so the game is forcing you to lvl up to 13 in order just to fight her? that's pretty lame

Does Bavmorda not take damage from your sword, I thought she did? Because the only reason you NEED to level up is for the extra MP.

Repost Isn't this pathetic?! The game says to be on at least LV 13 (39,340 exp) to get a better shot at defeating Queen Bavmorda in the final battle. Already I'm at Nockmaar Castle whacking monsters with about 27,000 more exp to go. And yes, all of this has to be recorded or there can be no TAS and this game cannot be beat. THERE IS NO WAY TO REVERSE THIS! I might build exp to 31,400 (that should be good enough) and then try to defeat Gen. Kael to barely reach LV 13.
Haha, makes me wonder what would happen if that was hacked out and you could continue freely :D

I think it's worth checking at the very least to see if it's possible to beat the final boss at a lower level. Otherwise you'll spend a lot of time grinding for no real gain.

I can check, but I would need a savestate near the point it tells you to go away. Of course, it'd mostly be just for the hell of it, since, well...

Oooh, I love when games do this. *shudders at the thought of being the person(s) who organized the Crystalis TASes*

Yeah, this game pretty much forces you to be level 13, as you can't even damage Bavmorda without the powered up cane. And even at that level you can't miss a single shot.

is there any way to glitch the game into giving you the cane early?

Uh, so I guess you need to be level 15 to be able to beat Bavmorda....at least according to this faq http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/563478/19123 wow, I remember this game being mean about leveling...but not this bad!

Nah, trust me on this. I been following detail from RPGClassics.com alleging that he has to be on level 13 and have Fin Raziel's magic cane prepared for Bavmorda. http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/nes/willow/area7.shtml - and read the second section. As I went into posting the first draft, I believed it.

Yes, level 13 will allow you to transform Fin Raziel and get a fully powered up cane which is actually quite useful. But you will not have enough MP to dish out enough damage to Bavmorda at that level. You need to be 15 to actually have enough to beat her, and even then you can't miss a single shot.

Runs fine on FCEU 0.98.28 - I don't think the ROM nor the emulator seems bugged to me.

Nice run, I've never seen this game get beat on a normal play through so it should be fun to see how this one goes, definitely will keep an eye on it.

Out of curiosity any reason you're not using fce 2.0x?
