What about adding a comment section on the published movie page which doesn't require registering? just like blogs have... It could encourage people to give their feedback on movies. We must admit that only the TAS enthusiast is willing to go on the forum and create an account just to make a comment.
These comments can help identify what people find more entertaining, but it can also help on the discussion of movie improvement ("Hey, why didn't you jump and find the secret powerup block at section 1-2? that would be faster"). We may be losing information by not allowing the casual viewers to say something.
But, I also wonder that this creates extra technical difficulties for a website with so many published movies, and that it would require some sort of spam/troll control...

The simpliest way I see is making comments from unregistered users moderated. But who will volunteer?

If there are comment pages for movies, separate from the forums, it is a fact that some people will post there FAQ questions, demanding discussion that mirrors the forums, and that there will be spam, etc. Regulars would also need to read them.

How many times have we seen someone introducing themselves and mentioning that have been frequently visiting the site for years? several.. A simple and easy way to say something could produce interesting results.

you're right that it's a bad thing to discuss the same thing on two places. the only way to implement this then would be move all post-publishing comments about the movie to this comment section. but that sounds like a major change.

I have a feeling it would turn into the comments page on Youtube, ie. inane trash comments that do nothing but drive me crazy and become even more convinced that the world is 90% moron.
Would there be a way to create a tool that allows anonymous comments that's connected to the movie pages, but then the comments ended up posted here? There's still the "anonymous = spammers" thing where they'd need moderation I think, and if you actually want to integrate those people into the forum by allowing anonymous posters you'd want their messages to show up instantaneously instead of on an x-hour delay...
All in all, I think the problem can be solved by saying something like "comment on this video?" with a link to the video thread, and have a message for logged out / anony users at the top of the forum that to post they need to register, which takes <5 minutes. They still won't post, but it has the illusion of taking feedback from anony users right?

What about then a "send a message to the author" option? this could be turned on or off by the author (allow or not allow), and it would send a message to the private message box on the forum.
All it would ask is for an e-mail "so the author can contact you back if needed".

I really like this idea. It would be very interesting to get feedback, suggestions and general comments about the runs from casual viewers and not just, as FODA put it, TAS enthusiasts.

Why? YouTube comments are stupid because of arguing. This would be a one-way system so there could be no arguing.
Okay, assuming such a system is implemented, how exactly would it work? I assume that the messaging would be open to everyone whether or not they're members on the forums (otherwise this system would be redundant, and pms could just be sent or a person could write a comment on the submission thread). Since membership wouldn't be a requirement, I would assume that anyone would be able to write a message under any psuedonym they like. IMO, allowing people this sort of anonymity will only lead to people trolling authors.

Didn't you read FODA's suggestion at all? The messaging would NOT be open to everyone, the messages would be sent as PMs. People could just click on "send a message to the author" and write the author of the movie comments or suggestions without having to register anywhere. The point is that it would be as easy as possible so that as many people as possible would give feedback on the runs to the authors. I can't imagine this kind of concept leading to any harrassing or trolling, because what fun is trolling when you don't get a response?

exactly. not only you're not bound to get a response, nobody will see your "ultra funny" trolling, so that's a great discouraging feature.

That would take a bit of effort to implement, and it would destroy the whole point of having it in the first place. People wouldn't even bother using it if they know that there comments might be not get through to the main author however constructive/unconstructive.

If there's no registration required, how is it not open to everyone?
If people are already registered on the forum, they can simply send the author a pm, they don't need a special button that does it for them.

No one has said anything against my idea (Which was to have NesVideoAgent post the Comment on IRC and have an approve/disapprove option). There's ALWAYS a few people on IRC, and it's pretty easy (Definitely worth the new tricks we'll get from anonymous users!)

I said, definitely worth the new tricks we'll get! I think if everyone who was vaguely compelled to comment, but not enough to register, posted, we'd have much better runs.
