Knuckles can get 10::57 in Marble 2, just like Sonic. Being in a rolling state lowers the vertical position by 5 pixels, thus allowing to zip 10 frames faster.

Qwerty, DMTM has shown that in GHZ2 you can enter the zip faster by glide-glitching through the bridge in the very beginning. Even without optimization, he managed to improve your time by 1 frame. Consider adding in this trick, friend.

Guys… I am really so sorry :( but don’t you mind if I still can improve this? :-p Link to video (well, youtube chosen not the best frame to become video preview, so, you probably don’t even need to watch the video, to see what I mean) This may still be improveable, I may have missed one little thing… Have to try it next time. If Qwerty wants, I may send him the results of my editions, but he’ll have to list me as a co-author then :-p (upd) Okay, my GHZ1 time is 0:16.55, 3 frames faster than my previous attempt. Is it enough? GHZ3 can probably be improved too. I am trying to take Amy’s route in that level. The problem is the boss Y position is too high when I come to the boss room this way, and I loose all time I win, but there is still some room for further improvements

Sorry, misunderstanding, I just was pointing that I’d like to see more exact time, since I also have a run of that level in 0.13 and would like to know whose is faster

I believe it was 4 frames lower than 14:00. I could be wrong, because I modified the GMV for the worse. *UPT* It is 5 frames lower than 14:00.

I made a quick attempt a few months ago, and my time was 0:13.48, which probably can be advanced (but I am not sure). Take it, maybe you can make it even better. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1371148931/S1K.gmv Also be sure to read this message, but I am not sure if it applies to this particular zip (I’m sure it doesn’t, but who knows)

Since there has been no apparent progress, I decided to try my hand at GHZ2 and GHZ3; here is the result: 0:10::38 in GHZ2, 0:28::01 in GHZ3. Since I am not that good with Knuckles, both may be improvable.

Wew, it’s amazing! If you don’t mind, I will take your input and append to my attempt over GHZ1 (making an attempt to improve it), and share the resulting gmv, so that someone (you or Qwerty) will be able to continue working on it.

I recommend that you use the "sonic-resyncher.lua" script that I bundle with my HUD script; it currently only works for S1 and hacks, but it takes care of managing lag differences. To use it, open a movie and click 'save level' for each level you want to copy; this will dump the levels to a ROM-and-level defined file in the "movies" directory (only one file per level per ROM, to allow easier copying to different movie files). Then on a writable movie, press 'paste level' (preferably when the screen is still black) to copy the level (it can be done right after the point where the last 'paste level' gets you). I really wish that Qwerty would post his gmvs for ease; as is, I will try my hand at MZ. Maybe we can collaborate on this run?

Okay, it seems that improving Green Hill 1 further is beyond my abilities. However, I actually managed to prove it improveable. You can find my gmv, beating the stage in 0:16.55, in my github. In that gmv, when I exit the loop, my X speed is about 3800. This is better than in JXQ’s run, but still worse than I once got accidentally. Unfortunately, the result of that attempt could not be taken, because I was just lurking the level, and already went some frames behind my serious attempt. Here is the proof that you can actually gain a better X speed from the loop by making 2 serial out-loop jumps instead of 1. It is hard to pull off, but possible. Sadly, I couldn’t find the gmv of that attempt to this moment. Sorry friends.

I was going to post something when I saw your post; so I went back and I pasted my versions of the levels onto your movie. The result is here. I went ahead all the way to the end of SYZ1 and... well, I will let you see it for yourselves. Suffice to say, Qwerty's movies are utterly irrelevant now.

Great job, marzojr! I always knew that Qwerty’s WIP, which is faster than McBobX’s run (which is faster than JXQ’s one), was still improveable, but my patience was enough only to beat Green Hill 1 and Star Light 1. Do you have a plan to try gaining a better speed from GHZ1 loop, or going to proceed keeping the current state?

Gaining more speed out of the loop isn't the real problem; jumping out of the half-circle after the spin tubes with enough speed is. You can try this: at about 0:09::00, near the checkpoint, arrange your braking so that you stop one pixel earlier than in the movie. When you jump your way through the loop, you will be able to get more speed. I managed to get 4063 x speed; but then, I always lose speed at the bottom, no matter what I try. The Tails run also has this issue -- the jump at the bottom is very particular as to your positioning, and if you are off you lose a lot of speed no matter how much faster you were up to that point. Anyways, I have been looking over SYZ2 and SYZ3 and they seem to be resistant to breakage thus far...

Oh, same issue here now, X speed is 4065, but I fail to perform the mentioned jump… Crap, I don’t even realize how I managed to make that jump previous time. Commited to github what I could do…

Frame war on Green Hill Zone? =D it’s amazing. Congratulations on doing the job which I actually knew was possible, but couldn’t do myself. Can we see your gmv, or you are still trying to optimize it deeper?

Well, Aglar beats him anyway with this old WIP he says is "most likely not fully optimized"; his time is 0:16::40.

Oh shit. I give up. As usually >_< My mistake is that I just don’t try changing trajectories hard enough. I might try improving it, but since it’s done by Aglar, I cannot promise anything.
