Gangplank Galleon: Used warp-barrel in every stage. At the boss I locked the screen so that the boss would throw the egg earlier.
Crocodile Cauldron: Same as Gangplank, warp-barrel in every stage. At the boss I used Dixie so that I could hit the boss faster.
Krem Quay: Water level desynced lot, there wasn't any other problems with it.
Krazy Kremland: In the 4th level I took + barrel which speeded things up. In the end of 5th level I had to do a slight turn so that I could get the barrel shot by enemy to dissapear faster so I could finish faster. In level 6 I used a shortcut.
Gloomy Gulch: In level 4 didn't use any parrots, that's why I had to take a hit at the end. I used a little glitch in 5th level, I took damage from enemy so I could jump again from air.
K.Rool's Keep: All 3 castle levels desynced A LOT! Don't know what caused it. I abused a glitch in level 3 and got myself in the wall :D In 5th level climbing caused lot of problems becasue of desync. I could only advance small sections.
The Flying Krock: Nothing special here. Bees turned up from nowhere because of a glitch. I used flying enemy for my advantage in the rope section. Nothing special at the boss, I only did some funny tricks there.
Thanks to Guybrush, he help me with the txt :)

This run amazed me! It has been a really long time since I last played the game. Damn it was made fast. Totaly crazy! Good work!

I just watched the run and there are many great moments I liked such as catching up to the guy who throws TNT in Screech's Sprint, making the blue guy get angry and then let him get crushed in Castle Crush (also all the bee "killing"), and of course, all of Parrot Chute Panic. However, there are some nitpicks I wanted to bring up. These are just things I wanted to make sure you're considering. Maybe what you have is already fastest for some or all of them. 1) I think the Squawks shortcut in Toxic Tower might be faster, too. Also what SpiDeY said about Squawks in Castle Crush. 2) In Rickety Race, you don't have to run into the back of anybody. IIRC you can get a speed boost instead by stomping on the first guy (jump earlier). I'm sure you tested and found that short hopping downhill is best btw. 3) In Toxic Tower with Rattly, you don't have to do near the number of A button jumps that you do. For all of the ones (most of them) that are barely out of normal jump reach, you can do a short step (what happens if you just hold say Y and right) and jump to get the necessary height. This technique might be useful elsewhere as well, but I can't think of any in particular right now. 4) In Screech's Sprint, there are two path choices I'm wondering about. After you get the hidden barrels to blast you left and up, as soon as the vertical path opens up, you can veer left immediately and get another two hidden barrels to blast you up and to the right. Also, right after the part where you squeeze through a small gap to the left, you can go straight down and squeeze through another small gap, instead of going around the bramble structure. All of these come from normal playing though, so obviously you would know better than I do.

Somebody please correct the typo in the submission text: "Filename of the ROM used Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0).smv". I suppose there should be "smc".

Very nice. I especially liked the parts where you control the bird or climb ropes fast. My only suggestion would be to get hit by some of those poison clouds that do things like reverse your controls and stuff, in the final fight. I watched the avi version and using vlc I had some problems watching it, I think my comp was just not fast enough to decompress on some levels, specifically the ones in brambles or honey combs, which is unfortunate because these are some of the nicest levels. Is there a way to use less cpu intensive compression? How much bigger would the filesize be?
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

1) Yeah Castle Cursh bonus shortcut is faster. I use that v2. 2) I tested battery thing. Its slower if i don't collect battery. 3) I try use normal jumps, but they are too short. I have to charge. 4) I tested that too and it's slower if i go corner barrel.

Magnificent run, as previously said, Parrot Chute Panic was ridiculously sexy... best run of all the DKC runs IMO. Star worthy even, one of the best I've seen in a while.

Sami, here are some pictures to explain what I mean. 1) What about this path instead of going up? This way you don't have to kill any bees. I am not sure which way is faster though, but SpiDeY mentioned it and I agree with him. 2) I think we are talking about different levels. Anyway, I was saying you don't have to run or jump "through" anybody. For the first guy, if you jump a little earlier, you can land on top of him, which I think is quicker. 3) I wasn't talking about normal jumps exactly. What I mean is, you know how Rattly hops along while "walking"? You can do a short hop and normal jump from the height of the hop (shown here), and this clears many of the jumps where you use A. This might also be useful in other Rattly levels. 4) After you go through a small gap to the left, you can then go through this gap here while going down. This is faster than going around to the far left, which is what you did.

Hello, I have tried to access this movie through bittorrent but there are no seeds. It is not on google video. And the rom available online is version 1.1 (not 1.0) and stops working at the first boss with the movie file. If anyone could point me to a working rom or upload it to google video that would be great.

>Hello, I have tried to access this movie through bittorrent but there are no seeds. It is not on google video. It's strange that there are no seeds, usually they appear automatically after someone starts trying to download the file. For how long did you leave the download running? (Not at all?) >And the rom available online is version 1.1 (not 1.0) and stops working at the first boss with the movie file. Thanks for the asnwers Truncated, and sorry I didn't read the Rules and FAQ before. You are right, I did not leave bittorrent open for very long, I think I left it for about 20 minutes and when I checked it there was no progress so I closed it. Google Video seems to be the best way to share these movies, though.

the level before castle crush, he could of sacrficied one of his monkeys to save time to get hit by the bee when passing the three bees since in caslte crush there is another monkey barrel.

Are you sure it saves enough time to get the DK-barrel?

YEah , he gets the barrel anyways in castle crush and uses it, so you might as well in the previous level when he is going under the three bees lose one of your monkeys to save time.

So he has both monkeys when he gets the barrel?

In windy well at 33:15 he waits to go under the third bee instead of getting hit to save time. Perhaps he can hit by the first bee and have enough time to bypass the 2 remaining bees so he doesnt have to wait. In Castle Crush at 33:58 he grabs the DK barrel at about 33:59 he kills the guy with the two swords standing in his way to turn into the Rhino. So the point is he can get hit by one of the bees in the previous level to save time since in the next level he will get one of his monkeys back. Let me know if you want me to explain this again.

Does he have both Diddy and the other chimp? You realise that the level stops scrolling when other monkey comes from the barrel? And it also takes time to take damage.

No, I ate the other chimp it was delicious. Please read my post over again, it doesnt matter that the level stops scrolling because he is waiting anyways, he can get hit and go through the two bees.

Yes, he's waiting because the level is an autoscroller. Getting the barrel stops the scrolling so it makes the level slower. But this is kinda unnecessary conversation because Arne found a way to skip the whole level, as far as I know. EDIT: I want to see the IRC logs ;)

YIKESSSSSSSSSSS ! IM GOING TO GO CRAZY TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO YOU. THis is how he normally does it : in windy well (HAVING TWO MONKEYS) at 33:15 he waits to go under the third bee instead of getting hit to save time. Then in the next level in castle crush he still has the two monkeys and he has to use the DK barrel to kill the enemy to get to the RHino. THis is how he should do it to save some time. in windy well get hurt by one of the bees to sacrifice a monkey to bypass the two remaining bees to save time, then in the next level you have one monkey you need to use the DK barrel to get pass the enemey and to get to the rhino and you will get your other chimp back.

And you're obivously a bit slow guy (mentally) because you don't realise that when getting the other monkey, everything other than the chimp coming out of the barrel, stops. I don't recall now if Windy Well is a level with the parrot, if it's not, when taking damage everything stops again. It takes time, so it might not save time.

ok, that might be right, but you are making fun of me saying I'm a bit slow when you didnt understand how many monkeys he has? By logic reasoning of my explanation you could of figured out how many monkeys he had at CASTLE crush. Cause I told you that in the previous level he could of gotten in hit to save time, now concluding from that you know he has two monkeys and he didnt get hit to save time so that means he has two monkeys still , and then he still has two monkeys in the next level.

windy well is not an auto scroller , he has to wait for the wind to go down or whatever.
