Compost -- If you changed the file name when you saved it using invalid characters it'll disappear. Update -- Today I got as far as the Goht battle, but I realised an optimisation so I'm redoing about half the temple. Goht was giving me a bit of a headache anyway. Expect a WIP within the next few days.

Link enjoys a smooth, refreshing, glass of Goht's milk before moving on Snowhead Temple is done.
Notes -- 1) I tested sidehopping hovers instead of backflip hovers but they turned out slower. This was because a) sidehops descend faster meaning that whilst trying to stay on the same pixel level less distance is covered b) they cause more lag. 2) The Wizzrobe fights are optimised. If I get too close too early they disappear. Veteran players know this, but just to anyone else watching who is unfamiliar. 3) The Goht battle is extremely random. Where I shoot arrows from is as far back as I could get to a) hit it b) not get hit by it (this was very irritating) and c) to optimise the distance to get a spiked Goron roll before the first hill after the battle. 4) Minus cutscenes etc. this is faster than Swordless Link's movie (a movie which was very helpful). 5) The time is 2:00am. My route says that I need to win the Goron race, collect a few chests, make a few bomb shops visits and then get to the ranch by 3:30am. This sounds very ambitious...
Also, I'm halfway there! The rest of the movie shouldn't be as difficult/tedious and it looks like pretty good fun from here.

I suppose I should make a video of the progress as most people seem completely lost at getting this game to work in mupen. I'll aim for wednesday night.

Looks good. The thought occurs, though, that instead of walking over to the warp pad, you could do this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgDrjJElTOM Also, I think Fire Arrows would be faster for the first two hits of the second wizrobe.

Thank you very much AKA. Mukki, this is looking very promising. All your maneuvers looked very optimized. Can't wait for the next wip.

I fell asleep while it was encoding but anyway... http://tas.monotoli.org/index.php?path=mov%2Fmm/ it's 06. Edit: oh AKA beat me. I'll leave the link up anyway in case you all want something 1/3 the size of AKA's. edit2: oh wow I left in 4 minutes of unnecessary audio that will play once the video is done. Um, enjoy? :v

Petrie -- It looks like I'll have to redo from Pirate's Fortress anyway. I very much doubt that I'll get to the ranch in time. It's 2:00am that gives me 1:30 to visit the bomb shop, get into the Goron race, win the Goron race, pick up 3 chests and get into Romani Ranch. Considering that the race itself will take up an hour this probably won't happen. I'll optimise up to the ranch to see what time I get there at and then I'll have a better idea of when to redo from. I can see where you're coming from with the Wizzrobe fight. Although he become damageable on the same frame regardless of approach the extra speed of rolling as opposed to running after this barrier has been past should save a few frames (after time taken to come out of the roll and punch has been taken into account). Considering this then arrows could be the fastest method for the same reason, although I'll have to weigh it out against time lost transforming out of Goron form.

I would definitly check to see how many termina hours it takes until you end up at the ranch, since playing the SoDT means you have 6 mins less in real time, so it might end up better to play the ISoT at a more appropiate time. Since if you don't play the SoDT you could end up waiting for quite a while at the ranch for the alien invasion.

We lost one Terminian hour (5-6 p.m.) from the SoDT, right? If so, we'll probably need to skip the SoDT and play the ISoT at the appropriate time, as AKA said, because even 2.5 Terminian hours may not be enough for the Goron race, the trip to Romani Ranch, and everything else in between.

We have to get there by 3:30 a.m. or it will be too late to stop the invasion.

IIRC one termina hour is 30 seconds, of course it isn't constant because it stops during texts, cutscenes and transitions. The IoST changes one termina hour to 1:30, and the SoDT fasts forwards twelve termina hours to either Mid-day or Mid-night.

I'm just popping in here to comment on mwl's damage/HP list: A lot of the values are custom for particular enemies, so someone should check combinations against all enemies to look for "weaknesses": Off the top of my head... Goron Punch & Pound usually does 2 damage, but they do 4 damage against Wizzrobes and Lizalfos. They also do nothing against Chuchus. Deku Bubbles usually do 2 damage, but they do 4 damage against the King of Ikana and his henchmen. Deku Pops (shooting out of a Deku Flower) does 4 damage normally, but only 2 damage to Majora's Mask. Deku Nuts actually do 1 damage to dragonflies. Zora Electric Shield usually just stuns, but it does 4 damage to Like Likes and 6/7 damage to Goht. One other interesting thing I've noticed is that Like Likes have 3 HP during the day and 6 HP during the night. Maybe some other bosses have variable HP at different times....

Well, if you do redo, I have one suggestion for the hideousness known as the Lullab skip. Once you're on the winding path, there is a section where you have to walk with the wind. Try to time it so that the wind blows you along that segment. It's by far the fastest way to travel.

I just got a comment at my Snowhead Temple TAS, saying this: Hey, I don't know if you can be bothered to research further into this, but I swear by my father's grave I've been able to hit wizrobe twice in a row before. Since you have TAS equipment you could easily find that window where you can strike again and then you could end wizrobe battles in the blink of an eye. I have no idea if it works, but he seems pretty sure that it does. Maybe you guys should have a look at it

Hmm...sounds like a youtuber talking shit, I've heard they do that sometimes :P Perhaps with whirlwind attack that sounds remotely possible but not with Goron punching which is what I'll be using. I'll investigate just for the banter when I redo that part. I won't get around to progression on this for at least a week as I'm running low on motivation. Doing up to the reanch just makes it feel as if I'm setting myself up for one mofo of a redo (the thought of another Goron Lullabye skip brings tears to my eyes). I will get there in the end though \o/

If you are gonna redo I have a question. Wouldn't it be faster in the Snowhead Temple after you beat the Wizrobe that gives you fire arrows to leave walk forward untill you can turn around hookshot the torch than bomb or bombchu hover into the tunnel with the big snowballs? I could be wrong I am not sure Just a suggestion.

In answer to your question Mukki, I don't think it is possible. I tried a lot of different things and none worked. As for the above poster, this may be faster, though I'm not sure. (I assume that was what you were talking about) It takes the same amount of bombs/chus to hover from the spot at the end of the video.

Just a question, but when viewing the current WIP at around frame 91000, link goes to West clock town, jumps over the flowers, and it desyns there, it's supposed to enter the shop, but it doesn't, is it just me or does everyone else have the same problem? And a general question: is there a way to "skip ahead" to a certain frame, like, jump from frame 1 --> 40000 at once instead of speeding it up/holding TAB? Thanks

I haven't watched the wip fully, but Rice video plugin seems to desynch the least for this game, might wanna try that out. As for frame skipping, no, there's no way, unless you actually watch the wip up to frame 40000 and then make a savestate there.
