Very common? I'd certainly never seen it before, and it looks like you have to talk to the girl at exactly the right time to do it. I think it adds more entertainment than giving your characters long names, but it's your choice. (If you would have to redo a lot of things for it then it's probably not worth it.)

I do. I didn't even knew of that glitch and got it by luck in my WIP back then. And I haven't seen this anywhere else aswell.

If you play through the game normally you get it at least a dozen times, at least I did. Weird thing no one knows about it. Could be the fact that the right frame is more likely to be hit in the PAL version though. It occurs everytime when the death animation is about to end when you enter the exit zone/trigger of an area I think. I'll try to hexedit it in but if that doesn't work I won't redo it, since I'm already at Neko in Elinee's castle, and had extreme luck with the werewolves there. Three player control is quite some work, I'd need a keybord that can handle more keypresses at the same time...

Do you think this glitch is likely to show up at some point later on, then? Or is the werewolf battle the only good place for it (in a TAS)?

Don't forget about auto-hold; it gets around all keypress limitations because you don't have to actually press the keys at the same time in order to press the buttons at the same time. You could use that to press all 36 buttons at once if you wanted.

I didn't know about auto-hold, will have to learn how that that works. Enemies that I could try to glitch: - Fishes before/after undine - Goblins at start of earth temple (I don't think I can get around leveling undine) - The spinning creatures in high lands (called Minos in the german version)

I have owned and beaten both Austalian PAL and US NTSC versions of SoM. I remember the exploding corpse glitch on both carts. Moving on to a new area as a monster dies was the easiest way to get this to happen. Starting a conversation at the right time obviously gets it done as well but this happens a lot less frequently cause there are not as many areas with monsters and a person to speak to in the same area. I wish I could remember an exact instance where I got it to happen but I cannot. Seeing it happen to the warewolves reminded me about the whole thing. I think it does look cool but if you have to waste frames waiting for the right time then I would say just move on.

Bump! Spikey Tiger has been giving me a hell. The reasons are many, it seems like the engine swaps to totally different rules for bosses. Anyway, I've got 2 endings of the fight right now. Fight A is 2073 frames long and finishes with the death of one character. Fight B features all three characters staying alive and working together to deal the death blow, but is 96 frames slower. Which one would you prefer if I'd tell you that version B looks much better, since A is just stupid sacrifising a weak character so that the strong one can deal the blow?

Probably B, since since you'll probably just be magic spamming all future bosses, it might be good to make this a no death run.

If he's planning to use the level-up glitch, it can't be called a no death run. But since so far he's been willing to make some tradeoffs for entertainment, I think either option B (iff you were telling the truth that you think version B looks much better than A) or C would be best. (Option C would be redoing the fight and miraculously keeping them alive without losing those 96 frames.)

Hmm...what about posting both WIPs? But in general I'd sacrifice some frames for more entertainment.

Ok, here you go. Fight A Fight B Savestate entering elinee's castle. Redoing... as you posted it I tried out if I couldn't get this one hit into it somewhere, but then my whole crit order collapses. It can be still called a no intentional death run though.

Somehow, both WIPs desync on the way to the first village...that's weird because the older WIPs worked properly I'll try an older again and make a savestate. Hope this will help...

GNAH, yeah of course I forgot it...thanks for your advice... Edit: Really impressive. I'd also prefer fight A. Don't think it's less entertaining. And the character is dead for just some seconds. So who cares? It's faster, it's better (concerning this situation).

A friend of mine just gave me a link of something I've never seen before. Shadow Zero can appear if you cast evil gate over and over again! :D Read more here http://secretofmana.planets.gamespy.com/shadowzero.html There are also some screen shots that looks interesting. :)

These look incredibly fake to me. I mean, just look at the HP of the characters in the 2nd set of screenshots. Their HP is above their MAX HP, which obviously shows that he used cheat codes to get there. Therefore, it's very likely he used cheat codes to make that Shadow Zero spell appear or something.

Spells only maxes out at 8:99. You only get 8 Mana Seeds throughout the game, so you can only get up to 8:99.

Actually, their HPs are right on. It's just like that when they are lv 99. I have a lv 99 save file on my Secret of Mana game - and I got there without cheating (yeah, I was a very determined kid back then).

Actually, I've heard this mentioned a few times. Could be real, perhaps. I've also heard that the number of Shadow Zero's you've accumulated upto its occurrence affects the number showing up on the screen. Andreas
