Is there anyone you can contact to help search for subpixel values in memory? I am no good with that. My expertise is in basic strats for this game and general love for the game. It's one of the only games I sort of tried to play seriously for speed, but I never submitted any recordings.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I have posted just about everywhere I possibly can asking for it. It's fine if no one wants to make one I know it takes time. On another note I'm still finding ways to remove lag, and you guessed it: y subpixels...

Well for now I've given up on that bit of lag reduction. I did save 4 frames in the end though but I had many more that just caused bad RNG later. Maybe if I just move on for now I'll discover some new ways to deal with stuff. Since you're more familiar with the game than I am, are there any strange occurences of note that you've happened to come across? Are all the progressive powerups pretty much linear? The game seems very dry in the glitch department, which is a credit to the coders. I haven't been able to find any glitches online or in casual play myself. But any small detail such as the pixel boosts off of slopes could be useful. On another note, this jump is actually possible with very precise positioning. It generates a bit more lag but it seems to be a few frames faster: Link to video

I don't know of game mechanic things like pixel boosts. The main help I really gave goofydylan years ago was to suggest more use of Tornado for climbing, particularly by doing more shorter jumps instead of maxing out his jump height with each one originally. At this point, the Tornado usage in RTA looks quite good, where a TAS would either tweak it a bit or would have to come up with a completely new route change to some part. I am also not aware of any possible sequence breaks in the powerups, so I don't know exactly how the game would react to skipping a powerup. If it were possible to walk thru rocks and skip the need for Gremlin Stick or for Candle of the Ghoul Realm, that could potentially save a lot of time provided your weaker wings could still complete the later stages. I would say the biggest optimizations would be expected from the laggiest stages, like the river of flame or from Mount Imaus.
