I just wondering whats the best way to connect a Wii to the internet, since I'm weighing up all the options and each one seems to have a considerable disadvantage. I'd go for the LAN adapter since wireless is slow and prone to connection breaks.

I'm not entirely sure what that Wifi max thing is. For myself and my Wii, I already had a wireless router. I simply entered my routers details and I was immediately on teh internetz. If the wifimax is simply a USB WLAN receiver with an IIS/Apache server, you can buy cheaper and possibly use your PC as a wireless gateway using IIS in windows. I'm sure somewhere online is a nice little guide for that. When it comes to wireless interference, I have not come across any problems whatsoever unless my laptop is out of range. Since you already have wired LAN as an option, I would assume distance is not an issue, and as such interference is not an issue. You mention wireless is slow, however 802.11g (what the Wii uses) is around 54Mbps. This is half the speed of a standard LAN, and if you're using the internet unless you have internet greater than 54Mbps I doubt this will be an issue whatsoever. For LAN, its possible to make your own crossover cable, though its probably simpler to buy your own. Setting any network up like this pretty much takes the same amount of time regardless of method. Of course this varies..

If you already have a wireless router, you don't have to buy anything to connect your Wii to the internet.

If you don't already have wireless in your house, I say go for the LAN adapter. In my experience, nothing can beat the robustness and stability of cables.

I use a pair of wireless routers. Wii supports 802.11g so the speed shouldn't be that much of an issue, providing that your router isn't ancient (even then Wii can use 802.11b, which is speedy enough for most internet connections). I would probably go for a 802.11g router if I didn't have anything (if one is applicable to your situation). You can use your Wii with it plus if you get a laptop / more machines / new mobile phones / whatever you can just connect them to the internets with the router without much hassle.

God dammit the end cable isn't shaped right for being able to fit into my router, and I would have to disconnect my phone to be able to use it. The trouble Nintendo shaped there phone line wires with the plastic pushy in bit at the top while mines are shaped so that you need to push the plastic at the side, I guess now I need some adapted to overcome this hurdle :(

??? why are you plugging phone line into a router? routers are for ethernet.

A router should have both phone and ethernet ports.

um... no. a modem should have a phone port and an ethernet port, but not a router, unless it's some kind of combination of the two.

If you're talking about DSL- or Cable-Modems: depends on your modem, really. My cable modem connects automatically and assigns the IP address via DHCP. I could plug my Wii in without problems. All DSL connections I've seen so far require authentication, which has to be done by some client - either your PC, or a router. The Wii cannot do that. However, if you have different DSL-modems than we do, it might still work. Basically, if you can connect to the internet through your modem without installing any software or entering any passwords on your PC, the Wii should be able to do the same. But then again, why should you want that?

Just testing... Seeing if I can type using a Wii remote. Although I have butterfingers on the keyboard using a Wii remote is considerably harder and slower, as well as not being able to see what I written 15-20 words ago, any tips?

Typing with the wiimote is troublesome, but you'll start getting really good at it in a short amount of time. The only atrocious part is that you can't drag select in the text fields, which makes quoting certain parts of a post the worst thing ever.

Just wondering is it possible to download AVIs via a Wii, the thing is even if it is possible wouldn't instantly kill all the Wii's memory? Also can you redownload games for free once you've purchased them? I tried playing MK64 using using a Gc controller and Z seems to be assigned to ^c which is entirley illogical, so sadly I have to use a classic controller which is better suited purley becuase of that.

You can deleted your downloaded games and then redownload without paying. You can't download on Wii's Opera. You can watch youtube though.

Both YouTube and Google work apart from a few very rare exceptions, I tried FileFront and you can't watch AVIs off it. I haven't tried any flash games yet. Also is there anyway to configure the controls for Wii games since, the Z button for MK64 is ^C which is entirley illogical meaning that I end up using the classic controller instead.

whatever C^ is (high kick, I imagine) can you go into the controller config inside the game and remap it to whatever button Y is (probably C<-) ?
