Well, they have the best acceleration, (edit: oh wait, I guess they don't... oh well) so they're the fastest if you constantly bump into things and can't turn without losing speed.
But I think a timeattack of Super Mario Kart will be very, VERY difficult to do properly. Because there area already some amazing videos out there, a timeattack will be required to beat ALL the world records, and this will require extensive knowledge of the game, at the very least. Some "mad skillz" are probably neccesary as well.

It sure will, I got a friend who says he rock at this game :D But I've never seen him playing it... Anyway I got to tell him about this and see if he can do something about it :>
The thing about SNES Battletoads is that it's...very, very repetitive. There are two (three?) levels where you're on a giant hockey puck of sorts and are just sliding through the strangest scenary ever. It's like they decided they didn't have enough levels finished, so they tore the stages from another game entirely.
For my two cents:
Brainlord (It's Lagoon on acid!)
Demon's Crest
Earthbound
Ghoul Patrol (It's the Deadly Towers of SNES games >>;)
Pilotwings (?)
Rocky Rodent (Does anyone even remember this one? :/)
Rockman & Forte
Super Buster Brothers (Maybe. It'd be tough to make interesting, but...)
Twisted Tales of Spike McFang
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (Did anyone honestly expect me not to mention it? Anyway, the SNES version's sound is FAR superior to the Genesis')
I dunno how many folks have played some of the more no-name titles on that list, like Rocky and Ghoul Patrol.... but Rocky can be pretty fast if you know where you're going, and has style points since you're beating things up with your HAIR. >>;
Brain Lord could be beaten very quickly with rerecords and slowdown, I feel....though, admittedly, I've never even gotten to the second boss. :x

And also it came up to me I want to see Puzzle Bubble, Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3. In the DKC3 it would be cool to see a full collect of the bananabirds :>

Does anyone want to make a run of "Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt" on the SNES? The character runs very fast in it, and the game is very difficult, so I'm sure it would be fast and fun. I would make it myself, but Snes9x doesn't support frame advance on my keyboard.
Did anyone mention Aero the Acrobat?
I haven't found exactly why Koopa Troopa is rated so highly among fans. I know he's got good speed, and his acceleration is better than Bowser and DKJ. Basically, he's not as fast as Bowser, but he doesn't lose as much speed going around turns.

The big guys doesn't lose speed either if you just jump when you need too. No one is faster than Bowser or Donkey, except for the acceleration of course.
Here are some more suggestions:
Evo (Upon finding this site, I was very surprised this didn't exist. I am not as big a fan of this game, while good, as many other people, but it would make a really good run I think.)
Alcahest (decent game, good run choice)
Castlevania 5 (not as good as 4, but it's Castlevania)
Harvest MoonDer Langrisser (and really I sneakily mean Warsong 2 for Genesis)
Lemmings 2 (not as good as PC version, but it's on SNES)
Mega Man Soccer (game kinda sucks, but for the MM completionism I guess)
Geomon 2-4 (not as good as 1 strangely, but better than the 64 SDA one heh)
Mario and WarioParodius 1/2/3?Star FoxTwinbee 4/5 (actually, how does this site not have any Twinbees to begin with?!)
Valis 4 (and by this I mean 1-4 on various Sega-ness)
Ys3 (and by this... ;)
RPGs: ones that have been mentioned elsewhere, but good games I haven't heard talk of include Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Romancing Saga (especially 3), DW 5/6, eh that's all I can think of.
---
Rockman & Forte is an obvious choice, since every other Mega Man game possible is already done on this site (minus the weird ones like the soccer!).
Yoshi's Island already has very good legit videos at SDA.
Soul Blazer/Illusion of Gaia/Terranigma: sure, if someone would want to do those.
FFMQ: for whoever is doing this, make sure you avoid all the enemies you can. There are some places where the designers got lazy in their enemy placement and you're clearly supposed to have to fight them, but you can walk around them. This happens around stairs for example.
Zelda 3: the run at SDA is really good if I remember right.
SMW full: the thing that bothers me about this game is that the game is pretty easy as is and harder to optimize. For instance, the run we have here is slower than people can do it legitimately, apparently.
Mario Kart: I LOVE this game, think it's the best racing game ever, spent much time on it, am quite good at it. That being said, I don't want to see speedruns for this since legit playing is already very optimized as is.
Secret of Mana: the only rationale I could think of is that it would be pretty neat to see the first ever 3P speedrun here. I'm not sure I would really want to watch it otherwise.
Kirby 3, SmashTV, Puzzle Bobble, DKC2/3: solid ideas
Lost Vikings 2: this is a great idea, plus we already have 1 (for Genesis)
Mario is Missing: eh, it's a Mario game
SD3: IMHO Square's best game ever, but not sure how good of a run it would make. I beat the game in level 31, not sure how often I fought regular enemies but it was pretty close to not at all. This would have to be done 2P, of course.
Lufia 2: this would be incredible. Someone needs to do this. Since the Japanese version would probably be used, it would be nice for the USA players to get to see an unglitched version of the game.
It's because his handle is the best. I've found that newbies tend to like Princess/Yoshi, decent players like Toad/Koopa, and good players like Bowser/DK.
The only thing I've heard regarding that is a ZSNES run from Reciprocal (the fellow/lady/whatever behind The Truth Garden). It is apparently faster than Neuhaus's movie, but its legitimacy is highly questionable. Remember, even without our tools it's possible to create a cheated speedrun with emulators; turbo/programmable controllers could have been used, it could have been played on a really slow computer, etc. If any of you have seen the SMW timeattack with the rock music playing in the background...that was made with ZSNES, savestates, Camtasia or another similar program (not sure), and a video-editing program.
I highly doubt any legitimate movie beats our SMW or SMB3 (I've heard this one too) times...
EDIT: To stay on topic, I would like to see Run Saber. It's a nice little Strider clone, 2-player simultaneous IIRC.
I second Rocky Rodent, that can be fast if done right.
2-player Smash TV = teh rox. For pure speed you always want to take the routes that lead to the hidden prize rooms, as they allow you to skip a lot of each level.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Claymates. The mouse is like Sonic on crack, and the game offers a lot of interesting shortcuts and good character variety (much like Kid Chameleon in that sense).
And call me crazy, but I would KILL for a 2-player Peace Keepers run. The game has a ton of different routes, so it would take a lot of effort to figure out which is the best. As a matter of fact, I'll start a thread for it right now...

but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

My old movie is still sitting there. All I need to do is learn how to hex edit and switch up about 6 different frame keystrokes in order to shave off 3 seconds and submit. Either I submit a crappy run or I learn how to hex edit: neither of which seems to be coming to fruition. That, along with the fact that my Magical Quest movie version 2 is taking a sabatical at level 3 and my Demon's Crest movie version 8 (god... its at 8 already and I havent submitted one) is still stuck at the first hippogriff, means that I probably won't be doing much work for a few more weeks.
But enough about me. I always thought a B.O.B. movie would be nice.
I looked at Areo the Acrobat, but the first level wasn't enough to make me want to timeattack the whole thing. Wasn't really enough action, and the games pace was kinda slow for what you expected.
I have seen this video and I can promise that it's nowhere near as good as the one on this site. Is this the one made by Reciprocal? If not, where can I see that one?
