http://members.shaw.ca/richu/PS4.zip Juza's dead this time, and it ends when Alys dies(spoilers). At Ladea Tower, Rune's theme replaces the funky Ladea tower beat. I kind of wanted to get into a fight to change it back. Demi was a lifesaver at the Gy battle. Without luck manipulation, it would've been over in like 2 turns. Sandworms and Zio up next.

Wonderful, just fonderful. One of my favourite part in this game is when Alys dies. Cool that you got Runes tune instead of the tower music. Keep the good work up. Take your time. :)

I'm likin' it so far. I really liked how you manipulated the two boss battles so the other non-permanent party members died, so Chaz and Rika (and Rune) got all the XP. That musta took some serious planning and manipulation. And I liked having Rune's theme in the background, I think it was the last part of the game where you got to hear it. And you'll get to hear that Tower BGM again later in the game in the (spoiler)Air Castle. Wow, I never realized Gryz was so useless when you didn't level him up and buy equipment. The others have techs and skills to use, but Gryz? Pshh. At least he's good at absorbing damage. I'm looking forward to the battle with Zio. Considering that everything which follows is just a load of cutscenes, perhaps you could end the next movie, instead, when you reach Wren, or when you leave Raja's temple?

By the way, where can I find SandWorms? I'm now at Zio's Fortress.

If you can't read the dialogue, you kinda lose where you're going if you're just watching. I had no problem with it in the Super Mario RPG TA, but that's because I've beaten the game many times already. I've never played PS4 I don't think. So the slow dialogue would be a nice change from just speeding through it. Don't let everyone force you to go through it as fast as possible.

Kitsune, hes going for fastest completion.. he doesn't want to put in all this work and eventually get beaten because he decided to go slowly with the dialogue if you want to read the dialogue, play the game.. its fun anyways

Sleepz: What I’m trying to do is, instead of just skipping through the dialogue as fast as possible, is to progress the dialogue at an actual conversation pace. I realize it will add a few minutes to the total time, but I’d find it much less entertaining if all the dialogue was skipped over, especially since its an RPG. I think this is a good idea, and I like it. Instead of just skipping through the text, I think it will be more interesting if I can read it through, since I'm a fast reader.

since the community thought about adopting the mkv format so as to use its functionnalities, why not use them here ? I watched the few RPG that were run as TAS, but I felt bored as I couldnt understand what was going on. so, it's a very good idea to let the viewer know, but it has 2 drawbacks : - time wasted in the timeattack - even with the dialogues left, it might be hard for someone who never finished the game before (most people, most of the audience) to follow the plot so, why not use subtitles ? it doesn't have to be very complicated, only from time to time add a line such as : "the king orders the hero to save the princess at Nowhere city" ; "the old woman sells the hero an invincibility potion". focus on : plot, goals ; don't let the viewer ask himself "why did the hero have to come all this way to do something I couldnt even see". it's not just about dialogues, but explaining why the hero has to spend so much time leveling/collecting/harvesting etc. you could even provide the sub file, no need to encode it, it could be an option for curious people (ffdshow can read subtitles) maybe it'd be an interesting debate with the courageous players that do RPG TAS, not just this game of course. (new topic ?) sorry I got a bit carried away =^__^=

I was about to do it that way too, regardless. However, looking at the differences in time between just the opening dialouges, reading speed might extend the length of the run by an hour or more. Even I can't ignore that. But I feel less motivated to do the run now.

Go near Termi and walk around. That reminds me, I have to redo that part since I forgot you can just run into sandworms without having to go through the infant worms.

I'm also interested in a status update of this run. Is it still being worked on, on hiatus, or dropped entirely? I hope not the last option, this is one I'm really looking forward to.

I will also post and add my support to Sleepz. Please keep up the run! We love it and PS4 is such a fun game to follow along with. If not, maybe get someone else to take over for ya. I am in a state of unrest until I see Dark Force dead! ;D

I think that SXL has a very good idea here. The idea of subtitles was also mentioned at SDA (in response to some guy who originally suggested two versions, one with audio commentary, as if 3 versions of every run weren't already enough). People ask for plot runs for games all the time, and I have much difficulty understanding this phenomenon, but unless someone needed the verbatim text, this would work fine. Frankly, I'm surprised nobody here or there has done this before, as it seems like an elegant solution.

I want to see it, too, or at least the WIP. The link on the last page died. Anyone have it?

If anyone is still intending to work on this run, I've been working on a data dump for hacking purposes that could be pretty useful. It's at http://www.wrftpb.com/psiv/ . There are a lot of things that can be easily luck manipulated that nobody actually understands yet, but we do know how to calculate expected damage and status attack success rate. I have no idea exactly how turn order is determined.
