hmm, I could have played a song of double time at the beginning than it would have been 4 pm a TAS would arrive at 2:30 am or something then, what would be perfect :) I've recorded CT to GB, Zora Mask, Wrong Warp, Ikana to Swamp, Swamp to Palace, Palace, Palace to Temple and ended it at the bow I'll upload it tomorrow, if you want me too

Yep I would like you to. ^^ I never thought you would be at the ranch this fast. I mean you did everything up to the bow and still got there this early? That's impressive. Isn't there anything on the list that you can do before going to the ranch? But to be honest I also can't think of anything that would be possible before the ranch. Both Snowhead and climbing up to the stone tower would be slower without the hookshot and you can't get into the bay temple without the bottles... That's a problem. btw. @petrie Why do the bay temple so late in the game? On the way there you walk by the Zora bottle game, which could provide much needed rupees for the rest of the run.

well, the original reason was that so we could pay for it with the rupees from Stone Tower. But we won't have as good an opportunity in Stone Tower to get said rupees now, so the point is moot. Actually, we could reduce the initial rupees by 10 this way and save a Song of Soaring. First cycle stuff (210r) Buy bomb bag +20c (20c) (80r) Get into North Bay (19c) Get Zora Mask, hit Owl statue, go to South Bay Zora Pot game(170r) *Song of Double Time should go somewhere in here* Go to Fairy Fountain Hover to Ikana (4c) Hit Ikana owl, go to witches' hut Get bottle Kill Big Octos with Zora boomerangs Get Sonata Get Song of Soaring Get Bow (0c) Warp out to CT Buy 10c, head to Ranch (10c) (130r) Get Ranch Bottle (6c) Warp to North Bay Get Hookshot+2 Zora Eggs (2c) Warp back and deposit them at the laboratory Go back for the other 2 Zora eggs (230r) (0c) Warp back to CT Buy 20c more (150r) (20c) Warp to North Bay, do Pinnacle Rock Go to GBT, do Zora Pots again (240r) Do GBT (0c) Warp to CT, buy 20c (160r) (20c) Warp to Woodfall Wrong Warp to Snowhead (5c) Complete Snowhead Warp to CT, buy 20c more (80r) Warp to Ikana, climb Stone Tower Warp to CT, buy 20c more (0r) Warp to Stone Tower, complete temple *get 80r in STT, Warp to CT, buy 20c more* Warp to Woodfall, complete temple Back to CT, Moon Now, the second SODT should be used just after Night of the 2nd day. When should I put the first one? As before, the starred line is optional, depending on whether we skip the Woodfall Boss Key.

the first song of double time should be played directly at the beginning of the 2nd cycle we have to arrive at the ranch as late as possible we have to think about something different, too. we have no goron mask and gilded sword, so what are the best strats for 1st wizrobe battle, odolwa, the pirate's battle, light arrow battle and the bow battle I used a strategy in my testings for the bow fight, that is only 1-2 seconds slower than using a deku stick or goron mask in the new route aren't that convenient places to get sticks anymore, so what strats are the best ones?

We can still get deku sticks from the pot outside Woodfall, which nets us 2. If we manipulate some sticks from the mad scrubs (I think we can do that), we can get 5--enough for 1st Wizrobe and the Lizafos. Odolwa will use the spin attack method. It will just take 7 spins instead of 3. Pirate Battle will be done as a Zora. Stun->jumpslash. Garo Master will take 7 jumpslashes, but he's about the same with or without Deku nuts. EDIT: OK, I need to know what time it would be when we get to the ranch if we play the SoDT immediately upon starting the cycle. Would it be significantly before 2:30? The route has gone back into question. I need to know the above before I can tell what to do.

I don't think we can know how long it actually takes untill somebody tases it... Btw. if I see it correctly the perfect time to be in shooting position would be shortly before 3:30, so it's a little later, still. Would it be possible to climb stone tower without the hookshot or would that loose to much time? After you are up there you warp away to get explosives anyway and it could provide the missing time for the ranch bottle.

if you have 300 bombchus, you could climb stone tower without hookshot :D I think, we'll arrive at the ranch to early, so the perfect option would be the beavers race. it's 20 seconds slower, but it saves explosives and it would be faster than waiting 1 minute in front of the ranch there are also 20 rupees perfectly on the way up the beavers we could collect oh, and I have a theory to skip the sonata of awaking! the deku palace is under the woodfall map, when you haven't played the song yet. I have some doubt, that the loading zones are already there, but it's worth trying it another problem is, that link can't be in OoB water and the OoB water under the area is really, really deep. the temple is in the middle, so it doesn't seem to be possible to get over to it

I thought I remebered that the hookshot was only used once during Mukkis run on the way up there. Thats why I asked.

You need the hookshot to get up there. without it you will truely need 300 chus.

This will only ad time, not save it. - The way from the palace to the temple isn't that far so it probably won't warant the lost explosives - you need to go the way to get the warp-song - you need to activate the owl in front of the tempel to get back here later and to get from here to Snowhead.

sonata skip would be for low% however, I can't get it to work ok, beavers race is out of the door.... and mukki used the hookshot 7 times in his TAS to climb stone tower ;) stone tower is the place, that forces us to get hookshot or blast mask in low% all the other things can be done with bombs ;)

D'oh! I just found the solution for our time-problem. It's so simpel! We go to pinnacle rock two times anyway, right? Well there are only 3 eggs there, so the first time we go there, we only need one bottle and we allready got one pretty early in the game from the witches. True we will praobably loose the time for one or two warpsongs, but this route should still be way faster (considering that getting the goron mask still takes some time) than the other. And ok my memory isn't what it used to. Wait untill you are my age, young man. XD Btw. are you going to upload your testrun soon? I wold really like to see it. ^^

good idea, would add one warp song we'll see, if it's possible, because maybe it's too late, when we do pinacle rock before ranch

Yes, I think this is probably best. 2 SoSes is about 45 seconds. I'm pretty sure the Beaver Race takes longer than 4:45. Additionally, the Beaver Races don't have that convenient warp to CT to buy more chus. A trip to Pinnacle Rock adds ~2:00 to the game clock. Now, the Zora Pot game is closed at night. This is a problem if we SoDT immediately. So, if we SoDT after the Zora Pot game, and go to Pinnacle Rock, the question is, what time will it be at the ranch?

@MrGrunz I did a quick play through of the route up to the ranch (with fast forewarding time after the Zora game and without pinnacle rock) and was there at 6am. Now I know I'm not the fastest but I used moonjumps instead of bombs and believe that I made up some time I lost through walking. So unless I'm totally incompetent something doesn't ad up here. Are you sure you didn't forget something on your play through? @petrie Could you play up to that point real quick (without optimizing)? That should give us a vague idea when we'll be at the ranch.

I'm starting to wonder where Grunz got that time, too. I did a quick test run and it looked as though i wouldn't get to the Ranch until midnight. Grunz, you didn't make the mistake of playing with time slowed, did you? Because that would do it. Anyways, I'll try to give this a shot when I get the time.

I did a second run through and even with rabbit ears, not visiting the bomb shop and extensive moonjumping I don't get into bow-shooting-position (the wooden crate) until 4:30. As far as I can see we might even have to play the song of double time later, rather than sooner...

I'll upload my playthrough :/ however, I did a complete woodfall TAS with boss key skip and forgot to press recording I'm way too pissed off now

First, start playing th movie file. Then, go to "Start AVI Capture"; it should be under the same menu as starting/stopping recording. Then, when you get to the end, select "Stop AVI Capture".

@MrGrunz The thing is even if you flew through there you couldn't have made it that fast. The only way is that you slowed down time or left something out... I also considered, that you may have done it in the first cycle with, removing the mask through a cheat, but I believe time actually runs faster in the first one... so only those two remain.

I have no idea I won't upload it today anymore, but maybe tomorrow edit: ok, I fixed the problem with the TAS. Because of that, I had to do the TAS around 5 times until now, but the result looks pretty good to me for a first TAS

OK, so I tested it myself, and got to the rock in front of the ranch at 2:30 by playing the SoDT after hitting the owl in Ikana. However, I did the swamp fairly suboptimally (I didn't feel like optimizing it >_>), so we can take an hour of game time off that. Now, going from the Zora Pots game to the Ikana Owl definitely takes more than 1:00, so the first SoDT should probably go before the wrong warp glitch, but after the Zora Pot game. Where in that interval it should go, I don't know. Grunz, I await your TAS. But I strongly suspect you left the Inverted Song of Time on.

Looks nice! I'm no expert on MM TASing, but the only things I noticed were that you ended with 2 Bombchus which could have been used to speed up a bomb hover (no big deal if you need the chus later), and that while flying with the flowers, you didn't take a straight path.

I would suspect either directly after the pot game (cutting it pretty close) or upon landing on the platform in front of the fairy fountain. I guess you can say it will take you another half hour to get to the wooden crate (bomb hoovering in and then supersliding there) and if we guess that you also half an hour in the swamp that would put you there at 2:30 again. But you really first have to be there at 3:30 (the Aliens enter the barn at ~3:50 so that should give you enough time). It gets a little complicated through the Epona cutscene, but 3:30 should still suffice. Hmm the more I think about it, directly after the pot game is probably to early and it should be done directly after you land on the platform. Unless I've underestimated the optimizations you can make in the swamp.

That was pretty good MrGrunz, the Odolwa fight took longer, but thats what you get for not using the Gilded Sword. Now I have a sudden urge to make a TAS for myself of this game.
