I agree with Highness. My second thought after seeing the Mario 64 run (after "Blast Corps") was "Turok". A fast run, mowing down dinosaurs and bosses in Turok, would rule.

Super Smash Bros. - bonus levels. (Perhaps someone going through all characters in the same run.) Would it be possible to allow a hacked rom that has all characters enabled but no other changes?

Recording from a savestate that has all characters would be better I think.

There's no support for that yet in this emulator, so for now it would be a save state of the battery save anyway. And in general, even battery saves can contain things that shouldn't be there (think of a game like FF3/6j where the character's stats can be changed to impossible values, or characters that aren't supposed to be obtainable can be added). That is unlikely in a fighting game such as this, but in that case, there is not much reason to trust a save state from immediately after a reset less than a battery save.

How does Mupen 64 store save files, then?

I meant, there's currently no support for it to work with playing back a movie. It stores them as files, is how it stores them.

Does anyone know of a good place where I can download Nintendo 64 Roms? Well, a place that hasn't already been shut down I mean? >> I have very few N64 Roms, and I'd like to have more, considering I have two N64 emulators that work with them now.. Well, anyway..

If that's not against the rules here, I don't know what is.

Well. I'll try Search Engines then, hehe. Sorting the crap sites from the good sites will be tough, but it'll be worth it ifI can actually download the roms. And if it is against the rules, I'm sorry. ;3

I'd suggest the San Fransisco Rush series, getting all ...whatever-you-collected... but NONE of the three games emulates right in PJ64. ;_;
San Francisco Rush would make for very interesting TASes, especially compared to most racing games. With rerecording and frame advance, it's probably even possible to win every race while getting all the keys. The sequels have more things to collect and far more tracks, though, which could make TASes tedious to watch (even with all the shortcuts and, in Rush 2049, wing tricks).

I suggest Shadow Man. It's not a commonly-heard-of game, but it's really interesting. It plays well on Project 64 (don't know about Mupen, though. >_>;), and only a few things are very slightly off about the game. The game itself is kinda like a really dark, adult version of Mario 64. The only thing I'd be worried about is the language, which almost all of can be skipped. It's bloody, violent, and really pretty cool overall. It's a non-linear game, though. VERY non-linear. I honestly think it would be a really cool game to speedrun.

I agree. It would make a great TAS, just like watching a horror movie.

unless theres a major glitch or something to exploit, i wouldnt find it too interesting considering mashy's run over at SDA. just my input, though i agree its a great game, im not sure how it would work for a TAS.

Well, there are lots of places enemies can be skipped, and about ALL of the projectiles in the game can be dodged fairly easily. Emulation for the game is really good from what I can see (On Project 64, at least). And it's got quite a bit of potential. There are a few jumps that can be fudged to get to high areas which I consider damn near impossible to hit realtime; it might be useful to hit a govi or two with some extra speed. I've only really been playing it for a little bit, but I honestly think it would make a good TAS. Whoever does this run, good luck. :)

What's with this "On Project 64, at least"? Test it in Mupen before you start recommending it.

The Tony Hawk games would be interesting, if the goal was to complete every task on each level in one attempt (hell, maybe even one huge combo!)

I had this idea a couple of months ago, but then I realized that Tony Hawk games on the N64 looks like crap.

Well, if I could download it, then I would test it. I was hoping someone else would say "Oh, Mupen doesn't work for that. Sorry". I've been having trouble getting the download to go until recently; my internet is really bad at times. Anyway, I'm trying to download it now, and I'm hoping Mupen gets it right. It should, for the most part, but we'll see, won't we? :) Edit: What the heck? Mupen freezes on the beginning, where it shows the Mask of Shadows on the screen. The music plays fine, but the FPS counter freezes, and it stays there. Anyone got a fix for it, perhaps?
