SMB2 TAS Peach only.

I have improved Genisto's TAS with 5 seconds. Not much but time is time. I guess I'm faster cause I'm using "Get enemy stuck in the floor" glitch and "Fall through the floor" glitch. And I'm using up+down fast climbing glitch which you can save much time on. And I'm fighting the Birdo bosses different. Sometime at the bosses you can see the eggs or the fire Birdo spits out pass through me. And on stage 1-2 picking up the enemy underneath the flying carpet which I also think I'm save time on. Try to be as precise as possible with the Jumping on the carpet. And as always I'm trying to beat the game fast as possible.

Have a nice show!

Maybe Diman's doing it on purpose, to demonstrate how we seem to like some game movies once but then don't want to accept them again.

its an improvement and it obsoletes a famtasia movie, i cant believe you people are voting no it can be improved? so what? if we were to take off every single movie that could be significantly (over 5 seconds) improved on this site there wouldn't be many left

There's no need for this run and it's sloppy, that's why we vote no.

We are already doing that. Slowly, game-by-game, replacing them with versions believed to be as optimal as current knowledge lets us, within tolerance for game length and ease of manipulation. There's no reason to obsolete a movie with a still-bad version when someone could just obsolete it with a good version and we'd have one less AVI floating around.

Voted no. I don't necessarily agree that the princess-only run should be removed, but this run is extremely lackluster in comparison to the newer runs. Watching this run approached being painful. It doesn't matter if your run is faster than the existing movie - the fact of the matter is that it obviously could be significantly improved beyond what you've done, and that's why I'm rejecting it. Put in the effort or don't submit the movie.

I think there is no need for a peach only run. If a peach only run is accepted, then so should a mario, luigi and toad only run... which would make a total of 6 SMB2 runs!

Everything that has the name 'SMB2' will get lots of downloads. If the pacifist metroid movie, which someone recently suggested, was made, it would also get a lot of downloads because the game is named metroid. I'm voting 'no' for this movie. I would probably have voted no if the peach only movie was perfectly played (since I don't think there should be a peach only movie at all)... but besides that, this movie can be improved by a lot.

... If it is known that a 9 minute movie can be improved by over 5 seconds (possibly 30) it will not be accepted. When the current peach movie was published, people thought it was perfect (or at least VERY close to it).

If you really want to have a silly run through the game with each character, then you may as well play that Yumekoujo Doki Doki Panic thing and submit a movie of that. Then you could show off differences between versions and stuff too.

I think I'm going to have to vote no on this. I think the game run exists so it should stay to be beaten. But I think there are a few things I think could be improved on... *Genisto I think had it right on 1-2 not even using the carpet. The only reason you do use the carpet was so you could get to the upper platform with toad. *You didn't use the false item trick! That would have easily saved you a few seconds, on top of princess being very slow picking up items. *You started using the autofire to select princess. From what I found, I think you can lose up to 3 frames every time you do that. *The vines could have been optimized. Study the warp run on the vines. It saves almost a second every time you do it right. *on 6-2 Birdo, you would have save a lot of time if you hadn't thrown that mushroom block. *on 6-3, why not use the glitch to hit brido and triclyde twice? again, princess picks up things very slow. *7-2, again, glitch to hit enemy twice in one shot? also...why did you fling the mushroom block that far from the crystal ball? Looks like the timing screwed you on the wart framerule too. With all that said I will have to cast my vote of no.

Being far from an expert in SMB2, I still noticed missing tricks in this run, and so I was disappointed. Voted no... Regardless, I'm not such a big fan of a Princess-only run anyway. Doesn't seem to be any more interesting than the regular run.

I approve of this being done for 1 reason...6-2. Great job. I enjoyed it, even if others didn't. YES vote.

Well, I havent watched the run.... So i cant vote yet..But from what im reading I do have Opinions.. The princess only run. It was made by Genisto, and I see no right in removing it. I say keep it there, or move it to the Demostration section. Also, Sabikage was being a little rude. Diman probably DID put effort into this run, and made an improvement. Its not his fault, but he did try his best. Its not easy to tas smb games. If Diman improves this version, by what Phil says 30 seconds(or 1 minute even) is possible, then i will probably watch it... Good luck Diman.

Sabikage may have been rude but he had the point there, this run aims to be as fast as possible and it fails to be achive this goal. Therefor it should be rejected. And for moving this run to concept demos section: If this run will be in there then people will start to submit all kinds of sloppy runs with something different than other runs such as "I use only 1 character in this run..." and say that they want this to be in concept demo section... or something like that. I'd like to reject this run but I'm no judge so I can't, no offense to Diman. EDIT: Diman, start posting WIPs (Work in progress) of your runs and this time, don't ignore this post this time, please.

Yes, but Diman still put his effort into this, its wrong to say he never. At the time, I put all my effort into my 2 rerecord battlemaniacs movie, and my 135 rerecord submission. It was so sloppy, but it doesn't mean my effort wasn't there. My knowledge of movie making was low. Same thing here, maybe Diman's knowledge of the SMB2 tricks was low. Now that he knows there are more tricks, and where to find them, his next movie wont be sloppy(if he does make the new version). About where this movie goes... I guess it is up to Bisqwit, if he cares if it stays on the site or not. But if he thinks the Princess only run shouldn't be on the site, he should let Diman know.(if Diman is going to make a new version).

I'm with you dude. I thought almost every submission that obsolete a movie here was going to be published. (Maybe not if its only one or two seconds) but I still think 5 seconds is enough. 1...2...3...4...5... Its seems that I've worked for nothing. But I'm not going to cry out loud or give up. "Never give up"!

Mlandry and Diman, there have been runs who got rejected because they where suboptimal which definitely seems to be case here. Thats why this run will probably be rejected.

Huh? The question is still "Did you like watching this movie?", and not something else. It's up to judges to decide do this site need any Peach-only runs, and currently there is one published. At least don't get so harsh on Diman, he's still learning. On the other hand… Diman, I really don't get it, why couldn't you say a few words about your upcoming run prior to its release, or at least post some WIPs. Guybrush is absolutely right here, but you seem to ignore it all along…

Genisto’s Princess-only run was originally created because I pointed out that in my Super Mario Bros 2 movies, I never used Princess. So Genisto went ahead and created his movie. Which happened to also obsolete my Mario+Luigi+Toad movie back then. Back then, it was novel. Today, there is really no need for that movie like it was back then, and as everyone have already pointed out, it is technically inferior to all other Super Mario Bros 2 movies on this site. However, I see no reason to remove it ― it would set an unpleasant precedent, because after I created the site engine about two years ago, I have never removed a published movie without replacing it with another. In fact, I cannot even do that without destroying all traces that the movie ever existed from the site. I would mark the movie obsoleted (by some other movie) if I had a good enough excuse doing so, but currently I do not have one. (Maybe someone could help this fact to change?) With these circumstances, I am allowing submissions that attempt to improve that movie. However, even if they do beat it, they can not be inferior to other movies of the same game on this site. Therefore, I can not accept this submission.

I say you shouldn't quit it, Diman. I just think you should try it again using even more tricks. If this one saved only five seconds, imagine what using more tricks can save! C'mon, let's see another attempt from you!

I thought I was doing that when I wrote this link. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1000/Diman-smb2%20peach%20only.fcm (I wrote that link on the discussion board for my Splatterhouse-submission maybe it was a bad idea cause it was hard to find the link.)
