Yeah, I'm restarting the run anyways. I'm thinking of doing a Master Sword TAS, but I just can't get the motivation to start right now, because it would all be my own route.
This might sound incredibly ignorant as I've never done or attempted TAS before, but why can't you just do the current non-TAS route that people do, but just TAS that? It might not have any of the tricks that a TAS would do, but at least it's something.
Because that would be like twice as long as a proper tas route.

Because then it wouldn't be optimal. It wouldn't even be useful atm - the real time route is changing all the time as people decide where to superswim, where to use miscellaneous dry storage tricks and so on.

Because that would take a lot of time and be suboptimal. Also, console routes are constantly improved. Why wouldn't I use tricks? I don't feel like doing a 4ish hour TAS. When I TAS, I want it to last for a while. That would mean I would TAS the game twice.

I know there is going to be a cut sceneless run, but can we have one edited with cut scenes? This is coming from someone who like the cut scenes in this game.

The main reason I did a cutsceneless encode before was because people said all I was TASing was cutscenes, and so I could sync the audio. Now with many skippable cutscenes, I will make my videos just straight encodes with cutscenes.

Do you mean adding in the cutscenes that are being skipped? Because that's a funny idea.

lmao, that wouldn't be worth the time to put together. it would also look pretty bad imo.

I did not mean Adding the ones that are being skipped. If they are skipped they are skipped. I think I was confused about the whole situation. But Abhabob explained everything. So thank you.

Might as well add this here. Just showing off the theoretical use of door storage. Now if only we could use modified isos. Its just a couple bytes... Link to video

Just do it for fun? Shouldn't take that long... Basically the route would be: bombs -> WW (and bottle) -> leaf -> soup -> FF2 -> Hyrule2 -> Ganons Tower (maybe different order in the middle) Btw. why didn't you just put the door in front of the barrier? That way you wouldn't have to leaf that far. On J you can use the sides of the bridge for the WW dive and you can use Tetra for text. (Hyrule1 freezes later on anyway, afair, so Hyrule2 is the only option)

I think you also need mirror shield (to reflect the light arrow in Ganondorf fight). Unless the game only checks that your shield is up and not its type.

you know, if you could change a couple of bytes, there are more efficient ways to shorten the run than adding a door. ;)

I think a TAS of a hacked ISO is a waste of time.

The game gives you Master Sword and Mirror Shield when you enter the Puppet Ganon fight. Probably a leftover from beta testing or something.

Interesting, so you don't need many items after all :)

Slowking: The KoRL text is what allows you to break out of the door cutscene. Most other texts do not work (maybe you know this already but Tetra does work, IDK >_>). So in that case having the door closer to the barrier would mean you would have to take that awful route around the outside of the castle.

I thought tetra text would work, but I'm not totally sure tbh.

It wouldn't be a real TAS, it'd be a 'what-if' TAS. e.g. what if barrier skip was possible and didn't require anything complicated, what would the TAS/route look like. It would be good preparation if nothing else

It would still take a while to do. I won't be doing it. The route would be something like this: WW -> FF1 -> sail -> greatfish -> bombs -> leaf -> FF2 -> Hyrule 2 -> ganon's tower.

Turns out you can use storage to skip the Tetra cutscene in Forest of Fairies. Biggest wallet is now possible. Could be close for timing though. There are some issues with the cutscene outside of Forest of Fairies. If it is not activated early, it will crash the game by entering it after FF1. It seems best to skip this cutscene and to enter FoF with chest storage or door cancel and just savewarp out. This also means that Forest of Fairies needs to be done without a sword. This costs several seconds with good enemy manipulation. Getting into FoF: Link to video Inside FoF: Link to video

Maybe I'm missing something but isn't that useless since it requires the Wind Waker?

You can superswim and get the wind waker early.
