IMO an excellent category would be the low-level run, in which the Lucky Jewel and other sorts of things are done to avoid gaining experience in boss battles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfyR__29tDs Then again the guy who started this video series ended it after 26 parts (more than 2 hours, after several sped-up segments) around where the second Belome battle occurs.

No posts in over 2 years. I completely forget this thread until now :p I stopped 100% TAS now because of this rule. "2 Collect all item and equip which you can get only once." I realized this rule forces me to collect 40000 coins to get 20 flog coins from marrymore suite. If you stay at suite 200 times, clerk gives me this. On the other hand, TASVideos starts to accept Japanese. It's good for me to do 100% again with new arbitrary rule. Japanese is nearly 9 minute faster than English in any% so I can save more in 100%. (you can see this fact from smrpg thread in SpeedDemosArchive if you are curious.) Now I am thinking of 100% like this: 1 Unlock all menu and place.(menu : Star Piece and Game , place : Yo'ster Isle and Grate Guy's Casino) 2 Vacate all treasures (normal+hidden) if you can. (Some treasures can't be.) 3 Get all items and equips that exists "Only one" in this game. (For example, Sheep Attack, Star Egg , Star Gun etc..) 4 Beat Culex and Jinx. 5 Buy 5 Fireworks (Doing this makes stat filework instead that of mushroom in ending) I don't think max level is good to watch because just doing death abuse is fastest leveling up but it's just grinding. you can watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb2-e9SjQh0 Finally about low level. I don't think it's good category for TAS unfortunately. You will see nothing but spamming Rock Candy in entire battles and actually fastest to do it. :p

I think your new definition of a 100% would work just fine.

Sounds good. Really happy that you are doing the 100% TAS again.

It'd be nice in a game like this to have English so that we can understand what's being collected or attempted a little better, but as long as we have detailed comments, maybe that wouldn't be too much of an issue.

Also of note is that time saved because of faster text is not counted for obsoletion purposes, so if someone did a better job than you, but took longer in real-time because they used the (U) ROM, their movie would still obsolete yours.

thanks for your opinions. I will be making this rules and would be nice on U version because this TAS will collect various items and equips. Japanese is very faster but hart to understand what is going on sometimes.

Have you considered showcasing the Link and Samus cameos? That might be nice to throw into the 100% category, though it might raise some objections in terms how arbitrary this rule would be.

I haven't finished to plan the route yet. I don't know I will show off them.

Well, the chest in Grate Guy's Casino is an improvised slot machine, and Kamek specifically tells you that the chest he creates is infinite, so I think those aren't a big deal.

Wasn't the run started before the snes9x 1.43 deprecation? Was0x's post above about the run being worked on was made in 2012, which is before snes9x was deprecated, so the run should still be submittable.

I told him in comment of his video, I hope that he will be susceptible in spite of my bad English.

I've been putting off submitting 100% TAS because of snes9x deprecation. As turska said, I started making this run before deprecation. I just want to check if it's fine to submit or not. Also, I'm slowly working on any% TAS with bizhawk now. I don't plan to redone 100%, though.

There is already some cases similar to yours that exists, and got published anyway. Looking forward to your next TAS. :)

Thanks, niamek. I'm not following most of submissions. So I didn't know that. I'm doing Sky Troopas minigame and about 12 seconds ahead now. I'm gaining time from less lag frames and better levelling up route.

I finished new any% TAS a few days ago. I hope I can submit it this week. Aiso, I will redo 100% with bizhawk or lsnes if I want to submit. Because snes9x is slower than I thought and I made minor mistakes that can be fixed easily.

No progress in 100% yet but I'm going to route soon and making tas actually. I'm wondering if this is fine or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpQpF8z5nXE This video shows I depleted a chest which can be hit multiple times instantly by screen transition. This works on such chests. Those who don't remember what's 100% definition, "deplete chests" is one of 100% condition.

I think it's fine. The chest isn't skipped, it's still hit once, so it should count.
