So does that let you keep morph ball and grappling hook from the start? Also what do accurate loads have to do with that?

Just to spell out what's happening here. At 0:28, the cap blocking the entrance to the vent shaft tunnel blows up, opening the doorway to the next room. This is a unique occurrence in this game because it's the only instance in the game where the next room opens at a fixed point in time rather than once it's finished loading. This normally isn't a problem because the tunnel loads fully before you can get to it. However, itsPersonnal went fast enough that he beat the load and got into the tunnel before the next room was finished loading, which allowed him to go out of bounds. This trick wasn't even known to be possible before (although it was theorized). As a result he was able to skip most of the escape and save nearly a minute. If the loads were too fast then this trick would not have been possible. So far it's looking like having accurate, slow loads is -faster- than having the inaccurate, faster ones.

Also, this does not let you skip the Item Loss sequence. There's a second item loss during the landing sequence, so even if you skip the item loss from the escape, you're still gonna lose your stuff. Link to video

I am loving every second of this Metroid Prime work. Amazing so far! (The spinning and shooting makes me kinda nauseous but I'll live :P)

What did I just watch o_o This TAS needs to be completed, it will basically be the best thing ever.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

That OoB is new to me! Fantastic work! Unfortunate you lose abilities anyway...but great time save no doubt. Out of curiosity, what would happen if you backtracked OoB and saved the game at the save station during the escape sequence? Any odd effects?

Basically all the progress I've made so far was over Spring Break. I don't have time or energy to be working on it currently. I've got a lot of irl things piling up, plus this is my final year of highschool, so I need to be focusing a little more on that. For reference, the SA2 Hero Story TAS took 8 months to make, and it's half the length of Metroid Prime. Not to mention, I don't have any co-authors on this one. Don't expect me to be speeding through this project because it's going to take at least a year or two realistically.
