thanks a lot kdx7 I was looking for some TAS WIPs for this game. BTW does anyone know if running in japanese would save time and if it would around how much time. I could give english subtitles in order to not lose out on the entertainment value for english speaking viewers

Oh really, that sucks, without stacking mega and power rush there is no quick way to beat bowser in 2 moves (24 bp would take 7 level ups and then I wouldn't have enough fp, I would need to get a quick change and a 2nd power plus badge) thanks for the notification
Tidal Wave's power maxes out at 13 damage. The animation is quite long, however, so it probably won't be used in a TAS.
Also, to answer a few other questions, an excerpt from an old post of mine (originally found here):
And just to dash any hopes, you can't skip the 3-minute Twink vs. Kammy cutscene. If you do at least 99 damage to Bowser #3 in the first two rounds of battle (which is possible to do), he simply keeps fighting at 0 HP. When you return to the battle after the cutscene, he has 1 HP, allowing for a very quick finish.
I came about the above situation by abusing Merlee's battle boosts, which appear to not be random at all. I saved in Bowser's castle and started to fight enemies, making sure that Mario used a Hammer or Jump attack every round. I noticed that after a certain number of rounds (the number of battles didn't matter), Mario received the +3 attack boost from Merlee. After resetting, Mario would once again get the attack boost on the specified round, even if it was a different battle. If Mario didn't use a Hammer or Jump attack on that particular round, nothing would happen, and he wouldn't get the boost on the next round either.
So what I did was fight until the round before he was supposed to get the boost (time the current battle to finish at the right time), and then save and go fight Bowser. Sure enough, I got the +3 attack boost in the first round of battle.
So I equipped both Power Plus's, All or Nothing, P up-D down, and Mega Rush, and started the battle at 1 HP. I had Watt use Turbo Charge on Mario before Mario attacked on the first round. Combined with the attack boost from Merlee, this meant that the first 5-hit Power Bounce did 55 damage (13 + 12 + 11 + 10 + 9). The next round, Watt did 5 with Electro Dash, and Mario did 40 (10 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6). In case you're wondering, I had to use Close Call to have Bowser's attack miss. I was annoyed to find (after Tattling) that he had 0 HP.

As of typing, two skips adding to about 1min 30seconds (according to the runner) found in the volcano. Skipping the block pushing puzzle to the super hammer room, and skipping the boulder that opens up the Heart block room.
It looks like some new OoB clips have been discovered.

Both of these would be done right after getting Parakarry in Chapter 2.
It's great to see these skips. Does the game allow you to skip chapters 3 and 4 like that and just give you the Star Spirits and party members you skipped?

It has a LUA hud and is aware of the major sequence breaks thus far (black toad skip via OoB, the 'pie double jump' in chapter 1). Hopefully he will do lava pirahna skip, etc :D
If you haven't been keeping up with any% of this game, the lava pirahna skip means you do almost nothing in chapter 5 - you get sushi, glitch into the volcano, glitch out of the volcano without fighting the boss and peace out to chapter 6.

My thoughts on the Japanese TAS so far:
1. It might be faster to grab 2 Goomba nuts (giggity) in the village instead of just 1 from the tree. You can grab 1, leave the village, come back in, and grab another. It would eliminate 2 attack phases in the Red/Blue Goomba fight by eating it mid fight to use the Power Bounce move again for 3x damage. Reentering the village may take too long, but it's just a thought.
2. He should have bought 1 extra fright jar at the shop to deal with the enemies in the sewer to avoid an unnecessary fight. It is only 5 coins, which can easily be earned back from the spinning fire in the fortress. Those things drop 10 coins, which means Mario can avoid collecting 5 coins elsewhere.
3. I hope he collects enough money to buy magic from the wizard Merlee at Desert Outpost. If summoned during battle, she makes Mario do 2x damage, which would make any boss be 1HKOd.
I also want to thank Patashu for posting this. This is even better than the any% run snark was working on, and it looks like there are optimizations everywhere. I really hope the runner continues working on this.
