I'm not sure about the fate of Super Mario World:The Second Reality Project 2 being able to be TASed here, so I thought I'd introduce this NES hack and its sequel
Dragoon X Omega:
Hack of:Dragon Warrior
Dragoon X Omega II:
Hack of:Final Fantasy
Theese 2 hacks completely overhaul everything. The graphics, music, and storylines of the origional games are completely changed leaving only the game's engines intact. Maybe theese hacks will gain a larger fan base here than TSRP2. You can find out about them at the official site here:
http://dxo.panicus.org/
When I visit the site, Firefox complains about an expired security certificate and then I come to a page titled "Welcome Site/User Administrator".
I assume this was not the intended effect.
Same happened to me.
I heard of the original Dragoon Omega whatsit hack years ago. It seemed pretty decent, though I never progressed in it. It did what it claimed to do, though, aside from some bits of the interface it really didn't feel like a Dragon Warrior game at all.
Never heard of the sequel though, should be neat. If we can get the site working.
Ok... What? Why did you just announce a broken page, then make another redundant page and announce it but say that the original one is offical? Which one is it? Pick one and delete the other or make it just a redirector.
In any case good job on the games! Thanks.
Dragoon X Omega II is pretty impressive. Aside from some sound effects it barely feels like Final Fantasy at all. Some of the BGM is kind of painful to listen to, but it's rare to see a hack that goes THAT far.
I dunno if it's TAS-worthy. I'd say it's at least worth an attempt. Since no one's familiar with the game, and so much of it has been rewritten I'd say a lot of the tricks and strategies used in the current FF run aren't applicable.
1st of all, Of course I Didn't make the hacks!
2nd of all, I think they are TAS worthy because the 2 games completely overhual Dragon Warrior for the 1st hack and Final Fantsy for the 2nd hack so the rules in the official games would not apply>
Actually, up until about the 25th or thereabouts, the (original) site was online. After that point, payment for the hosting ran out, but a few days ago a fellow romhacker picked up the bill, so to speak, and now administrates panicus along with the original admin (also one of the people who made the second hack, along with the first).
Said original admin set up a small mirror of sorts on googlepages for his stuff prior to that happening.
So yeah. Both could be said to be official.
No, the question is why haven't *YOU* TASed any of the games you're wanting everyone to do?
Get off your lazy ass and do it yourself.

started playing the FF hack today, it's pretty impressive indeed, and as stated above, the BGM is pretty painful and repetitive. Going to play through it over the next week and see if it's worth doing
What would Mr Belvedere do? Probably eat some butter.
