Yay, finally beat the game! Had missed one of the keys in the church, thanks a lot Kaz :). Lol, I got 20 hearts + 2 heart pieces... Lame. Timber: No, I haven't posted any clips yet. Just beat the first dungeon in the light world. I'm not sure on which route I shall take yet. I think I have to get a few heart pieces and hear containers in the game. It will be such a pain else... Also, one or two bottles. The route in the parallel world will be a pain as well, I want to do the fastest one which I don't know yet. Have to look through it a bit first I presume. If you want me to post my WIP so far, just tell.

Btw. there is appearently no shovel... I read Euclid saying it at some other forum.
Has he said what the 2 empty inventory spots are? One of them is likely the 4th bottle, but what about the other?

I looked through the topic, and I couldn't find anything about a new item... So I don't know :O.

I'm not sure if that was mentioned, actually. I've read through most pages on Acmlm's forum and one other, but only quickly to find more help in my progress.

I started playing this yesterday in the evening for about 4 hours, got passed where i was supposed to get the boomerang and had to restart tonight. Overall i really like this game because it is so damned challenging. Mobs on average do much more damage than the original game and overall the game is very nonlinear. The only complaint i have thus far is just how short and unimpressive the dungeons have been. the 3 light world dungeons were about 1/4 as long as i had expected them to be, and there was so much backtracking in farore's castle it wasnt even funny. Nevertheless i am having a really fun time playing it. Currently i am stuck in the parallel world wondering how the hell you get to the tower again... I also think a TAS vid for this would be epic, minus the fact that there is a general disapproval rating for hacked vids around here. I have read the reasoning behind that of course, but i think a well done game is a well done game and should be TAS'ed. my 2c. *edit* just finished Darunia's cavern. what a freaking nightmare. picture a maze made out of the square rooms, 50 rooms total, in a 5x10 arrangement. the way you open doors is by pushing block triggers on the floor, each room having a different arrangement or trigger entirely. that is the longest any dungeon has ever taken me.

You shouldn't have restarted because you missed the boomerang. Skipping it is the only way of getting the magic boomerang. Also Darunia's cavern is designed like a classic zelda 1 dungeon. It even has the same music. It's a pain in the ass because there's no maps in this hack.

yeah i kinda got the impression that's what he was after about 2 hours into it. my post sounds kind of whiney but i really did feel a sense of accomplishment once i had mapped the entire thing on some scratch paper and finished it. What is this magic boomerang you speak of? i figured i'd just have to throw that one into some pond to get the red version.

No, you can't throw the boomarang into the pond and get an upgraded one. You can only get it in a chest in the forest, dark world (If I rememeber correctly...). And not if you have gotten the blue one before. I restarted my video, fixed some bad routes:).

I just did a recording through the Parallel Tower (Light World), in case someone get stuck in it. I was using my save file, so some things are already done in the dungeon. It's shows off some nice speedtricks as well ;D. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3501/Parallel%20Tower.smv

I liked the run. question however. whenever you were fighting the tri-worm with the icerod, the first shot you would shoot into the emergence mound, those shots actually make damage? i suspect they do, but just wanted to verify. it was a nice little run tho imo

As long as you see that it makes damage, it does... =P. Two hits on each worm. First dungeon beaten http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3510/Parallel%20Worlds.smv EDIT: I changed my route a bit, so it's now improved. EDIT2: First dungeon beaten.

Whoa. Nice hack although I've only played up to past Guardhouse. Sneaking past guards in few rooms was somewhat challenge but overall it wasn't too hard. The complains about difficulty of Guardhouse is exaggeration (sp?)... And I'm not even an average player. Maybe the difficulty will increase quite a bit, we'll see :o Until now, it's been rather easy.

It's not that it's difficult, there's just too much backtracking.

Yeah, quite a lot backtracking... But I could reduce it a bit in the gatehouse anyway.

Wow, I didn't know there were places you could slide between the spikes and the wall. So many things to comment on already ^-^ So is using that bomb at the end of the first temple faster than walking up and crossing the invisible bridge? It's certainly flashier; I didn't know you could do that either (heh) or kill Armos Knights with the rang. I mostly used the hammer since I missed the rang.
Working on a mod of an old favorite in my spare time. PM for updates!

To be honest, haha, I didn't know about the invis bridge there, haha :D. Think it is faster with a bomb really. I'm not really sure about the route now... But I will S&Q and start at my house and go to take the pegasus boots.

yeah i just checked, if you UD walk up to and LR walk across the bridge, then down, bomb the wall and enter as soon as the xplosion wont hit you, you will save about 66 frames. I was also impressed with the boomerang kill on the armos knights as i failed to try that when i was running through the game. Overall i think the major tweaking so far to this run would come from cutting out sidetracking to get rupies (since you need only 50 to get the scale) and being a little more creative with pathing when you dont have the sword. There were one or two points where you might have been able to optimize going through a door because damage you took on the other side due to a mob being there slowed you down a little. other than that a decent run so far, i'm excited to see what path you take in the overworld to the other dungeons.

Remember that he doesn't intend this to be a serious TAS, it's more like a walkthrough. I'm sure he doesn't care about 66 frames.

I'm trying to do it fast as well, but not TAS like, not at all:). About the rupees... I'm thinking of getting an arrow upgrade, you'll need a lot of arrows on Ganon and I would also like to use them against some armos knights as it is MUCH MUCH faster then using the useless boomerang. I'll upload a wip up to the third dungeon soon. Must do the last path first:). EDIT: Also, if someone makes a TAS of it, then you shall skip the lamp in the beginning and take it after you are done with the gatehouse and church, I think that's the best time to get it anyway. And one thing more about the rupees. I wasn't thinking about how many I really needed through the game... I was thinking of buying a bottle as well, but I don't think I shall bother =P.

The movie file won't work for some reason when I try to play it. It throws in the error message "file is in wrong format". :/ Anyone know how to fix this? There shouldn't be any problems in formats...

Did you try to right-click and save-as that URL from here? The microstorage works a little differently, so you click into it and then there's another download link. (of course I didn't try the file to make sure it worked so that might not be the problem at all, that's just what I immediately thought of)
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

Problem fixed! Many thanks! Yeah, I did right-click and save it using that way.. I have never used microstorage before so didn't know you have to click it once to find the actual download link. Thanks again!

didnt know you werent going for hardcore TAS guidlines, but for fast money have you considered manipulating the treasure games you stumble across in the game? the first one caps out at 100 rupees per chest i believe and costs 30 rupees to play. not realistic for walkthru purposes, but good for the goals of the video, getting through the game quickly. anyone can farm rupees on their own time you know.

The one at the docks (I think), can give 300 a chest.
