In my opinion, it looks much like what hacks usually tend to look like: toying-arounds by the hacker. It is exemplified by all those wish-to-bes that are not properly implemented, such as the Megamanish robot that rides the giant jumping machines, but does not have a face. It copies lots of graphics and scenes from other games, such as Mega Man 4, Super Mario Bros and Metroid, which is more like a manifestation of hey-I-can-do-this than this-makes-an-interesting-scene-to-play. In my opinion anyway. I must acknowledge the effort doing so ― it is undoubtedly much more than I will do with Rockman Basics. It does look beautiful, too. Tentatively though, I do not accept this hack. (For Nesvideos submission rules.)

I think somebody should make a fcm of this and post it here for us. I want to see it all the levels of this hack but I don't want to play it myself.

I think it's great to hear the Super Mario Bros. 1-1 theme & the Zelda II Dungeon sequence through the Mega Man 2 sound player...:)

If you can't complete the game by yourself Serj, here's a movie of the heat man stage at least. No boss included though. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1088/ (I played through the stage once before so that I would know how it looked, it's probably fastest to start with this stage though, since I can't see any place where an item 2 or item 3 should save an immense amount of time. I don't know about Bubble Man though.)

I've got too much other things to do, and really, I'm not really experienced with Mega Man games, so I'd rather leave that to someone else.

I played this for a few minutes, and I ended up beating about 5 or 6 bosses, but the game is really not very good. Sure, all the levels are completely changed, but there are some weird things I noticed while playing? maybe this is my imagination. But the ladder physics are weird and different. And shots don't travel to the edge of the screen. Bosses are either really easy and have silly patterns or are... well, actually, just the former. But stage enemies are positioned to make cheap kills rather than letting you advance in the stage without memorising it. EDIT: Also, nice job on porting so much music from other games and consoles.. but really some of it could stand to be improved beyond the base there. THere are incorrect melody lines, etc..
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

I haven't heard as many errors in the music as in Rockman Exile, but maybe I should keep playing through to Dr. Wily. And I hate how many times ladders go up to two blocks beneath a ceiling so I'm tempted to hit up+down and enter the twilight zone. Though I really hate when they're just used for ping-pong paths...

Here you go This movie aims for: - Game completion - Not getting hit It doesn't aim for speed... :P, Graveworm's fcm is played far better, but this one completes the entire game...

Cool, thank you Baxter. I never thought I'd see a Zelda 2 level in a Mega Man game. I also never thought about PLAYING the Metroid intro screen. Wow, what I weird idea. I have great respect for a rom hack that actually changes the music. Music changing is something you never see in a rom hack. It's too bad they messed up Kraid's theme.

My only wish is that they would change look of the bosses. For example it would have been awesome to see Bowser, Motherbrain or Samus as a boss. :D Good hack though. Go for a TAS I say.

I'd say that this hack, while it is neat, doesn't really seem professional enough. There are a lot of places where you're just pointlessly walking back and forth, and the glitches in the graphics and music don't help very much. If there are a lot of cool ways to bypass a lot of the boring parts, I'd say that it could be worth doing. I'm kind of on the fence about it.

I'd personally rather see original bosses with original movements and powers, than bosses from other games. Perhaps in a Megaman 3 hack.

Hmmm. Well, while I can appreciate the effort it must take to take music from other games and put it in a hack (especially from SNES, and even PSX (!) games, remixing can't be easy), and the graphics that were put into the game do look really nice, there's not a whole lot to the level design. And it almost feels like the creator intended to make new Robot Masters, but either never got the time, or couldn't sprite original ones (or port sprites from other games effectively) so instead he just settled for swapping the colors and changing the names of the weapons. It's too bad, the hack COULD have been a lot better. The hacker is good with the music and graphics department, but as far as level design and enemy pattern goes there doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason for it. If someone actually made a good TAS of the hack I wouldn't vote no, but it seems that Bisqwit has already decided on it for the moment.

I had a look at this hack and although it looks interesting, there are a few things that seem to detract from the hack: - Badly chosen music right from the beginning. The stage and boss music is good, but the boss defeated music and the first three tunes in the game are rather poor, in my opinion. - Quick Man's stage. Deliberately taking damage was the only way I could practically get through the first part without dying. I also used platform 2 at one point. The rest of the stage and the boss is a breeze. - Wily 1 stage. Did you know you can become trapped in parts of this stage without being able to escape or suicide? One part even forces use of the vertical reset glitch. I played through the 8 robot master stages and most of Wily 1 (without tool-assistance) before Wily 1 made me quit for the day. This hack is quite similar to Rockman Exile, a hack which I beat some time ago. P.S. I used Nesticle (emulator) for playing.

I've only played the Heat Man stage and Air Man stage, it's pretty cool that the Air Man stage resembles the Wily1 stage in Mega Man 3 very much. :) Even though it would be very hard to speed through that stage, maybe scrolling the blue guys off screen to make them disappear would help. It's also possible to avoid half the Air Man stage using item1, but you probably already know this, maybe I should complete this game someday, since it seems to have gotten alot of positive feedback. Also, I havn't played the Quick Man stage, but is it not possible to use the flash stopper to avoid damage? P.S. You are forced to use items in Rockman 2's Wily stages too.
