REPOST/DOUBLE SUBMISSION BECAUSE THE OTHER SUBMISSION WAS THE WRONG FILE A Super Mario Bros TAS by lolr4v82. This TAS does not have any glitches, but does use warps. If you wonder why I took damage in late game, it was to make me small so I could finish the castle level quicker.
What was the purpose of this run? It was to finish the game Super Mario Bros. as fast as possible, without using glitches.
EDIT: Just realized that I read the instructions wrong. I apologize

nymx: Claiming for judging.

It's the same run, but changed the user file. It's still insanely unoptimized. It's still a no for sub optimality and questionable choices during the TAS.

Nope, just misread the instructions on changing the user files (miss on my side). It would be handy to be able to delete submissions on your own.

No I'm sorry for my comment but before submitting your TAS, you must be careful to beat the current records. I am not denigrating your work in any way and I encourage you to improve, but when I think of certain masterpieces like Mario Sunshine "120shines" or Twilight Princess "100%" which will never be submitted here, it makes me frustrated

Thanks mate! I will keep on improving. I wasn't sure if a run needed to be a record to upload, but now I know. Thank you for your understanding!

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

You do have the option to bow out gracefully by canceling your submission, otherwise it will face rejection.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

If you select "Edit", on your submission...you will see the status dropdown. Just change it to cancel.

Is it just me or is the music faster for no apparent reason?

That's the PAL version of Super Mario Bros.

Example of a faster completion: User movie #638242850875487965
  • "Super Mario Bros." ROM usage: using "World" instead of "Europe", as NTSC is usually faster compared to PAL due to the faster frame rate
  • not getting powerups (not needed in "warps")
  • not doing some funnies
and in terms of RTA time (start: the frame "400" appears in the top right corner after selecting 1 player; end: the frame all sprites are invisible after touching the axe in 8-4; also assumes NTSC framerate 39375000/655171 and PAL framerate 3325214/66495 ): this submission: 17066 - 172 = 16894 frames; 16894 / [PAL] = 05:37.83 my userfile: 18532 - 196 = 18336 frames; 18336 / [NTSC] = 05:05.10
