Those are all equally terrible, but cumulatively atrocious.

Everyone seen this? It's an Australian reporter who's testing American citizens on their knowledge of the world. Incredibly funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oTRmOBSLSU
Rick Mercer's "Talking to Americans", a famous Canadian comic (my hero) goes to the US and gets Americans to sign petitions about Canadian "world issues" which don't exist, such as the legalization of insulin and the conversion to a 24-hour clock from a 20-hour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLXRVvA6T9k

I sincerely hope none of you take those anti-American videos seriously. These videos aren't even remotely funny. I see so many foolish assholes who rip on the United States for no good reason. It isn't like it would be difficult for someone to go to any country and find less educated people to interview, why is it always America?. I am not saying that anyone here bashes America, but people on youtube seem to do it frequently and I find it kind of insulting.

Inferiority complex.
An inferiority complex, in the fields of psychology and psychoanalysis, is a feeling that one is inferior to others in some way. Such feelings can arise from an imagined or actual inferiority in the afflicted person. It is often subconscious, and is thought to drive afflicted individuals to overcompensate, resulting either in spectacular achievement or extreme antisocial behavior, or both.

You are saying that many non-US citizens feel inferior to the United States, so they harness their aggression on internet chatrooms/forums? I too suspected that, but I hate to think that there are people in the world who are so jealous of a single country that they spend all their free time bashing on it.

Note the "subconscious" part of the wikipedia article. I'm not saying that everyone who bashes on USA feel inferior to the USA. I'm just saying that "haters", generally speaking, feel inferior to something/someone else and therefore finds and easy target to bash on, to channel their negative energy on. So even if they don't feel inferior to the USA, but let's say he's being bullied at school, he finds an easy target, in this case the USA, and bashes on it. Why? Because he can and the Internet is anonymous and he feels good bashing on others. That's my theory, anyway. Let's all hug a hater.

You're completely missing the point of the video. This video is not meant to show Americans' stupidity, but rather their uncanny ability to speak forever about a subject they know nothing about or don't know is fictitious. Nor is it meant as a harsh thrashing against Americans, but more like a gentle nudge saying, "Hey, Yankee. Wake up and smell the burning British Columbia forest fires." As Canadians, we like to make fun of Americans in a, shall we say, more classy fashion. Stupid Americans are not toys for our petty amusement, rather they are a stark reminder that, while the vast majority of Americans are well-educated, there's always the occasional oddball to mess things up. They are the ones we like to tease, not the average intelligent American like HOTD here.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't trying to imply that you were ripping on Americans, you are a good guy. I apologize if you thought I was making my statement towards you. I know many people do it only in a joking manner. Unfortunately there are many people who truly believe that American citizens are somehow less intelligent than the bulk of the world, which is a very unpleasant stereotype. The videos do tend to give the impression that all Americans are morons. I mean really isn't the title of that video just a tad derogatory, "Canadians Laughing At Stupid Americans". Followed by users comments such as "all americans are idiots" or "america sucks". I am an American and I have never felt the need to put down another country.

*accepts apology* To defend the youtube user, however, the show is actually called "Talking to Americans". And even that was parodied on the CBC (who is heavy on self-depracation) in a skit called "Talking to Afghans".

hotd> ... anti-American videos ... They are anti-american because they make fun of americans? Hm. I don't so. I also think it is remotely funny. People from anywhere will say stupid (and funny) things if you shove a microphone and tv camera in their face, but United Statesians are in fact poor at geography. See for example National Geographic's surveys, where fewer USians can locate USA on a map than can people in Canada, France, Japan, Mexico and Sweden. (Along with other scary results.) The reason why people bash the US for no good reason (which I agree happens a lot), is partly that the US is very active in world politics, and for that reason steps on many toes, and partly for the reason mentioned earlier, because of jealousy. That's my view at least. That many USians are very patriotic and start the tired "but we saved your asses in WW2!" every time someone criticizes the military actions of the US probably doesn't help either. Speaking of country stereotypes, and keeping on-topic, those Japanese sure are crazy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj0Ma2CsHME

I agree that many americans are stupid, but I dispise the implication that it would be any different in any other country.

Wrong. The electoral college elects presidents, which is the sole reason Bush came to power in 2000. (he lost the popular vote)

The electoral college seems to have the intelligence of most low-class college students.

FFS, drop it already. That is not how the electoral college works, and everyone here knows it.

Not Youtube, but… http://www.noob.us/humor/japanese-human-art-why-is-my-girlfriend-mad/ Seen the "Matrix ping pong" live action movie with "invisible" behind-the-scenes actors dressed in black? This has the same idea, and is quite funny and impressive. Although it needs no translation, here it goes anyway... "Narration: The reason my girlfriend is angry..." "What are you doing??" "Why are you so angry…?" "Because, you…!" This one is quite creative as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq1KkKlI4Q0
