Link to video Here is Buster Rod.G Sorry if it's a little half-assed but I wanted to get some progress on this game. Here are some notes: -I used a game genie code to access the Wily tower(ATNA-CAFG) -Hitting an enemy while on Rush Jet increases your speed -Making a short hop after you slide is faster than waiting 3-4 frames after sliding.

Your decision to use Hard Knuckle in the second stage seems odd to me, since every time you shoot, Megaman stops for a fairly lengthy period of time. Wouldn't a different weapon (Metal Blade or Quick Boomerang, say) work just as well to clear enemies out of the way without requiring you to stop?

Improvements Link to video (Lovin' this new embedding feature.) The First enemy I used the Knuckle on (the one from MM2) takes so many damn shots to kill. The MM1 enemies are taken down with one Mega Buster Shot so I could have used a different weapon. I decided to take damage from it, pause-switch, then use metal blades until necessary. The Weapon Choices at the moment are: Rush Jet Magnet Beam Metal Blade Crash Bomb Fire Storm Hard Knuckle Quick Boomerang Ice Slasher Hyper Bomb Bubble Lead Elec Beam (One weapon will be dropped) I will select all 10 at the beginning.

Is Hyper Bomb really the best weapon to use to defeat the second boss there? It has a really long delay between shots; if you had a weapon that fired "normally" (i.e. like most weapons do) and did even half the damage the bomb does, I bet it'd compare favorably. Also, you got a few health pickups from enemies that wasted time. Otherwise, I thought that looked pretty good! It's definitely interesting to see levels with enemies from all three games.

I just tested every possible weapon that can damage him. My best bet was Fire Storm. It does 3 damage as opposed to every other one (except H.Bomb which does 4) that does 2 or 1 damage.

The powerup dropping system is fucked in the wily wars. It is always the same.

This is a rough cut of the Wily tower. 14:34 I will now start working on all 4 games and improve mistakes made in previous runs. Enjoy! Link to video

What's the status of the full Wily Wars TAS? Ever since I heard of the game I've been wishing for a full TAS, and then I found this thread. But there hasn't been any update since February. I haven't seen all the WIPs, as I would rather wait for the full run, but I'm wondering if the full run will ever be completed.

This is the first time I'm actually checking out this topic, and thus one of your WIPs kchrules. I was just about to point out some mistakes I noticed while comparing it with one of the unpublished submissions. But you already mentioned you are going to redo it anyway. I will be looking forward to more WIPs. Here is what I found while watching your latest Megaman2 WIP. 0:34 ~ Can clouds spawn earlier if Megaman jumps to the right at the correct times? 1:26 ~ Why is there a missed shot? 13:31 ~ Can't you jump a bit later so you can use the falling speed to your advantage? 16:03 ~ Doesn't this version of the game zip you when you are inside a wall? You can abuse the screen transition in this spot.

Before I found this thread I decided I'd be interested in trying to TAS for the very first time. Here is my TAS ( very bad, but very good for a newbie, LOL! Is there an award for first time TASer? =D ) just doing Rockman 3: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8817193/Shiden_Rockman3JP.gmv The rom I used is titled "Rockman Mega World (Japan) (Alt).md" and the emulator was Gens-RR v11a (SVN 301). Please, any opinions and tips would be greatly appreciated. Before it is said, yes I did make a ton of mistakes and wasn't very persistent in some of the techniques I was doing, but what do you expect from a new guy like me? Hehe, this is a WIP of course, will be working on it on and off. Takes its toll on my fingers, but the end result was very awesome to watch. Recorded my "prototype" run I guess you could call it for the lazy / non-Sega people, with XSplit, which is why it looks like crap. YouTube can't deal with stuff that is already encoded, fook dem! With the new "Vault" that has been added, I think the Wily Tower might fall under that category if submitted. I think I'm going to start on this again since the Tower can be beaten under 15 minutes. I recently watched Frenom's run from '05 and found some cool tricks and read the submission comments. It seemed like a good number of people liked it, but it started from a save state and the PAL version was used which makes it slower. I've been using the (E) version with this patch to fix the SRAM issue and run it normally under the USA NTSC 60 hz. However, heard from this page: page 2 of Wily Tower Submission that there is a "Rockman Megaworld [a1] (J)" ROM that has the saving intact and would run at 60hz speed. Should I use the patch or the latter? Additionally, would this run have a chance at being accepted into the Vault?

nice, but will you do all 3 games again or just wily tower?i think wily tower only run would be short and entertaining
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Most likely the Wily Tower only since 3 Mega Man Games in a row without most of the time saving glitches of their NES counterparts would amount to almost an hour + of 3 games that while may have had a lot of effort put into, are games that have been done and seen before. The wily tower is a nice 10-15 minute game that showcases weapons and gadgets from MM 1-3 and some new music, it would be a nice alternative. I will have to use game genie codes to access it though.

Couldn't you just start from an existing save? You'd have to supply the movie that makes the save as well as the main run, but that's no big deal because it doesn't have to be optimized.

Somewhere on my computer I have a semi-TAS playthrough of Rockman Mega World using the (J) [a1] version that completes it up to at least Wily Tower. If I can find it I'd be more than willing to "donate" my .gmv to generate the necessary save file. EDIT: Found it. If you end up using it to generate your save file for a TAS you intend to submit, just throw in an attribution somewhere in the submission text. Link to 2-hour long run leading up to Wily Tower

Damn, how'd I not even think of that? Yes that would be a hassle free alternative thanks for reminding me, and thanks for the movie heldtogetherwithtape.

Thanks once again for the movie file, but it's faster to play on file 3, and scroll to "quit" than save on file 1, so I made my own movie file of all 3 games but used file 3. Also here's the new WIP: Link to video (I went to Hyper Storm H after Mega Rod for fun, you don't have to complete them in a certain order)
