This is the first full any% TAS of Kirby's Return to Dream Land!

This is done with 1 player ONLY. 2-player strategies aren't used or implemented. Other than that, all glitches and exploits are fair game. Too bad this game doesn't have too many glitches in it. Wing is by far the best ability in the game for this kind of run due to its insane mobility, quick damage, and versatility in traversing almost all kinds of terrain.
I had trouble finding good documentation on TAS-exclusive tricks so I figured that I'll be the first to share some TAS-exclusive stuff here in a nice compilation without you having to look in other places or throughout the video to find it
In 5-6, You can hit Grand Doomer as it is moving to the background which saves a considerable amount of time.
If you try to condor head too close too a small enemy you will end up throwing the enemy and wasting time instead. By inputting the opposite direction you want to condor head the frame before you press 1, you can prevent Kirby from tossing the enemy.
The fastest method of ascending without a ladder is actually frame-perfect condor dives, not just jumping. I didn't realize this until around 3/4 of the way through the run and I didn't want to suddenly start using a completely different method of ascending midway through so I purposefully didn't use it. For future TASes, do this.
By doing a Spiral dragon with Landia the exact same frame your invincibility runs out, you can get hit by the Lor Starcutter and deal damage to it on the same frame. This is the fastest way to deal damage to the Lor Starcutter but obviously you have to wait for your invincibility to run out every time you do it.

Other than that, I explain a lot of what I do in the video with captions so I'd recommend watching that version.

I'm not sure if this counts as Any% or if the 1-player needs to be specified in the category so I'm just putting the 1-player in the category name for extra clarity.

Here is the link to the video without captions: (I got extremely unlucky and the Youtube video ID has 2 underscores side-by-side. Because of this, the Youtube module throws a fit) Here's the direct link to a playlist containing the video, hopefully: Captionless workaround lmao

Ok but lets go into details. Thanks to fsvgm for the sync confirmation! Optimization looks good for the most part. While one might criticize the ladder thing, I consider it an understandable choice aesthetically to aim for consistency rather than implement it only at the very end.
The reception here was mostly positive. While there were some apprehensions in regards to relying on one copy-ability for most the game, wing happens to be deep enough that it still is entertaining throughout.
I'm currently not sure whether or not a multiplayer run should obsolete this one but the possibility is out there and should be assessed when one is submitted.
Accepting to Moons.

Sync verified on an unmodified, Redumped ISO (SHA1: D7ADCDC8E3FE7F164EB95F53094974FC31E76CCB) with no extensions on the Wiimote: Anyway, this run was a treat to watch, so Yes vote on entertainment for me. A note to the encoder/publisher: The Direct3D11 backend should be used, else, the shadows will appear as black blobs (and that issue was fixed in a later Dolphin revision).

I really enjoyed this run! Wing is a very complex ability and you made great use of it! Anyone else have any opinions?
[16:36:31] <Mothrayas> I have to say this argument about robot drug usage is a lot more fun than whatever else we have been doing in the past two+ hours
[16:08:10] <BenLubar> a TAS is just the limit of a segmented speedrun as the segment length approaches zero

Yes vote. I have to say I was initially skeptical that primarily using only one ability (wings) would retain engagement, but the variety of level designs and uses for the ability made for an entertaining watch.

The run is a bit repetitive to me. If it was only the last half hour, it would be a blast for sure. It's still a very pretty and cute game, but this is a 'meh' for me.

Thanks EZGames69 for bringing the broken link to my attention, I didn't realize that for some reason ;-; I believe the double underscore is confusing the Youtube module and it's ignoring the 2nd half of the video ID, which is very strange but whatever. I had to make a playlist with the video in it and then link it to that. Thank you all so much for the positive comments regarding the TAS! I kind of wish I did a better job optimizing this, there are some sections that are painful to watch because I know that there's a much faster way to do it :( Hopefully, this is good enough. It's about 4 minutes faster than the current WR which is pretty impressive seeing as there isn't that much room to improve compared to RTA due to the sheer amount of unskippable cutscene-ish sections. 100% is a lot more interesting, I might do a true 100% of that run next with multiple players. There is way more strategy and interesting mechanics to work with there.

Yeah great job in making this. Trust me, there’s alot of my movies where I wish i did some optimizations here than there. They’re very minor and most people may not catch them, but I do, and it terrifies me. But as long as it isn’t obviously sloppy (which it doesn’t feel like it here) you should be good. Yes vote!
