Hello ! Here are Darkside and Riku Replica (again). Link to video So, with the little improvement of Darkside fight (about 100 frames), Riku Replica completely changed his behaviour. And after a lot of tries, here is the fastest way (and the only one possible I found) to defeat him. By "the only one possible", I mean all the other tries couldn't kill him : too much cardbreaks too soon, or Dark Aura too often and so on. I added two cards in the deck : Kingdom Key 0 and Ether 0 (and still the Mega-Ether 4). These two 0 cards made the battle possible : I (not he) could cardbreak and, by doing this, manipulate his patterns easier. The spared time is about 2 seconds. Can you any possible improvisations ? (I want to be sure before killing Larxene)

About riku, yeah, my suggestion before wasn't the best. Riku can be paralyzed. So if you use strike raid to paralyze him, he won't get a turn and you can kill him without worrying about getting attacked. Its cheap, and entertaining. Strike raid + ominslash!

Hi. Cheeze here, recent CoM watcher and longtime KH player. I don't think you can use Strike Raid against Riku because the only way to get it is through level up bonuses, and you would have to spend all the level-ups necessary to get to Strike Raid (you would have to get Sliding Dash, etc.). That would mean less CP, which means less cards, which means more time lost in the long run (reloads). Unless using Strike Raid on Riku saves a LOT of time, it's just not worth it...unless I'm missing something. >_>

Welcome, Cheeze ;) InfamousKnight : Besides the fact that Strike Raid can only be got by leveling up, I'm not sure it would be really faster. I mean : I would have to manipulate Riku to be sure that he doesn't move (because he does a lot of "dashes") or he doesn't cardbreak... So, the problem would stay the same and I don't think it can spare time.

In the last larxene battle, you had to get card broken there too. Maybe it's just inevitable. But then all other riku battles you managed to kill him without card breaks. But his deck was changed so you might as well accept the card breaks.

Finally back home, so I can watch this: Darkside: in the second take you were better about reloading during the wait time so you managed to save time there. I noticed you ran out of berserk damage and were forced to use overdrive for 4 hits at the end, so another minor optimization would be letting those four hits, and the reload you have to do happen at the beginning while you sit around taking damage. It would take clever timing to avoid breaking him, and probably only save like a second, but it might be worth looking into. Riku: I was worried about fights like this considering the value of the cards in your deck, but I don't know the extent to which the AI can be manipulated. That second cut looks really clean, though, and I like it a lot. the worst part of this is the two dark firagas that you have to dodge, but you get a lot of 3 hit omnislashes off quickly, use your items naturally and without wasting time, and avoid dark aura, cardbreaks, or significant trime loss outside of that. Really the decision of whether to spend more time in a moogle room pulling 20+ sum clouds or to burn time in fights like this is pretty academic considering the amount of time in between. Strike raid is a bad idea even if was given to you already, because 1) Riku can be paralyzed but wakes up really quickly 2) Stun impact is just better and has a faster animation 3) the first hit of omnislash breaks the stun anyway so he can cardbreak it just fine 4) 3 hit omnislashes aren't the problem as much as his spamming higher value slights that prevent you from acting can be. I don't know if you've considered berserk on that fight but it might be worth looking into. Playing it like I do except replacing overdrive with berserk might be easier when it comes to gaming the AI. Regardless, you're probably stuck doing that for larx because she spams sleights faster, dodges onmislash better, and attacks quickly, setting herself up for cardbreak combo attacks in retaliation. Also, it's good to see you cheeze42!

Welcome back :D. Yes, indeed. I'll see what I can about Darkside. Riku : His AI is horrible to manipulate (Even Larxene II is easier), so it's possible that by changing Darkside, this battle becomes impossible... Or a piece of cake. I didn't try berzerk for this battle (because it was longer for the other ones), but I'll see if it's faster this time. Thanks for you advices !

The only reason I bring up berserk this time is because he has an extra health bar. Obviously you have to take damage and waste time, but I'm pretty sure that after that, berserk attacks have a higher damage rate than omnislash does, especially taking into account this specific Riku's AI. Who knows, maybe the time save will catch up to the time lost taking dmage this time.

Hello ! Here is Darkside. Link to video So, I applied what you suggested, Ghosthweel, and I improved many other parts (such as not cardbreaking it to be able to hit it more). But, apart from that, this isn't very different but it's way faster. If you see other improvements, say it ;).

Hello ! Here is Riku Replica IV Link to video I must admit that I didn't try Omnislash, but, by a simple mathematics operation, it's clear that Berserk is faster, this time. I need 9 Omnislashes to kill Riku and one lasts around 545 (I say around because there may be lag frames), so it's around 5000 frames (with IA manipulation, if everything goes well). Berserk version lasts less than 3000 frames. Do you see any improvements ?

Hey, I've been following this thread quite a bit and was wondering what the final time of your TAS is looking like right now. I checked the RTA record and it is 2:24:02. It looks like your stuff is really optimal so I was wondering if it's going to be a lot faster than WR. Do you know by any chance or have a rough estimate? :o btw keep up the good work :)

Hey (always wanted to talk with DK :D) ! I would say between 01:30 and 01:40 (RTA time), if my estimations are right (I hope Axel will jump into my attacks... Yes, I want to take my revenge), but TAS time will be longer, of course (damn cutscenes). Thanks ;).

And then Riku is next once you've completed it?

Maybe... I first need to do it again (but by using cheats for map cards... So it's going to be fast), take note of the maps and then establish the route planning (except if anyone wants to do it/help me ^^). So, it may last some time before I start TASing (with Bizhawk, so I also have to learn the few more tools, and seek after the memory adresses). But it's highly probable ;).

Also a great segment. It's hard for me to give out improvements because most of the time lost is dark firaga dead air, and that's AI manipulation, and that's hard. At this point in the game bosses spam high value sleights and if you're not prepared for that yet, maybe it would be best to throw in 3 or so zero attack cards to speed things up when you do get an inevitable one. I guess on Axel you can manipulate fire walls which can be dodge rolled for minimal time loss, and maaaaaybe Blossom showers on Marluxia, but larxene alone will be a problem unless you manipulate 1-2 hit teleport rushes. Long term it might make sense to throw them in, but I don't know, it's a judgement call on your part. Otherwise that is fantastic. As for whether this will be faster than me, absolutely. The card farming alone is insanely manipulated, and the boss fights have that extra touch of perfection. Also, I'll help with Riku routing if you need it, but each boss only has a couple of viable options anyway (to dark mode or not to dark mode? to berserk or not to berserk?)

So, I tried by adding 3 0 cards, actually the only 3 I have : Kingdom Key, Olympia and Crabclaw. I've also deleted all the Fire Cards because they aren't going to be useful anymore. The movie is a bit faster despite the menuing and the AI manipulation to take damage but I didn't need to use 0 card (Riku only used sleights with "low" values). I must admit I wondered when I had to add them, before of after Riku, but I think it's better before. I'll encode this battle along with Larxene.

Hello ! So, here are our two friends. Link to video As I already said, the three 0 cards are Kingdom Key, Olympia and Crabclaw and I didn't need to use them for Riku. For Larxene II : getting a low HP is a bit too long for me but I can't do better (every other possibilities I've fond are slower). But once Berserk is activated, everything is fast. There are a few moments when Sora must wait to attack, otherwise Larxene would cardbreak him (she changes her patterns often). 0 cards are used against her, and Crabclaw 0 is used to finish a combo to maximise damages.

That segment is AWESOME! That kind of pace is exactly what I expect from a TAS. I can confirm that that's the fastest way to take damage on Larx, she doesn't have high power attacks before she hits half health. I like how Riku tied your two item cards so you didn't waste time with the ether, and both fights were really clean

Thanks ! So, it's okay for Larxene. Now, let's go to the thirteenth floor !

Hello ! It was faster to TAS than what I expected, but here is the first part of Castle Oblivion ! Link to video Doors and exploration : nothing to say, always the same thing... Axel : At the beginning, if Sora runs to Axel, he will try to attack him... Otherwise, he would go away. For the rest, it's basic AI manipulation with cardbreaks. He has 1680 HP, so with 5 perfect Blizzard Raids (375 HP each), he's dead. What do you think about this segment ?

Really hard to get that better. If there are improvements, I can't see them. I can't believe it's almost over. Oh, one thing you might want to do. If you're berserking Marluxia 1, then you may need to take an HP upgrade or two on the level up. The fastest way to take the damage is with his yellow card attack, but that may one hit kill you at 80 HP. At 95 you might live at flashing red. You should check this before you change anything though, and figure out the damage plan for Marluxia 2 as well (berserk alone isn't enough, you need overdrive too)

Hello ! The first fight against the Graceful Assassin is over. Link to video The yellow card deals 54 HP, so I don't need to get an HP upgrade, but it isn't enough to get Berserk. For the rest, that looks like the other bosses : cardbreaks (with 0 card or sleight) to manipulate him, anticipating movements and Berserk : 270 HP lost per combo (against 180 HP for a enemy without weakness). I'm going to take a look at Marluxia II and see if I need more HPs.

Don't you like it ? It's a nice little discrete noise, isn't it ? (I've never understood why they put this noise in every game... We can see we're in danger, we don't need a big alarm)
