I was wondering if you care if I encode movie I found on this forum and I provide the link to the movie ? I think most people would like to watch it in a movie file more than on the emulator itself. It would be nice for those who read the forum, but don't want to have every emulator.

The movies of the published runs are already downloadable on the site via bit torrent... The only use of such a doing would be to put it on a server with direct download feature for those who cannot download torrent files... However you can simply download the movie via BT and put it on DDL...

Well it's more the trick and testrun more than the video of the published run. I've done that on Super Metroid Impossible, I encoded the run of squ4ll- and now it's used as a walkthrought. What I want to do is publish the smv that you are posting on this forums, and upload them to google video so that every one that comes on the forums, but don't have the emulator set up, or have the rom, could watch the video somewhere.

Oopps sorry I misunderstood you... Well that's not a bad idea however it depends of the kind of movie... What I mean is that if it's a glitch movie it's a lot better to have the smv (or whatever emulator file) to understand what happens... For movies that show different routes or which point out the shortest route that could be a good idea...

Wouldn't it be best to have the two ?

It depends... I prefer to have the vbm file for a glitch movie... as it's near impossible to mimic them with only a video... maybe others do not agree with me though...

Well it's more for viewer audience more than player audience, because a player would have the emulator setup, but those who are reading this away from home, or that don't bother using emulator.

I agree with ZeXr0,I don't care that you encode my smv file to google or youtube.

With that point of view I agree with you... you should have pointed that out before :P

In fact I was wondering If I could just simply do a run of pure speed with Rockman withou collecting the CDs... The afct is that it would be easier to use the glitches and could be a lot more impressive... Yep, while collecting the CDs, the order of the bosses you have to beat prevent the use of the glitches (moreover while using the glitches in the bosses level you skip most of the time large parts of the level preventing you from collecting the CDs)... So I guess I shall go for pure speed using Rockman...

It's not easy to design the route if you want to collect the CDs.I suggest you do a run of Rockman without collecting the CDs if you are unfamiliar with the game. At least I prefer seeing a run of Rockman to Forte.

I'm quite familiar with the game that's not the pb... In fact the problem is that I intend to include the glitches you found in my run and they allow you to skip a large part of the levels which is not compatible with collecting all the CDs... That's why I'm going to go for pure speed... Still I need to plan a route and I intend to begin by killing Coldman, then Groundman, Tenguman, Astroman, Dynamoman, and the rest of the bosses... If you can help me with planning... I'd be realy glad

Bablo and I are currently working on this game on two different TAS. He's using Forte (and maybe megaman) and I'm doing a pure speedrun with Rockman... I'm currently having exams so it's not progressing quickly though I'm trying to do some tests about the glitches to see which boss order I'm going to go for...

But wouldn't pure speedrun be faster with Forte? Dash-Jumps and Double Jumps give him huge advantage against Rockman. Yes, I know Forte requires much more time in the first boss but overall I think he would still be faster.
Which run should I encode next? :)

Yeah, I'm working on a run with Forte, which hasn't progressed far past few weeks but I'll have time to work on it soon.

Of course Forte is faster. But a speedrun as Rockman is also wanted.

I hope it is... I prefer Rockman... Though seeing Forte's run is fun too... I guess both characters make interesting speedruns to watch

I think the current setup is the best one: a pure speedrun with Forte (because he is faster) and a 100CD run with Rockman (because currently he is the only one who can actually do that). Though I don't have anything against a Rockman speedrun, but does TASvideos really need three movies of one game?

I believe we had 4 runs of Battletoads at one point. 1p-warps 1p-warpless 2p-warps 2p-warpless

Intro stage of Rockman & Forte done: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/654558698/Rockman%20%26%20Forte%20%28J%29%20FractalFusion.smv 123 frames (~2 seconds) faster than published run. It is best to stay close to the ground. Although Forte has a slow dash startup, he goes 3.5 pixels per frame on the ground, but only 3 pixels per frame in the air. Against the slime devil boss, you can do 5 damage (instead of 4) every time you blow its outer casing open. I considered which Robot Master to start with. Groundman and Astroman take 13.5 seconds less to defeat than Coldman (because of Coldman's 2s invincibility instead of the normal 1.5s). However, starting with Groundman has some problems, even though you get Tengu Blade early. Starting with Astroman also has its problems (third boss is Coldman and Lightning Bolt only does 18 damage before running out). I'm considering Coldman, followed by boss order, just like in the published run. After the third boss, I will buy Counter. I do not know yet whether I will buy Energy Saver (or whatever it's called).
