Fun. Start(ed) at Level 9, no re-records or slowdown. Still uses the re-recording FCEU... Get it (How long until Acmlm tries this? heh) (edit: my personal, on-console record is over 400,000 -- I still have the napkin I wrote it on taped to my door at my grandparents' house, so when I go there I'll update this with it)

Wow. I've only ever managed to get up to around 180,000 before starting from level 9.

My mom pwnz you, she used to play Tetris a lot when I was a kid. Whenever I came from school, she'd be sitting on the floor playing tetris with glazed eyes and the first thing she said was "I know what this looks like but I really haven't been playing all day long". I think her record was a bit over 760,000 starting from level 9. And she's NEVER played any other pc/console game. Guess it shows how awesome and addictive the game is. Well, anyway, I suck at Tetris so you won't be seeing a movie from me.

Wouldn't you have to go beyond level 19 to get a score like that? I've never gotten past level 19.

It increases speed by brick count and not by line count ;_; So after 3 minutes, what's the difference between it and death? Oh well I hit #20 on 2nd play.

;_; it brought my computer to a grinding screetching halt. Then again my computer was slow in the mid 90s.

We need a real tetris clone, with Tetris DX's handling, scoring, leveling, etc.... though that clone is nice, it just stinks because of the junky leveling system. =|

Tetris DX sucks. Play Tetris 3.

I used that levelling system because the standard one takes too bloody long to get going. If you want Tetris DX, then go play Tetris DX.

Tetris DX does not suck and neither does Sprintgod's! I've never played Tetris 3, but N64 Tetris was another one of my favorites.

SprintGod: Your version of Tetris is very good :) One thing it needs, though, is a boss key.

The only real problems I have with it anymore (heh) are how it sporadically plays music, the horrible grating game start/end sounds, and the sheer lag induced by the block clear animation. "Medium" quality is ok, but any time you clear (especialy near top of screen) it lags, and Low doesn't show points scored, nor block 'stick'ing... (also: 2nd for "Death" score)

Yes I agree SprintGod's version is very good. But I cite the same concerns, Low quality doesn't have visual information about stickiness (I don't really care so much about score). Anyway Tetris 3 is much much MUCH better than Tetris DX which sucks.

Everyone with speed problem, try running directly the swf. It runs faster for me. 50% faster.

SprintGod I would just like to say this is the best online tetris I have played by far. The controls are great! But, how does the scoring work? I've gotten 4-point tetrises!

Block Placement Level + Depth, with 1 point deducted for every 30 seconds that have passed. Dropping Blocks Level + 1 for each square it falls through with the 'drop' key held, with 1 point deducted for every 30 seconds that have passed. Lines Each line in a combo is processed separately from the bottom up, and is subject to 3 multipliers:
  • Level + 1
  • Depth + BlockCount (reduced by 1 every 3 seconds)
  • 2, 4, 8 or 16 depending on the order the line is checked
None of the above will ever be below zero, but it is possible to get into a situation where nothing gets you points if you take too bloody long.
