I said I wouldn't do this, but this game was too much fun... This run is a little over 1 minute faster than the previous run of this game. I don't think I could possibly describe it better than Walker Boh already did, so read the author's comments of that if you're unfamiliar with Kabuki Quantum Fighter or have never heard of an "elite headbanger" before.
  • aims for fastest time
  • manipulates luck
  • takes damage to save time
  • abuses programming errors in the game
Made with FCEU 0.98.15, also works in previous versions through 0.98.12
Most of the time saved comes from some new glitches with conveyor belts/water and spikes and ice, and from using stronger weapons on the bosses and fighting them even more aggressively, a few small route changes, and more damage-taking.
When I pause for no apparent reason it's often for luck manipulation, especially in the final battle where the number of attacks done by certain points in time determine how long the boss stays out of reach later. The final battle would have been faster if I'd had more ammo, but I chose to use more of that on earlier bosses that would have done more time-wasting things if not killed fast enough. How much ammo to use in each battle and level was planned out beforehand based mainly on the HP of bosses and what delays they had.
OK, I think that's it. And no more TAS-making for me for a while...

Very nice movie. In the first stage, you move so fast that the PPU can't keep up with the pace and thus there are some screen scrolling artifacts.

Well done! I just watched it. However... Coulden't it be improved at some points as you have more health than needed? I think you collect some extra health in a level and doesn't waste it again. Haven't read all the replies so perhaps someone already mentioned it? Indeed a yes-vote though!

I think I only collect health in one level (the last one), and I used all of it in that level. Actually it could probably be improved by wasting less health so I don't have to collect as much later. FYI, each point of health costs 2 frames at the end of each level and boss fight. And you need to keep at least 1 unit of health to not die, of course. I could've saved 2 frames by not jumping to get hit by a laser in the 2nd to last boss (and probably 2 more frames by taking another hit directly), that much was mentioned before.

Nitsuja, do you think it's worth wasting ~10 frames for luck manipulation to get 3 extra chips in the last level? I think it is because you get 2 extra dynamites. But in the other hand, chip countdown is about 12-20 frames slower :/

You mean the 2nd-to-last level, right? I only had to slow down ~3 frames in that case to get 3 chips and collect them, and (unless I screwed this up) it happened while I had to wait for that spike thing to pass by anyway. Every chip (or at least, every two chips) helps beat the bosses in less hits, which I thought would be enough faster to compensate.

There is another spot at the very end of the last level where you can easily get 3 chips.

I think you're talking about where I had to get a health refill instead to avoid dying. Getting the 3 chips there and also getting those 3 earlier would probably be best. If there's some way to go into the final battle with a full 30 chips, that would cut down on that battle's length considerably. To beat every boss after the 2nd one as fast as possible would require 90 chips, and you only get 66 chips for it from playing through the levels without getting refills. So getting a total of 8 3-chip refills somewhere might save time overall...

I took health pickup from the first "hanging enemy" of the last level, it might be faster to take health there and take those 2 chips pickups later.

I would have liked it more if he crashed the game at the end. ;) Yes vote.
