Okay so I finally decided to stop hogging funguy10's Second Reality Project 2 thread and create a new one for this hack because it really deserves to be more widely known. You can get the hack here. I don't know if there are screenshots of the hack anywhere, it doesn't seem like the hack is very well known. For those of you who haven't been following the TSRP2 thread, Super Challenge World is an amazing hack that I stumbled upon recently. It of course has a completely new world map and completely new levels. Personally I hold it in even higher regard than SDW:TLC, although I think I might be in the minority here. There are some new graphics and grabbable items in the game but no new changebox items like in SDW. What makes this hack so special is that some of the levels are elaborate puzzles that require knowledge of the SMW physics and a lot of thinking. For example to find all exits you have to know how to pick up two items at once and how to fly normally with the cape while holding an item. The hack has over 100 exits, most of which are hidden in a way that doesn't require absurd testing but rather intense thinking. The hack isn't completely free of bugs. I ran into one bug in the overworld where a pipe takes you in the middle of the forest even though you should be standing on a level. It's a minor bug that doesn't in any way prevent you from playing the game fully. On a side note, if anyone knows the secret exits of Frosty Cave 5 and Whomp's Fort 3, please feel free to give a hint or two. A hint about how to get to Dino Island 1 would also be nice. Have fun playing!

But TSRP2 has puzzles for the secret exits and has new graphics. THIS ONE DOES NOT!

They both have puzzles for the secret exits. I don't see what your point about new graphics has to do with the quality of a hack.

Did your Uncle design Second Reality or something? Holy moly, give it a rest.

Yay, my friend designed this hack. I'm glad to see it's getting a following. I can't remember the solutions to any of the levels you mentioned, but I'll be sure to send him here next time I see him.

Hi, I'm the creator of Super Challenge World. I hear people are having trouble with the secret exits to Frosty Cave 5 and Whomp's Fort 3. Here are some hints: Frosty Cave 5: Try looking in the area with the rising and falling lava. 2nd layer stuff is fun! Whomp's Fort 3: Go into the pipe on the side of the tower that leads to the room with a run-up-the-wall-triangle-thingy. Think very, very carefully about the paradox in this room. Dino Island 1 can be accessed by completing Fort House. This house makes use of a seemingly useless property. Thanks for playing my hack!

Thanks for the hints. I've completed the Fort House and it takes me to Dino Valley alright. The thing is, it takes me to Dino Valley 2, not 1. From DV2 (which is a yellow level) I get to the Valley House. A new yellow dot did appear over DV2 but there's no way to get to it. There's also a dark green spot for a new level above DV2 but I can't get there either. I have gotten the exits from DV2, Valley House and Valley Fortress (two exits in the fort). Screenshot. EDIT: There is no lava in Frosty Cave 5, maybe you mistook that for another level? EDIT2: No, wait, yes there is. I'm a moron, sorry. EDIT3: Found them both, thanks. FC5 was just evil, but I can't believe I missed the pipes in WF3. I think I've found all exits now, although it's hard to tell because the starting screen still shows only *96, which is a real shame. Still a brilliant hack!

Because it makes the hack interesting. I did not like the SMB Air run because the hack had no new graphics.

New graphics make screenshots of the game look interesting. They don't make it fun to play. For example, the Green Hill Zone screenshots look really cool! Then I played them, and found them to be very bland. I'm still waiting for a SMW hack with decent music.

Dear funguy10, we all respect your opinion that a hack is not good if it does not have new graphics. Now please respect ours (well at least mine), which is that new graphics are not the most important thing in a hack. JXQ is right, too, in saying that while some of the graphics do look cool, the levels might not be that fun to play.

Then prove it. make a test run of the first two worlds because they are where the new graphics start and then I'll talk.

The SCREENSHOTS of the game are to SHOWCASE the game to the public. The better the graphics look, The more popular the game will be. That's why Super Challenge World hack is not widely known but the TSRP2 thread at ACMLM's is rated "HOT" (meaning it's popular). And a hack won't be out with new music until they find some way to rip the tunes from New Super Mario Bros.

If I recall correctly, the first TSRP was never widely known, and it had BRAND NEW sprites. So there goes that theory. also flamebait

You can't force people to change their opinion whether they like or dislike the game. So why even bother posting, funguy10?

I don't see what the point is of replacing a Mario game with another Mario game's music. Why not replace it with some good music instead, like Mega Man or Castlevania or F-Zero or Chrono Trigger or Starfox or Blaster Master or Ninja Gaiden or Street Fighter 2 or Kirby or Zanac or Sonic or Killer Instinct or Donkey Kong Country or Final Fight or Double Dragon or Journey to Silius? Maybe I've been TASing Super Mario World too much, and that's why I'm so sick of Mario music.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing an original song or two stuffed in there, if someone can find the right program. >_>

Just ask TSRP2's creator FPI. He'll tell you it's downloading like hot cakes. And for the 1st one, new sprites:yes, new graphics:no. That's why it wasn't very popular:NO NEW GRAPHICS as I explained before.

funguy10, we get it already. You've stated your opinions in the Second Reality AND SCW threads. There's no need to harp on about it. We made a topic about SCW so we wouldn't infect your beloved Second Reality thread.

It doesn't matter; it's just a game. If people find more pleasure out of playing Super Challenge World compared to TSRP2, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't keep pushing it, though, or you might push it to the point of harassment.
