I'm going to be working on a run of this relatively hard game. I'll probably have a WIP at the end of the day if things go well. If you have anything to say regarding the game or the run that could possibly help out then please let me know other wise I'll do my best in running this game. So far I'm getting used to the gameplay, again, for all those mini games it has in store. I'm not sure how fast this game can be completed but it shouldn't be anything over 20 minutes. I really don't have any real plans but it's kind of straight forward so nothing should slow the run down or the run's progress. As I've stated, any suggestions are absolutely welcomed.

I tried this game a few times. Never could get very far, hehe. I'm looking forward to the WIP. ;3

I sincerely hope I can get going on this run but for some reason, no matter what movie settings I use it desyncs. I even tried using ZSNES and I still get desyncs. Sculptured Software developed games don't play well in emulation. They have bad sound which is most likely the case of the many desyncs between game titles developed by them. I sure know how to pick them, every run that I've done or have started in SNES emulation is a game developed by them. Edit: No more desyncs, I shall get started on that WIP.

I tried to run this about two weeks ago, and yeah, the desync is ridiculous. It barely even played for half a second. I'm looking forward to this.

Oh, yeah... I forgot about this game. I knew ten years ago how cool it would be to see the tomato game played perfectly. Did it in about 3200 frames. Yee-haw. Best of luck, VANDAL.

Heh, I was just about to post a thread for this game not too long ago. This game was EXTREMELY hard on the SNES, and even on emulators with save states, it was still incredibly hard. The great thing about this game is that there were different kinds of games to play, so it should make for a pretty entertaining movie. I look very much forward to this run. I haven't played it in years, so I probably won't be able to help much. But if I see any mistakes or anything, I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks for the support, here's the WIP. It gets through the tomatoeing and egging mini game pretty quickly, I'm not sure how much faster it can be done. Enjoy, I'll try to get another one done by the end of today but I'm not promising anything.

what settings are you using? I'm using the command line version, so it doesn't automatically choose the correct settings.

Here's another WIP, it completes the Bart as a baby mini game although the last segment is unoptimized and I will go back and complete it the way I see fit. At first this mini game looked alright, promising in the way of moderate interest but it starts to flag about half way through it. I've kind of got some doubts as to whether or not this game will make for an interesting TAS but we'll see on the Workbench when I complete it. Anyway, enjoy.

Wow, this is looking really good so far. I never been that far before, and looking at all this, how in the freakin' world did the makers actually expect people to make it that far, much less beat it!? It is impossible...literally! Matter of fact, this whole game is impossible. Now please continue making a mockery of this game as great as you have been please! :)

Man, this game was HARD. It was one of the few SNES games I could never beat. I've beaten all of the mini-levels except "baby bart" and "dinosaur bart". The pipe level was real easy once you know which pipe to go down, and the Mad Max level, I only beat once through dumb luck. the dinosaur level, I never could make it past the absolute perfection needed to make it through the Ice Age portion. I think there is enough variety and relative shortness in this game to make it entertaining enough for publication granted you do a good enough job (which I don't think will be much of a problem) /Edit: After watching it, and seeing the end to the baby bart portion for the first time, I agree that the last segment is unoptimized. Otherwise, a very solid run. I especially liked how you skipped through that hoop portion in the circus. I honestly think you should alternate between the platforming and non-platforming levels, but that's just me. Can't wait to see the end of Dino Bart

I agree with both of these comments. As I said before, the game is composed of a variety of games, which will keep it from becoming bored. I don't think that'll be a problem at all. Secondly, I also agree that you should alternate between platforming and mini-games. So instead of doing Dino-Bart now, you should do the Biking or Tubing stage. Then Dino-Bart/Pig Bart, then the other mini-game, etc. Other than that, has there been any progress?

Sorry for the lack updates, I hope you understand. Anyway, I'll be continuing this run shortly but my goal is to complete it as fast as possible so whatever mini game comes up is the one that'll be doing. The outcome has changed, it no longer is Dino-Bart, it's now Bart as a Pig. Sorry that I don't agree with your requests but maybe it won't be any worse. Expect a WIP soon. Edit: Change of plans, I'm going to redo a part of Baby Bart since I don't really know what I was thinking at the time. The randomness will probably change the outcome again and might make another mini game show up, we'll see.

Hey, no problem, it was just a minor nit pick anyways. I look forward to your progress

Another WIP but without much progress except I save 40 seconds on the Baby Bart. Next is Pig Bart?! or something like that, I've already begun it and hopefully I can get it done real soon.

40 seconds!? Wow, great improvement. And it was really noticeable too. Keep up the good work. You did that small part of Pig Bart effectively too. Good job!

It seems that that was the wrong WIP but before I decide to replace it with another WIP, the correct WIP, I think I'll finish up the Pig Bart first as it would be a nicer incentive. So far I have save 20 seconds all together when comparing the uploaded WIP and the one I have not uploaded (don't worry, I still saved 40 seconds on Baby Bart it's just that I'm not comparing to the older WIP).

I'll wait until its done.. I have never seen the ending to this rediculously hard game. I remember playing the game for hours just trying to beat the freaking Pig Game, Baby Game, and Dino Game. This is one of the hardest games (I think) existed. However, the Tubing was somewhat hard while the egg throwing was easy. Have fun

I'm going to be unable to work on this for a while as my Hard Drive has died (don't worry, I salvaged the updated movie file) and now I'll probably buy a new one soon, if and when the opportunity arises.

Well, I still don't have a damn hard drive functional but what the hell, here's a WIP. I found the Pig Bart level more boring as it progressed. I took a hell of a time optimizing the area where you have to put the frozen pigs through the furnace and the first pig, no matter what, can not be sent through in one try because the hook it's sent on has an error when comparing it to the other ones. It tries to take the pig through at first but then decides, a little too late, to drop it like it was supposed to and in doing so it costs a little time making it impossible to send the pig through in the first try. Other than that, that part is optimized to the point in which it should be. The rest of the level is kind of annoying, a waiting game if you will (not that the waits are long but still mandatory). After that part the boss fight comes but it's a joke and I believe that is as fast as it gets. You'll see, at the end, that I go off screen from what I unleashed and there's a reason and that reason is to reduce lag from all the pigs on screen. Enjoy, I should be done pretty quickly so maybe there will be only one more WIP after this. Heh, chances are no one is going to watch this :) .

I would definately love to see more of this. Playing this sucker on my genesis way back when led to much frustration and agony... so actually seeing more than the first screen of, for example, baby bart was like looking at porn... or something... ^_^; Anyways, keep up the great work, and here is hoping for a non-emo Harddrive in your near future ;)

Actually, a run was submitted about a month ago and was cancelled due to the entertainment factor being too low and the possibility of improvement. Here's a link to the submission: http://tasvideos.org/1500S.html Hope it satisfies your need for a complete Virtual Bart run.
