In the spirit of the old Monopoly runs, how about a run that beats 3 classic boardgames through ludicrous luck-manipulation and knowledge? I'll get working on a test run, see what I can do.

Risk I could actually see it being a somewhat good run, being that it involves strategy and luck-manipulation. Battleship would be a VERY bad choice, given your predetermined knowledge of where the computer's pieces lie wouldn't make the run fun. Clue would be kinda the same. You'd know "who, what, and where" right from the get-go. Risk, and Risk only from that trio.

Risk would be interesting to see you luck manipulate dice so that you only take one turn to win. The people over at sillysoft.net will probably love it if its done, as they are always complaining about shitty dice luck (before speedrunning, I was a top ranked risk player over there, the place where the best risk players in the world hang out).

Yay! I was somewhat worried about Risk, as the setup time is maybe 1 minute, but it seems there's very good support of the concept. But, due to slow progress and a rather busy day, I'm going to stretch the WIP deadline 6 hours. On another note, there is Clue alone for SNES, which might be interesting in its sheer speed (Probably under 25 seconds)

Well, at least I could download and watch the .smv. I found it a rather interesting movie, but seeing as Clue is my favourite "true" board game (many consider Chess not a board game), it would be more interesting to me. It would win if there were a competition for "shortest AVI" on TASvideos. And by the way, don't call me Chalame.

Whoa, I gotta check that out soon. Anyway, it turns out that the game's RNG is much stiffer than I had hoped, every roll is set at the start of a battle. However, I already luck-manipulated the toughest battle (7, in Siam) so this should be pretty smooth from now on. First-turn domination is impossible, you have 3 troops too few if you have only 1 soldier on every map square. On a philosophical note, should this run be called "Chamale's Risk, Battleship, and Clue in [time]", or "Chamale's Risk in [time]"? Personally, I prefer the second, but idk what I should do exactly. EDIT: I didn't realize this game has cards. I hope this doesn't mean backtracking. ENCORE: No, it won't

Risk gives you a cards which can be used to get extra troops. You can get rid of 3 cards at a time, but they have to be either: 1 - All the same type 2 - One of each type How many troops you get is dependent on if you control the land on the card or not. So it may or may not help you, I just haven't played Risk for a while to tell you how fast you can get enough cards to get extra troops for massive takeover.

Cards don't matter. You don't have any on turn 1, and you win on turn 2. Here's the fairly-close-to-optimal (as far as menus and LM goes) WIP. 2 minutes. My plan from here is to conquer all Africa and South America, then from Yakutsk go Kamchatka>Japan>Mongolia. Then from Yakutsk conquer all Asia and Europe. The game will be won on turn 2, after little action (hopefully) in the 3 enemy territories left.

Allow me to say: My luck is fucking HORRIBLE. I've done 125 different frame-starts for the Ural-Ukraine fight (only the frame at which the fight starts affects the RNG) and nothing has worked yet. I'll keep trying, though.

Looks good so far. Keep in mind that even though you cant win on turn one, make sure all territories you dont control have only 1 army on them so that they cant attack, making the movie shorter.

Either way, its entertaining enough to be worth a 5 minute movie. Might not be the hottest shit on the block, but should turn out to be a solid submission.

Wait a minute. The opponent gets to place a few troops. Maybe it would be best to have Red attack Green, and vice-versa, so I have no major opposition left when the second turn starts.

Correct. In the rules of Risk, at the start of your turn you get troops determined by how many countries you control, and if you control an entire continent you get bonus troops (how many varies depending on which continent you control).

Not a bad idea, but a few things-- Even if you cant win on turn one, you may be able to eliminate one of them, meaning that your opponents get only 3 armys total, rather then each getting 3, for a total of 6. Also, it may take several tries to manipulate the AI into placeing its 3 armies, but choosing to attack minimally, or not at all.

Would it be better to have the three remaining nations spread across different continents, so that you'll have less additional troops to place round 2?

Well, the troops can be placed at a rate of 30 hertz, which means the few extra troops aren't worth all the cursor time.
