I did give it a try, and indeed I can escape. I think I can even improve the Juza fight by having Chaz already at level 4 before the fight (and therefore, 3 tsu). As for emulation: bizhawk is said to lag more. However, gens has no movie option. Please refresh my memory...

A new glitch has been found that allows shifting values in RAM 4 bytes to the left. The RTA time is currently 1 and a half hours using this glitch and it can likely go down further. This reddit post by veo has further details.
[16:36:31] <Mothrayas> I have to say this argument about robot drug usage is a lot more fun than whatever else we have been doing in the past two+ hours
[16:08:10] <BenLubar> a TAS is just the limit of a segmented speedrun as the segment length approaches zero

I need to backup to get a telepipe; what's your take? And can I save a few frames with the bizhawk editor? As for the glitches: I need to look further.

Hey, I'm not sure if Janus is still working on his movie, but I decided to work on one based on the knowledge we have from the current RTA route. That being said, it doesn't use the exact same route as the RTA but one very similar in spirit, and one only reliable in a TAS. Link to BK2 file: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/51297363189959931 Youtube for lazies: https://youtu.be/tLWERl9xHPA Most of the heavy RNG manipulation besides one random battle in the Land Rover is done with, but I'm feeling a little over my head with the Juza fight in particular. It came out pretty well, lots of Zans and got the average Nawat damage over 173 for the 9 turn kill but I'm still a bit unsure about it. Also theres no shadowblade since with the xp route there would only be one use of Tsu, and doing it that way forces a save and reload later on which costs more frames than it saves. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated, thanks.

Very impressive. I was working on this glitched speedrun but got stuck in Moclum. Now you showed me that it's possible to skip it altogether!!

I have (finally) decided to redo the speedrun with a new strategy (can't seem to be able to use the usual storage). So far Juza: 60029 frames Gy-Laguiah: 82200 frames According to frame conversion to time, I have slowed down. And since I can't open my previous TAS, I can't directly compare. Can someone confirm? The point of reference for both is the appearance of the dialogue box at the end of both fights

I would guess you seem to be losing time because the more accurate emulation in Bizhawk includes more lag.

Reworked the game with Gens 11a. Already 1152 frames shorter after Juza. I might still try to shorten up to that point

I would suggest you stick with/switch back to Bizhawk. More accurate emulation is always preferred, even if it results in times that look longer.

But shouldn't I first do it with Gens? I need to compare apples to apples; of course, I could redo a run with Bizhawk AND THEN do it the way I'm doing it right now

That's fair, if you feel you can get a more accurate comparison that way.

Improve the run by 7 more frames after Gy-Laguiah. Might still try to improve it; this is the worst fight for manipulation (I remember losing frames to my second last completed run)

What operating system are you running? I would like to watch the WIPs but no versions of Gens I have found will run on Windows 10.

Do you have any compatibility settings applied? If so, what are they? EDIT: Turns out something was just weird in Windows. It's running fine after resetting my system. EDIT 2: Gy-Laguiah WIP looking good!

Now 1265 frames ahead after Zio. Trimmed 57 more frames at Gy-Laguiah, and about 50 more after Zio. I might try my luck further with Zio, considering that moving in the macro menu also influences the RNG...

Now a 1331 frames advantage after the Air Castle priests. I had the ABSOLUTE BEST outcome possible: they ONLY used their physical attack, which uses fewer frames than any spell

now down 1700 frames, since I don,t need Wren's barrier, and can therefore use macros only (couldn't replicate the attack-only, though)

Now a 1775 frame advantage after DF II. It probably comes for Rika attacking rather than casting deban

Now 2114 frames ahead after DF III. I will try using Wren's flare in the first 2 rounds, since I know he has enough. And also kill off Chaz earlier if possible...

trimmed another 260 frames with the flare method. I think it's as good as it gets; Rika runs out of 2x slash. However, I will have to backtrack since I realized I didn't press start when docking the spaceship earlier on. Let's see if it makes a whole lot of difference in the end..

Although I lost 20 frames in DF I fight, I'm still about 400 frames ahead when skipping the ship docking. Creatures of darkness are truly weak to cold

Lost another 12 frames of fighting, but I'm still about 480 frames ahead after the 1st part of the Air Castle. Plus, I had the best fight possible with ZERO giwat on the xe-la-thoul side

While I lost about 60 frames of fighting (total), I'm still about 480 frames ahead of the previous test run after DF III. That makes a save of roughly 2500 frames from the most recent published run.

Back on Rykros with about 3k frame advantage. Sadly, I am stuck AGAIN because Leroof refuses to show up. I've waited one frame like I used to do, nothing triggers. Help! I've come too far to give up
