【TAS】 Sonic Powers Demo - Normal State This Rom adds homing Attack (Air Boost), Super Sonic, and Ultimate Sonic to the original Hedgehog Sonic (requiring transformation into Super Sonic to break the invincible display in Super Mode),But after defeating the boss in the Green Hill Zone Act3, it will repeat the loop to play the Green Hill Zone Act3,This leads to the inability to complete 100%

feos: Claiming for judging.
ROM hacks must not be overly obscure. If a hack is known to GoodTools, ROMhacking.net, SMW Central, or some other well-known database, that usually means its quality is decent and it won't be completely lost in the future.
  • There must be a publicly and readily available download link to the hack's patch file on the web. It should be easily found through Google. Having to join an online community (for example on Discord) to get the file is not allowed.
Due to potential legal problems, we can't share links to ROMs, and we can't host patch files on our side, so we have to rely on online hack databases for preservation and hack quality. This particular hack doesn't seem to meet the lowest requirements of availability as I described in my post. It's a better idea to submit TASes of well established hacks than of barely started demos.
Rejecting for game choice.

HI TATE I just saw your TAS, it is good, although it could be improved (I don't know who I am to judge) but there are 3 errors. 1._ Improvements: There are improvements to the TAS using in-game skills, not just the Homing Attack. 2._ The Branch: You use the 100% Branch when your TAS is only an "Any%". You should leave it without Branch or with the "Any%" since 100% would have been with the Chaos Emeralds. 3._ The .gmv: Like the video, they last 2:01 seconds. The time must end after pressing the button, which adds time, it would subtract about 5 seconds (or more) Vote: Meh

This hack is really problematic. It's obscure in that it only exists in one place as a ROM link, it's just barebones since it only contains one zone and level layouts are the same, and it also crashes on BizHawk once you try to jump (the main gimmick of the hack). The author only released the initial demo in 2021 and then all the work stalled. Even the target audience of this hack considers it questionable: While this run is quicker than [1937] Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog "no zips" by Aglar in 17:36.58 since you move faster, in act 2 the zip wasn't used, so it's slower than [3570] Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog by Aglar in 14:13.87 in that room.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

The hack itself doesn’t look worthy to be TASed to me. I’m voting No.
S3&A [Amy amy%] improvement (with Evil_3D & kaan55) — currently in SPZ2 my TAS channel · If I ever come into your dream, I’ll be riding an eggship :)

Another good effort, Tate. I'd say better than your last attempt (that shows your progression), but not quite perfect yet. (Then again, in my snooping around posts, I've read that TASVideos doesn't require perfect optimization; they just need enough to not make the run seem sloppy.) Again, you placed a Bilibili video in the YouTube encode section, meaning the encode doesn't work properly. (I'm gonna assume that's your main method of uploading videos of your runs. No use in trying to change your mind about that.) As far as the hack goes, I don't have much to say besides what feos pointed out.
  • Only one world ("zone") with three levels ("acts"): Green Hill Zone. And pretty much all of it is unchanged. (The boss's entrance is slightly faster.)
  • The only extra features added are the additional abilities you can perform, as stated in the submission notes. The comments and SSRG (Sonic Stuff Research Group) even speak for themselves.
  • Other than that, the entire hack is a demo and has remained so since 2021. No further progress has been made as far as I know.

I have to be honest, I feel like this is an emulator compatibility issue; as far as I know, the creator of the hack, ReZZ, never exactly bothered to test the hack on different emulators. I have to assume that they only used Gens. Now, I'll be honest: I found the run to be pretty boring, no easier way to say it; not to mention that, again, most of the hack is practically unchanged aside from Sonic and Dr. Robotnik. I tried again and again to find at least something that I enjoyed about the run, but I just couldn't. I guess the unbalanced power of the Air Boosts took away a chunk of the entertainment value since it could be abused to oblivion.
Yaaay, I'm an active player now! :D (as of 11/9/2024) Thanks to TASVideos for the support, they're awesome.
I'm Asumeh, semi-expert SMB1 TASer. :) Check out some of the TASes I don't submit/upload to TASVideos on my YouTube channel, if you'd like. In progress: - Extra Mario Bros. (redo) (with HappyLee and w7n) - I'm currently assisting with finding improvements before the boss. On hold; we're currently struggling to confirm that we have the fastest route. Some debugging may also help with finding glitch exits, but neither of us are experts in that field. - Record my older TASes (excluding any obsolete TASes) and upload to YouTube. Check out my other links here. (Mostly WIP hehe)
