Adbrite administration panel lets the site admin configure which kind of advertisements are suitable for their site, and various other options. I set something there, but so far I'm not safisfied of the results. It seems like adbrite is just advertising themselves most of the time. However, it all depends on how advertisers pay on the advertising (i.e. which sites they buy the ads to be published on), so I'll give it at least a chance. Also, the yahoo ads are profiting much less than I thought they will (my estimate in autumn was that the first batch of $100 will show in November, but it is still less than that, i.e. no pay (minimum one-time payment is $100)). This means that I might eventually remove them alltogether because they're possibly more trouble (in the form of slowed down page load times and generally being annoying by mere concept) than they're worth. Mostly it depends on how annoyed I get of the advertisements :) I whitelist tasvideos on adblock because I want at least to see myself what kind of viewing experience is provided to others.

I just had to wait for the main page to load. At first I though your server was busy or the connection was slow, then I noticed the text in my browser's status bar: "Waiting for adbrite.com..." Is there a reasonable way to put both ad boxes at the end of the html code without breaking the layout, to prevent browsers from waiting for them before rendering the page?

That's what I wanted to find out right before Google kicked me out from their program. Anyway, the current layout of the tasvideos site loads the menubar last, and the adbar is the last item in the menubar, so it should be the best solution there is. The adbar in the frontpage newslisting is different though.

Can I sign up for the Yahoo! Publisher Network if I'm a part of another ad network? Yes, however, you are not permitted to display ads from the other network on the same page at the same time as your Yahoo! Publisher Network ads are displayed. I just read this @ Yahoo Publisher Network FAQ, and you are breaking this rule (Serving Google & Yahoo Ads Together)

I'm not displaying them on the same page at the same time. At different reloads different ads may be generated, but not at the same time.

As of now, I am removing the Google advertisements from the site because they produce a ridiculously low amount of revenue (takes more than two weeks to get a money worth a lunch) despite the high number of visitors, compared to the annoyance of having advertisements on the site in the first place. Everybody rejoice. :I Yes, they could have been more profitable if I made them more prominent ― and two orders of magnitude more annoying ― but I don't want to go that way. I may still look into some other advertising campaigns, but my hopes are not high. In any case, this is not a threshold question*; the site is in no danger of going down given the status quo, even if no money is received. *) Finnism. I don't know the applicable term in English. "Kynnyskysymys" (pronounced IPA:/kynːysˈkysymys/), here translated literally as "threshold question" means an issue that must be solved before something else can happen.

I think this is because fair number of visitors on this site are fairly computer literate and most likely use some form of ad blocking. (As do I, but I usually let Google Ads slip past)

I've seens a lot of website offering for advertisement. the guy at Ghacks.net blog for a living. So it might be possible to sell advertisement without being too anoying but probably visible at the top of the forums. As long as there is no popup and flash, I don't have any problem with advertisement.

I actually kinda miss them. The large white rectangular void at the bottom right of the forums main page seems to be very glaring to me now.

Oh hi, I do mockups in Paint Shop Pro :) ... just an idea, really. I don't even know if that's possible at all.
Gone.

Possibly the english colloquialism that you are searching for is: "deal-breaker."
