SoulCal's post was indicating the Wii version. Your posts (kusoman) are indicating the GameCube version. If you can make that initial jump in the Wii version, then please, go ahead. Otherwise, try to keep in mind what version is being talked about at the time, as we already know (or I hope we know...) that it's possible on the GameCube version. In the future, if you're going to add something else within a few minutes, and not in response to another post, it is much preferred that you edit your latest post instead of making a new one.

Video or article links or it didn't happen. I'm very encouraged by your enthusiasm and I'm hopeful you will continue to work toward posts that contain actual content. A.C. ******

Wow, you can get early icebeam too? I highly doubt that's possible. After all, nobody in this huge thread has ever seen a Metroid Prime Speed run before.

In the Japanese Wii remake, yes, but it's more complicated since you can't just jump up the spider ball track normally. You'd have to double jump after a bomb went off to get the height to do it. However, there's an invisible wall in the furnace room prior to obtaining the spider ball upgrade in the Trilogy version, preventing any sort of sequence breaking there. And that's just from practicing and researching. So do your homework next time please? I wasnn't too rude, was I? :( I was, I knew it. Sorry. :'(

You can wallcrawl around every block added in Trilogy, Ice Beam can be collected early as long as you have bombs basically.

Idk, but if you want to try, it was supposedly fixed in a revision 3 months ago.

This is easily explainable. You didn't say what revision of Dolphin you were using, but I'm going to assume the latest as of when that video was posted, so, yeah. Perfect load times are impossible because different consoles/drives have different read speeds. It's never going to be identical to console. Every revision of the GameCube/Wii and even sometimes between revisions have different enough parts to affect load times. What we did for verifying Metroid Prime as working properly with load times was try and make sure two things were happening. 1: Instant load times weren't happening 2: And we had a trick that wasn't possible on Dolphin verified as working. (Early IceBeam, if I remember correctly) We can fairly easily slowdown Dolphin's loading even more (assuming it works the way I think it does) but no matter what we do, different games will trigger different things. By accurate load times, we say that realistically, some revision of the console should get load times like this in most games. Depending on how games load though, it's never going to be exactly like every revision of the console. I hope that explains things to a reasonable degree.

Yeah, it should be said if the console side is a black or white wii for example because they have measurably different loading times

Console loads vary by a matter of frames with metroid prime, this is over 2 seconds. I am well aware of how difficult it is to emulate proper loading with metroid prime, I've personally messed around with changing the load times and talked with a couple of people who really know what they're doing about it. I did not expect loads to actually be fixed when I made this comparison, I only brought it up in this thread because people in my Twitch chat were saying loads were fixed now, and I wanted to see for myself if that was the case. At any rate, this revision with "fixed loads" is still far too inaccurate for me to waste my time messing around with.

Understandable. I don't think anyone really claimed they were perfect, only that they were now emulated rather than instantly loading everything. Better, but not fixed enough is unfortunate, as I don't have enough technical knowhow to try and make them any better myself. And, there's the case of other games being affected adversely.

This is false.

Well thank god you aren't because that attitude ain't also 100% properly fixed. There are plenty of others including myself who will one day tas this game. It's only a matter of finding proper time and determination.

I guess I should clarify that one of the primary goals of the disc-transfer rate branch (at least from my part testing/relaying information) was to make sure Metroid Prime acted as if it were on console. I did time Metroid Prime compared to console, and a Taser did verify that early icebeam worked on emulator, so we did deem it "fixed." There's not really much more that can be done to get globally perfect disc times. The sad fact is that the Wii and GameCube would load as fast as Dolphin with no load times if they weren't limited by media; which is one of the reasons why devs once said there was no point to accurately implement loading times. This is a pretty fair compromise right now. Games should load similar to console, the glitches in Metroid Prime should work on Dolphin (I'd hope) and it should be a relatively similar experience to viewers, tasers, and speedrunners viewing the game regardless of emulator or console. Maybe someday it will get better; for years everyone said loading times would never get implemented at all! I remain hopeful that it'll be up to the standards that everyone expects.
