bump for new wip, this one does 4 stages though i'm wondering if the 4th one could be optimized a bit, also you'll notice that sometimes i make seemingly inefficient moves; this is because of an odd glitch (still haven't figured out its mysteries yet) that seems to randomly decide "hey man, screw you and your frame-perfect timing, you're not grabbing that peg there so get used to it buddy" http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4418/CluCluLand.fcm

a new wip is once again upon us (or upon me apparently, you slackers), this time with stage 5, the bonus stage and some optimizations in stage 4: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4460/CluCluLand.fcm also i'd like to ask the wise ones of tasvideos: 1) should i play the bonus stage every run (so as to get a proper score tally) or only once? 2) after a run, should i reset as soon as possible after the last bar is found, as soon as the flashing on the borders stops, after the score tally, or some other point?

You already asked these questions, and got answers, but since you asked them at IRC and at forums, yet got answers only at IRC and you didn't post it at the forums, I'll repeat it here. 1) At most once I think. 2) As soon as the screen starts scrolling I think. This gives the least chance of confusion about possible premature reset, and it is a consistent moment.

Is this game a good idea to timeattack? I think if i will make this movie,I can use two players to finish this run. Finishing all of the different pictures in short time.
Do the work.

Did you know there is already a 2 player clu clu land submission? This movie was rejected though, so if you really want to do this, you need to think twice, and probably make sure it's a significant improvement. Either way, I like the game :)

There is also a topic about it, with the exact same name. I heard using search is good for your health. [EDIT: Which I merged the thread into. --Bisqwit]

Oh,it's really wonderful. There are many different ways to finish the route, but the shortest route should be very hard. It's so difficult, but I'd like to see this movie. I have tried it,but failed. It could be a big project to make a plan to finish every stages.

Yeah, it does seem it woud take a while to plan out routes for every stage that is as short as possible, but pdk has probably done this for most stages by now anyway :P.

Seems like a task for a bot :P I think it could be optimised to test every movement, and verify which route is faster. Might be easy to optimise it to not test every route but only those that might be the fastest.

I made a quick 2P TAS of the first two levels. It's quite fast but even better optimization wouldn't surprise me. Also, although the route looks silly, you can't do certain turns sometimes, while other times you get a 1 Frame window to make them. I didn't look too deeply into the mechanics, but basically, it makes zigzagging somewhat impossible. You can check it out here.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure zigzagging is possible.

I mostly did this for fun, but I didn't know there was a 2P version, thanks. I couldn't seem to get zigzagging to work at certain places (while others worked fine), so I must be doing something weird then.

Well, I just watched the TAS and my first two levels are almost 100 frames faster. =D As I said though, I did this for fun and don't really intend to finish it. If anyone wants my input file though, just ask. EDIT: Sorry for double-posting, but the previous message glitched out and didn't think it was going to appear.
