Just throwing out this idea. Has a time attack for this game been considered? It could be completed resonably quick, it's sort of hard, and there are a lot of cool jumps to show off on. What does the inhabitants think? Would it be interesting?

Yepp, actually I've looked a bit into this game, and I was thinking about doing a 2 player run. I tried the first level and then a bit on level 8, but I didn't get to do more due to school work. But now when school is done for the summer I should have some time to make this run. We'll see.

That's nice to hear. I will be looking forward to it. If you have tried levels 1 and 8, I assume you take the warp in the first level?

I looove this game, but i'm afraid that too much time would be spent eating the pibbles? It could get tedious, but I could also easily be wrong. A two player version would be very quick. I personally would like to see a non-warp version, skipping directly to level 8 is kind of ghetto, and the game is so fun to watch anyway.

i vote all levels. anyone can warp! maybe there can be two versions. I feel that the time attacks have different goals: first theres the one which attempts to actually beat the game as QUICKLY as possible. then there is the kind which attempts to play through the game as PERFECTLY as possible. both have their merits but I think this game has wonderful levels and stuff and the 2nd type serves it better.

Faster timeattacks tend to get published with a video, but full run-throughs without warps usually get at least a FMV. So if you have the SRAR rom, you can watch it anyway if it's done.

Yes. Warps are so cheap and lame. :( Part of the fun of watching these videos is the scenery. Some levels we have never seen (because we have never been able to beat the game) and skipping them with a warp is a big disappointment, compared to seeing a master at work.

Ha, I just finished and sent Bisq a quick (warps) single player one. Honestly though, that game is so bad. The snakes control like they're on butter, then you put them on inclined ice. I'm amazed that I had the patience to play it back in the day, now that I've fully experienced and can appreciate the poor control scheme.

i know this is an old topic but i just want to say that i'm doing a full run right now, just passed level 5, and its really quite fun to do perfectly. It's terrible controlling and getting things perfect when making the movie in this game but I think it looks pretty good when its going at full speed. It bothers me having to get so many niblets though all the time.

ok. it has been ages since I have played this game the last time (just when it was releaesed on cartridge here in switzerland, a friend of mine lent it to me because it was too difficult for him). The only thing I remember is how incredibly difficult that thing has been (never got behind level 3 or so [shame on me]). I'm always quite disappointed when on my daily visit the page has not been updated with other runs ;-) PPS: When I first came here, rerecording for SNES-Emulators was just a dream. Now it seems to becoming true which I'm also really looking forward to - the graphics and sounds simply are better which should make watching the videos even more impressive. PPPS: Don't exspect speedruns from me. Even when using savestates just for not dying (read: not so often), I'm constantly hitting the wrong button and just saving my death. Stupid and completely suboptimal for creating speedruns - besides I'm not a great gamer either. Just a really passionate speedrun-watcher. Keep up the great work. It's sooo much fun to watch those videos.

pilif - i was also surprised at how fast this game went by, I remember taking my SWEET time trying to get past some of the levels without dying, and sometimes the game is so fast paced its hard to tell whats going on. Collecting pibbles takes a little time but the pibble generators are really random and depending on what buttons youve pressed, they will shoot out different colors. So, i dance around in the video a lot to get the yellow and orange ones. The only pibble eating that takes time is the water level which is kinda tedious, but fun to play in the real game. Hopefully my improved version will be sent in today, and in the next update your wish will be granted :)

How can we make the "FMV" to an Avi-File? I know, this Run could easily made much better, but we love it. ;-) My friend and me had completed "Snake Rattle'n Roll (E)" with Famtasia 5.1. It's not a perfect run, but it's very funny. The Speedrun has got some funny mistakes, we made. But at least, it's a nice Speedrun, you should download. My friend (JackTheRipper2k) is the red one and me ([Rom]Seeker), is the blue one. The hardest Level for us, was the Ice-Level. It has very complicated ways and Enemys. First off, I have to say that it was a good attempt--both of you managed to work together to reach the top. However, I have a few complaints; 1. The both of you, either independently or together, moved far too slowly at times. It actually seemed like you were hesitating a lot over what to do; there were a few points in the video where I thought it had gone out of sync, because there was so much inaction. Loosen up and try going faster--though on the flip side, I really liked how you worked together to get all the Pibbleys in the bonus stage. 2. The teamwork I saw was...less than perfect. If you want to show a 2-player game where it's not just a copy of Player 1's movements, the proper thing to do is at least make sure Player 2 keeps up; I could see the moments where you or him were like, "Anschlag hier! HIER! Jetzt Wartezeit... drei, zwei, eins... jetzt! SPRUNG JETZT!" It didn't look so smooth, I'm afraid. Anyway, I applaud the effort, no matter what.

Viewer: Thanks for your comment. :-) Yeah, you're right with "Jetzt! Hier, springen, jetzt!" etc. ;-) We give us commands, to play perfectly together, but we know it's not perfect, because we record some death's of us. I think we'll try it again, better than the old one. At the Endboss (Last Level) we lose to much time in that TimeAttack. But it should be funny to watch, not really perfect. I know, bisqwit would'nt do it to the Nesvideos-Collection, 'cause it's not perfect. But i think it's not very interessting to watch perfect movies. I like, when you see some mistakes, that the players made. Greets; Spawn!

hey spawn, i watched a little of the movie, looked fun, but it did take too long... but since i love this game its always fun to watch. I have already completed a timeattack of the game on 1 player that takes about 10 minutes, that may be going up some time soon. When it comes out, get it, I'm sure you will like it! keep up the good work :)

It's hard to make runs perfect, I've not made a run of my own. But maybe someday I will, @ megaman 2 or something :> I've watched over hundreds of timeattacks & speedruns, just love em ;D

I've been thinking about taking on this game for some time. To get used to it, I started by making a 1-player test run (currently the only publication for this game is a 2-player run) and when it was done I thought it might not be such a bad idea to also have a 1-player run on this site. Some differences in TAS perspective compared to the 2-player run include: Much less lag Easier to see what's going on (Sometimes in the 2-player run it's pretty hard to know which snake that's most relevant to watch) More food to collect Are there any interest in a 1-player run? You can check out this test run to get an idea what it would look like.
