Might feel a bit boring at first, until you understand what's the idea of the game. It becomes addictive after that. http://www.xgenstudios.com/game.php?keyword=xenotactic

Seems like a graphically advanced version of this game: http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/ (At the current time of posting this link, the site was down...) It was up a few days ago.

Pretty amusing, for those of played StarCraft, this is a must :P Remember the game Matrix well that's exactly this, except that in this on, the turret don't stop shooting because you have to many of them :P But I can't finish mission 4, I got killed that level 34

Jesus, lv6 is absolutely impossible. Everything else seems like a breeze compared to it. Has anyone cleared it at all? Nice game, though, thanks for informing.

Desktop Tower Defense is a good game.. that aliens thing isn't. Here's why: -No chain buying, you have to reselect the tower each time -No delay for selling, juggling is already too good, you don't need to strengthen it -No sending multiple waves through at once -No notice of fast / immune / splitting / etc enemies or boss levels, or really anything

Boco, it would be nice if you could send a link for the game.

By the way, how are you supposed to kill the Dark thing, nothing seems to hurt them ...

Level 4 or 5 plasma turrets. Stages 3 and 4 are completed easily using like 1/4 of the map with two red plasma turrets in a maze of lv1 vulcan turrets with DCAs made as needed. Stage 5 needs 3+ red plasma turrets positioned optimally and about 6-8 lv3 DCAs (or 3-4 lv4 DCAs and a couple of low level plasma turrets around).

Why do I need to post a link to a game that's linked to by the game you posted and also linked in the first reply to your post?

I'm playing desktop TD right now, and I love TD games... I played them a lot on age of empires 2 (TD games are famous on RTS custom scenarios).

I can't seem to pass level 3. :( EDIT: Got it. Now I got to round 35 in level 4 before expiring... This game is quite lagprone. Talking about Xenophobe.

I reached wave72 on lvl6. Those airships was way too strong for my maze! Here is a screenshot of my maze before I lost: http://img164.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lvl72ry2.jpg I built it like a spiral. It was good against the ground units but I was helpless when fighting air!

(Desktop TD) I reached wave 82 in Fun 10K Gold. Either I'm really bad at this game, or it's really really hard to win. Screenie I went for a design that makes a really long maze, with Pellet towers everywhere, Bash towers at the ends of each straight (optimal position to hit the longest), and some Swarm towers in the center for a better anti-air defense. Still... didn't manage to get further than wave 82. EDIT: Oh, and the towers are all blue because I abused a bug that allows to boost the strength of your towers. In the design phase, place Boost towers near your other towers, upgrade those Boost towers to the maximum, and then sell them. It didn't cost you squat, but the affected towers now do 50% more damage.

my attempt at the 10K game. Failed somewhere around ~85. I should have taken it slower, building those squirt towers earlier, not wasting my money on upgrading before the first level, building a full maze, taking the time to blueify all buildings and most of all putting the swarm towers in the middle. Just showing what an "optimal" position for a bash tower looks like. Also note the added frost towers, they're worth a lot in increasing bash tower damage output. http://www.authmann.de/misc/DesktopTD_10k.jpg

Sheeis. I can't even beat level 2. The towers simply don't do enough damage.

I also reached the 72th wave. Ran into the same problem with the air units that were too strong. Here is my maze: http://xs217.xs.to/xs217/07282/3457347.PNG

That trick doesn't work anymore. The guy(s) fixed it. It seems like this game is being in constant development (their forums are pretty active).

Friend of mine plays something like this as a mod for Warcraft III, except it's multiplayer as 2-man teams.

I just can't figure out what to do in mission 4. Whatever I do, I die. It just doesn't seem possible. I have tried two strategies: 1) Buy a lot of anti-aerial guns. The vast majority of the flying aliens die (1 or 2 slip through), but the ground aliens then get through and I lose: http://warp.povusers.org/snaps/eipysty.png 2) Forget about the anti-aerial guns and hope that the upgraded plasma cannons will kill the flying aliens. Nope, most of them get through and I lose: http://warp.povusers.org/snaps/eipysty2.png I just can't figure out what to do. Whatever I do, I lose. Strategy 1 gets me farther (level 37 vs. 28 in the screenshots), but it just seems impossible nevertheless.

First of all, your turrets aren't powerful enough. One thing that is important about this game is that small amount of red turrets outperform almost any amount of purple, yellow and green turrets. Concentrate your upgrades on 2-3 turrets, so that while you upgrade one, the other(s) keep shooting. The first two waves of aerial units can almost completely be destroyed by lv1 vulcans from one side and your upgraded plasma turrets from another. Shortly after the second aerial wave, build 3-4 DCAs horizontally spread through the center of the map and upgrade at least two of them to lv3 (yellow), and the rest to lv2, then continue investing in plasma upgrades. This way even those aerial units that come from the plasma-upgraded side will be eradicated before they reach DCAs, and the other side's will get finished easily.

Now reached wave 86 on level 6. Obviously air enemies were the problem again. Here is a pic: http://xs217.xs.to/xs217/07283/40608594.PNG (Note that all the enemies at the left aren't really the problem... the air enemies that are about to show up killed me.)

I finally passed map 4 after I realized that the point is not to build long paths for just the long paths' sake, but to make the enemies walk past the same weapons again and again, maximizing their profit ― and also to upgrade a few turrets to full instead of many to middle. Screenshot here: http://bisqwit.iki.fi/kala/snap/xeno4f.jpg Applying these principles, I passed level 5 on my first attempt. In this stage, I also applied the principle of making the enemies walk the same route back and forth by changing the location of the exit hole from the maze. I am happy to have discovered this strategy independently, although I see others have used it as well. Screenshot here: http://bisqwit.iki.fi/kala/snap/xeno5a.jpg I still haven't had need to concentrate fire. You can click on the enemies and all available weapons will concentrate fire on that particular enemy.
