Yeah, don't worry about it. I was pretty surprised myself after I pulled it off the first time. Initially I'd just planned to play around with bomb jumping because I was bored. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to find another shortcut after watching the next run.

I already found one! The unmorph+morph trick Drew showed in the smv in order to get out of the lava gave me the idea of another new trick, that was thought to be impossible in Redesign because of the too high gravity: The midair-morph-IBJ! After some tests, I indeed managed to perform it! Here a simple example: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2532/midair-IBJ.smv I was sure there could be even more possibilities of this technique, so I decided to try a even more crazy version: The diagonal midair morph IBJ to early Varia - Successful! http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2533/midair-IBJ-Varia.smv Hope you like it. :-)

That's ridiculous stuff Saturn...I never imagined my little trick would actually be useful outside that room! Just makes me anticipate the new stuff even more.

Any% is almost two hours realtime… Are you sure you'd want to watch a 3+ hours run? :)

I'd certainly watch a 100% run, even if it took 5 hours.

About low%, Drew and I were discussing it on IRC, and here's what we've come up with: Morph Ball Bombs 1x 5 Missile pack 2x 10 Missile pack Wall Jump Boots 4x 2 super missile pack 2x Power bomb 4x Energy Tank Varia Suit Gravity Suit Speed Booster Charge Beam Ice Beam So, unless something's missing, final percentage should be 14.19% if I have the math right; still have to wait on Drew to get home to confirm if a couple of items count towards the final percentage... EDIT: Thanks moozooh. EDIT2: Percentage tentatively final based on furthur info from Drewseph.

BTW, why 4x2 super missiles? As far as I remember, the super missile block array in lower Norfair doesn't regenerate if you leave the room, so you could skip 1-2 packs, I guess.

I'm not sure, I just trusted Drew about how many we'd need to be honest... I'll look into it soon.

The Block which triggers the erminent destruction of the supers upon re-entering is the bottom super missile block, you need to shoot out all 8 in one shot in order for them not to come back. Speed booster is SO close to being skipped, as we'd need it to get past 2 obsticles..... I could edit it so those 2 obsticles are removed under certain circumstances >_>

That would be that guardian in crateria and what else?

no, you could ibj to that guardian. the 2 obsicles are: 1- Speedboost blocks to the top right from kraid. if removed one could manage to spend hours ibjing up that ledge and other ledges and eventually make their way to the lower crateria caverns ..... which brings us to.... 2- The spoeedboost blocks just outside the Lower Crateria/Maridia Elevator. using an insane crouch jump/walljump I believe it might be possible to get to draygon.

I can't seem to get the patch to work on my version of the rom, I just get the yellow startup text telling me that its a bad checksum, what rom name/version did you guys use?

The USA/Japan version. But.. which "bad checksum" screen is that?

Be sure to use the right patch. Headerless patch for a headerless rom and a headered patch for a headered rom. I believe you can add or remove a header with NSRT. (Seems to be down at the moment? I'm sure you can get it from somewhere else as well).

http://drewseph.zophar.net/Early_Hi-jump_Attempt.smv.zip yet another possible detour to take in the run..... how much time could this save in the longer run?
