Theres a weird glitch that Hero and Sprite get insane amount of EXP if you kill the Girl with magic bounced off enemy (with Wall magic), I have found it while back fooling around with Wall magic. I dunno if anyone else found it before. Would that be a good glitch to be used in this speedrun?

That would be an awesome glitch to use. Could you tell us more specificly about this glitch? Can you show us perhaps? Make a small video of it. Still though it won't be that much of a prime target to level the characters. They will deal more damage to enemy though. But it just takes to much time to level up. But with that glitch it might be a good thing?

Sure, when I get home from college. edit - im not exactly sure how it work, but i think its something to do with player exp table. If Hero, Girl, Sprite all the same level, Hero and Sprite would get insane exp. Then once you reach large gap levels between Girl and Hero/Sprite, exp isnt good. I'll make .smv

Sounds great. Are we talking about getting home at X-mas from college or do you have a computer in a dorm somewhere? =)

I'm really looking forward to this. I love this game and I think this would make a extremly good speedrun. If there is really a glitch with that you can gain lots of XP that would be awesome!!! http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/file/secret_of_mana_low_level.txt here, I found a low-level walkthrough guide, maybe someone is interested in it...

Ventuz - "Can't" when it comes to computers is a funny word. You're supposed to be disabled to install stuff on it. But it's always a matter of knowledge. BWAHAHA! The computer admins at three of my past schools always banned my account. But what does it help when you've got every other students logins etc? There are so many holes etc you could get things running. Ah well. Maby we shoulden't talk about that. Think the rules mentioned something about it's illegal to discuss that sort of things in here. So let's just move on with the topic. I guess I'll have to wait for 30 more mins and let you come home to your sweet good'ol computah! :D

Damn that was kewl. Hehe.. Try watching that with the european version of the game (i accidently did that first). I started to wonder when you stood stil for a while and the moogled your self. Haha. Also.. In the eurpean version the characters didn't die. So there must be alot of diffrence between the two.

For those that are not able to find correct ROM version, i have made little movie. Its in wmv extension, kind of bad quality but you can clearly see whats happening and can clearly see texts too. removed - 979kb (best compressed .rar)

That glitch is AWESOME! Imagine how fast one could reach new levels! But, does it work when the sprite is killed as well? Because then you could have the girl revive him so you don’t have to get Cup of wishes all the time.

(in response to Mazzic) If you kill Hero, he give little or none. If you kill Sprite, he give some exp. If you kill Girl, she give insane exp. I might be wrong, but i just know Girl gives better exp, play around on my movie.

I just thought of something. Afaik in FF2 there is also a glitch which gives you insane amount of XP... I dunno anything about it though... (gotta check gamefaqs.com) Fact is that both games had the same programmer (Nasir ?), and the system's are similar coded. So maybe there are other glitches too in FF2 that can be used in some way in SoM ? Does anyone know of some glitches in FF2 that could maybe work some way in SoM ?

I mean the one for NES. The most unique game in the series... With the great (at least in my opinion) SoM-like system.

I haven't played that for more than 5 minutes. Was a japanese rom and I didn't understand any of the text. :)

I think you NEED all mana seeds (except dryad) to get in Empire castle, when you find first Dark Stalker. And btw, I looked thru this thread again, noone is actually doing speedrun on this, makes me sad, lol. But I understand, it takes alot of planning to decide when to abuse exp glitch, when/where to go lev/buy/sell, and focus on time saving. Back to Exp Glitch topic, i think that after getting dryad magic, outside of dryad shrine on dark knight (that cast Wall) is excellent place to start right away using exp glitch.

Does the enemy affect the XP at all BTW? Or is it just the person that the magic repells on? I mean.. If a mushboom gives you that much XP, would a griffin claw give you more?
