The enemy object appears as you reach a certain place in the level, then once you scroll the enemy onto the screen to a certain place, it starts twitching. After 6 twitches (35 frames), it attacks. Attacks are global timer dependent. I really don't think you can manipulate them some magical way, just do simple tests.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Some small improvements which sum up an better position when climbing up, jumping higher after the monkey and the platform with the item box which let's me do 3 boosts. Also I found out that it's possible to carry the odd rule to the next level, I don't lose the 25 speed then.

Good WIP.I find two glitch in this game,perhaps someone has known them,but I will write them here. 1:left+right at the edge of the wall,can make the hero get more Y-pos power.Oh,I mean hero can jump more higher. 2:1P can hit enemy(whose HP is in odd ram) double harm with level2 or level3 sword in a specific position,and 2P can hit enemy(whose HP is in even ram) double harm with level2 or level3 sword in a specific position.Unfortunately,all the Boss's HP is 07F8,it's Even numbers.But I think it will eventually help. Here's another WIP up to 1-2: User movie #23991902808928296 It's faster by 4 frames. The old WIP wasn't enough to break the frame-rule, one frame to slow. So I needed to save that one. The frame-rule stops on lag-frame, which means every reduced lag frame is one saved frame, even if it doesn't save time at first.

So since there's some TAS work being done for this game right now (AWESOME!), I'll drop this here: Link to video It's an older discovery, and chances are it's already known about, but since I never actually publicly shared this due to lack of proper opportunity (not that I can remember anyway), might as well do it now. Due to resources needed, and the slow execution duration of the special, there'd have to be a fairly significant skip for this to save time anywhere. Doubtful, but something to be mindful of I guess.

This game... The frame-rule can't be beaten. Because there's no memory address for the frame-rule so I can't see the value. Xipo's 1-3 doesn't sync anymore, because of the shorter loading in my version. And everything I do does not match time...

Another one frame improvement in 1-2, two lag frames saved. This was made out of a old WIP, which had better climbing, but it lagged in the section with the enemy boost too much that it lost time. Now I managed to improve it by delaying the sword attack before the enemy boost. While doing the enemy boost I get 3 more frames of lag compared to the earlier WIP I posted, I really want get rid of these.

Here's 1-4: User movie #25329848427765914 The frame-rule can't be beaten, one frame too slow. 2 frames need to be saved to start 1-4 earlier. And the boss fight couldn't be improved. I only saved 10 frames over Xipo due to lag reduction. If the frame-rule can be beaten it would be 26. Link to video

That looked totally awesome! Great work :) I wish I could offer some advice or something else but again, it looked really polished. Regarding the first boss, I assume there is no other way to jump over him and then deliver the final hits? Did you try taking a damage instead of jumping over him? I know taking damage is so bad in this game.

Some progress in 2-1 User movie #28553562917469123 I almost managed to save a frame before the mid boss, but according to xipo the boss behaves wheter the fight starts on an even or odd frame. Three frames saved afterwards by starting the steam cycle 3 frames earlier, I think it's possible to get one more, that would require me to start the steam cycle one frame later by good positioning of the camera.

Delaying the steam wasn't possible, but I managed to start it 7 frames earlier. A lot of frames saved on the climbing section. And general lag reduction afterwards. The improvement peak is at ~30 frames. On the section when I have the homing shuriken the lag gets really intense, I loose about 10 frames there, due to the the steam cycle being different. Here's a WIP up to 2-3. So far 50 frames faster. The frame rule was beaten due to beating the boss faster, by adding a sword beam before the first bomb hits him. Also 2-1 has been improved and has a better steam section, but there still might be some lag to reduce, but not to much that it doesn't overflow the frame-rule as well as 2-2 where time was saved by doing a boost after getting bombs.

WIP of 3-1 is here. Now 109 frames faster. Improvements come from attacking the first enemy, which prevents him from shooting to the right; better zipping glitch, including odd-rule after the zip to get speed to 25; and not being hesistant using the shurikens. Frame-rule is very tight this time. Only lag improvement wouldn't save time, but position and lag improvement would, but it looks quite hard in this stage.

New WIP. Now 235 frames faster. Killing the enemies in 4-1 with two hits was a huge downtime, I never got it to work, but then Xipo told me the sword beam passes enemies every second hit, that's why I hit the cannon before the enemies. Then some genereal lag reduction afterwards, leading to 46 frames improvement. 4-2 is mostly improved by positioning, 39 frames improved. And, well 4-3 isn't improved, but frame-rule offset improved it by 8 frames.
