here is up to King Golem following GameFAQs' walkthrough. Note for King Golem I use Fighter because Whell does HORRID damage to King Golem. It would take a minute longer with Wheel. And the next room I go in has a Whellie anyway :P.

Stone > Fighter against King Golem. You can rip through him very VERY quickly with Stone, which can be picked up in the switch room. And wheel does crap damage to every boss, so don't be surprised. -- Got done watching part 1, and for the most part it's a good start. One big complaint is the Mr. Frosty battle. You move too far forward to suck up the Waddle Dees. You can get both of them without having to move over the block. And although minor, I wonder if the last transformation (at the end of the video) to Missile is really necessary. I think it would be better just to run to the door.

I just found out Wheel is very very crappy on all bosses :P. I'll edit Stone into that run soon. Expect it in maybe 3 hours. EDIT: forgot to put up the video file. :P Stupid me. Here it is, for real.

Watching the new video you posted. The room where you used to get missile and instead climb up just feels...really bad. I don't know how much slower it is compared to just floating up, but it feels really awful. Edit: (I float most of the way up the right side, jumping on the right platforms and I get to the door at about the same time you have, but I'm doing it in real time.) And even though you lose a little time eating stone and not wheeling to the end of the room, the boss fight will make up for it. With stone, I can about kill him before I hit the floor...in real time.

Yeah, That room does look...... just bad now that I watch it. I'm going to compare Sir VG's route and gravy229's route and compare how many rooms you'll have to go through. Edit: Sir VG, your route takes 404 rooms.

I would say grab the 2nd stone monster, not the first (much like MUGG's current KATAM TAS). It would give you a little extra wheel time. Also, try floating over towards King Golem more before using stone. Then you get more hit time while dropping.

Getting wheel, fighting boss with it and getting a new wheel afterwards is about 100 frames faster than using stone according to my testings. Anyway, here's a new version. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/489010575/MUGG-KAM%20v3%2C100.vbm (I'll probably go back and improve the part with the underwater cave treasure as it looks improvable) I can't figure out how to make the kirbys inhale big blocks...

You have to start inhaling and they'll do the same. That part is definatly going to be one of the hardest parts. So far yours seems to look good. I wonder if I should even continue with this seeing as you'll probably improve every movie I make :P.

That looks fantastic MUGG. Only things to note is really in regards to where you ended. First, in the room where you mixed for wheel, skip that and just return to the room (or save the mix for later). As for getting the other Kirbys to inhale, stand at about the left ladder, face right, and start inhaling (if you're too close to the stone, it won't move). That's where I usually am to make it work. Getting rid of the rest of their abilities is a smart move, though.

You made a movie, I can help, I add on to movie WITH help It's a win-win situation, ain't it? I guess you could avoid getting Laser, but it is helpful (and saves 2 frames) in the long run. Edit: I/You may have to go back and instead get Missile from the two Minis if Moonlight Mansion is the next destination through the Purple-Left Door.

Problems: 1: You missed a small chest in the room prior to the large block room. 2: You missed a chest in the room after you mixed for minis. Eat the large stone to get that, or mix for something that can break open a peg (hammer or stone). 3: Eat up (and spew) the other kirbys abilities to save time. 4: Make sure you visit the room in the upper left door when you go to the large block room. 5: No need to collect the right 1-UP in the room behind the large block.

1. I started re.... nevermind. 2. So that's where it is! 3. I was wondering how to stop them. 4. Relating to question 1, I presume. 5. That I can do easily. Unless MUGG is annoyed by me and/or wants to do it himself I'll work on it.

I'm enjoying this, mainly cause it'll let me evaluate how good the route is for a speed run, and come up with new ideas. Granted I can't count on mixes or some of the crazy stuff MUGG can pull off though. ^^;; BTW, looking at your video, it looks like you picked up rerecording like just before the hub area after King Golem, as I see a break in holding right at the start of the area.

Sir VG, you recive an award in finding out when someone picke up recording! EDIT: Wait, you mean while returning to the hub after Master Hand, right? That's where I picked up. And if you do, that's there naturally anyway :P.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/944158252/MUGG-KAM%20v3%2C100.vbm Making the kirbys inhale big blocks or the fact that you can stand on them or must do so in order to get under them really annoyed me. Please someone tell me if it looks good as it is now... I'll probably go to the Ocean part or somewhere now. Ideas concerning the route are welcome.
