I haven't seen any word on this game on this site, yet I thought it would be perfect to TAS. The superscope should be very easy to operate, as it just requires the clicking of the mouse. I know that rail games don't tend to go far in the entertainment area, but there should be plenty that one could do to pass the time. Some of the things I was thinking was shooting before the enemies appear on screen, to never let the viewer see a baddie, or the complete opposite: waiting till the last frame possible to fire at one, then take all the others out within a few frames. 100% kills should be no problem, as even at 30 Hz, you can fire each shot on the opposite sides of the screen. Writing messages in balls shouldn't be hard either, nor drawing faces on bosses during the animations before/after. Unless there's something I haven't thought of, to me there's no reason shouldn't be TAS'ed. What do you think?

Snes9x 1.502 can record it, but beware it's sort of a pre-release version that's buggy all-around and missing features where the superscope is concerned. There's no official/accepted release with peripheral recording yet. Yoshi's Safari was of course the first Super Scope game I tested, and I think it could make a great TAS. Important hints: - It's not entirely a rail game. Using player 2 gives you limited control of Yoshi, which can be used to save time. - You can completely avoid waiting for the gun to cool down simply by not using the autofire switch on the gun. Manually firing lets you shoot faster and doesn't heat it up. - It might be possible to save time with damage boosting. - At least one boss glitches out and skips time-wasting sequences if you keep firing faster than normally possible. - The game has a hard mode accessible from the start (LRXYStart at title screen), which is good. - Getting 100% kills (that are on whatever path you take) is not overly easy, which is also good. There's not as much down-time as you'd think. I think the close-as-possible approach looks best (unless it lags), but sometimes you have no choice.

I've been watching TAS videos for a long time, but I've decided to start getting into actually doing them myself. As a first project, I want to do Yoshi's Safari. I created a demo movie of Stage 1 as a "proof of concept" (SNES9X records the Super Scope correctly, etc). My only concerns are the entertainment value and other technical issues associated with it. Any thoughts?

I think rail light gun style shooters aren't suitable for TASing. I mean, it'll surely look like a pro playing the game. A TAS is about playing better than the best human ever. I think you should consider another game. I'm afraid it would be rejected.

I agree in somes point with mister epic, the game doesnt show much about terms of control adversity... and there isnt much moves to show in a super scope, thats also my guess why most people dont show interests in superscope games...
My main objective here is to TAS the most obscure games titles!

I'd love to do a Super Scope game still. Maybe I can find a game that provides more control beyond a rail shooter like Yoshi's Safari.

Well, there is Battle Clash and his sequel Metal Combat- Falcons Revenge(which I'm working on right now), thoses games require precise and calculated shots to kill the enemy in the fastest time possible, both are good options to TAS... there is another super scope game too I remember i plaied it a bit, its about a japanese/chinese ninja going throught a battlefield doomed, he can throw shurikens and use a kunai as weapon to close target and also to parry enemy shurikens, but I dont remember the name, he can be controled by D-Pad and can be configured to Super-Scope too. Another game I know that Super scope works is Tin Star, however there is already a rejected run but the autor aimed for highest score, which made him stop various times during the process, doing it kinda straight forward is good but need also planning to entertain the viewers because the game may be a bit boring!
