This is a TAS of the n64 classic "The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time". It is the first run (that I know of) that is under 2 hours and the first run that uses the "Reverse Bottle Adventure Glitch" which is what made this time possible. Using this glitch you can instantly update something in your inventory or quest item sub-screen.

This is my first submission if I left something out of these comments let me know.

Bisqwit: Congratulations on your first TAS movie. I believe you gained a lot of experience in the making of it. However, as many audience members have pointed out, this movie is lacking in a few aspects we keep important. Compared to the published movie, it does not do as good job following the guidelines, such as "never wait for anything unless absolutely necessary", even though it completes the game faster due to new techniques.
As you already have realized yourself, part of it is because you did not use frame advance in the making of this movie.
As such, because this movie does not really represent well the quality we uphold on this site, and because the votes cast on this submission are not significantly in favor of publishing it, I am rejecting this submission.
I wish you good luck for your next TAS work, but I recommend you gather experience from some less demanding TAS project first.

Disagree... The current run was highly entertaining to me, as was this one. This one would have been even more entertaining to me if I hadn't seen the published one first. Maybe I'm a total dork but I wrote 20x more than that for my pathetic-in-comparison 8 minute run of an obscure NES game ;) Raiscan wrote a longer complaint than the submisson! But seriously, whatever your name is, great run, I liked it a lot.

The problem is, that a lot of the members who vote on this site are familiar with the tricks and glitches that are used (or not used) in this game. FYI, the first movie was a test run that grew better optimized as the levels went by. It was known to be quite unoptimal before the author (and the community who rallied behind him) submitted it. That was partly due to the nature of the game. It is long, and doesn't hex edit well. A lot of the tricks used later in the run were not used initially. I guess I was a bit harsh when I said the first run was not entertaining. I was entertained by the first run mainly because it was a completed OOT run. We finally had a benchmark to create future optimized OOT runs. This run (the one being submitted) give the user a great view of the routes that could/will be taken in a future optimized version (unless some other discoveries are made), so it's very similar to Guano's run in that aspect, except with a solid route. We published a test-run of this game before, why not do it again? ;)

The difference between the published run and this one, is that when guano's was unoptimized at the start, it was because he wasn't aware of the timesaving tricks, not because he was too lazy to rerecord when he a trick didn't work on the first try due to improper setup.

OK, I agree that this movie and the last one were unoptimized. And I guess this one is "lazy". But, outside the context of the hardcore TASers (that's you reading this forum for the most part) this and the last movie are absurdly fast and, in my opinion, awesome. When a better movie comes along, great, but in the mean time I think this should obsolete the current run (unless a new movie is going to be available in the near future... last time I checked the latest WIP was still just going to gerudo land for the first time? I think it'll be a while)

The only part that stood out to me was the weird/random bombings, and those didn't really detract from the run overall for me. Obviously, to the trained eye there is more but for most people visiting this site this is a great run. In any event, I am really looking forward to a "perfect" version of this :) Of course, "perfect" movies here are improved all the time...

Sorry, but this gets a no vote from me. It was just way too unoptimized and I could find various things that I'm pretty sure I could've done faster on a console. I suggest that you try again and give it more time, you can probably whip up something nice if you really try.

I'm kinda torn from the start before I even watch this movie. I HATED the last run of this game because of all the backward walking. Faster or not this may be, it's highly annoying...you don't even get to see anything. Pretty much 2 hours of watching the back of links head. With that said I think I will watch this movie...perhaps someone should make the "entertaining version" of this game by making "no backward walking" a rule. XD EDIT: It desyncs for me too, but I think mostly because I didn't get the right version. Oh well. I was already sick of Links head...

by the way, this syncs no matter what plugin you use if you use the antidesync version of mupen thanks to okaygo. I've only watched up to first-time gerudo fortress and while I agree with most people that it is very suboptimal (the random backflip where nothign is collected in the boulder rolling area of kokiri forest comes to mind, as well as 2 forward rolls followed by a backwalk, all in the same direction when the gerudo gorge/chasm/whatever is crossed). However it's clear that it is a TAS played well in certain areas with frame advance, and many rerecords, leaving other stuff probably done at reduced speed... unless something becomes glaringly awful as I continue to watch it, I will vote yes.

I voted no. To me, it's very obvious that this is NOT optimal. There were a lot of places that I went "What the hell? .. why did he do it like this?" or similar reactions. For the first time in my life, I found myself saying "God, I wish the guy used more backwalking". It just felt unoptimal... I can't say yes to that. On an unrelated note, this topic has become home of a few new "Most Popular Excuses", like these 2: - "When a better movie comes along, great, but in the mean time I think this (unoptimized movie) should obsolete the current run" - "We published a test-run of this game before, why not do it again?" Those would be a great addition to that page.

When enough of these excuses are added, there will be no reasons to publish a movie anymore.

Voting meh on this... not doing a certain glitch somewhere doesn't bother me that much, if the rest is optimized... but it was too appearant throughout the run that stuff could be optimized, which took away some of the entertainment value for me.

first i thought well so much faster, it will be a yes from me but - after i saw you fail doing some tricks and did redo them or anything else i cant vote other then NO i did not care much about the unoptimized stuff because the movies is faster at all even if you did not make everysingle move perfect - but failing the third superslide in the movie (shortly before you go to the gerudos for the second time) was the hella no iam sorry

Unable to watch it without desync, what I've seen so far looked much like guanobowl's run, but with longer pauses after climbing things, and occasional failures to perform glitches (The first superslide, for instance, doesn't start until the second attempt). Voting Meh.

Does Mupen even have a built-in screenshot function? It seems that suggested screenshots are always larger and/or blurry, as though they were taken by some other method, like printscreen+paint.

Voting no. This movie is far too sub-optimal. And besides, Guano is already working on one, and his progress is very optimal. And yes, there's an option to take screen shots in mupen. "Run > Generate Bitmap".

liked this run. why should I vote no nly because "some guy" who is more well known in this forum is already working on a better run? I mean, this IS still faster. so dont cry, if guano ever finishes his run this will (might) be obsoleted yes vote

If by workiing on you mean restarting every 3 months when something new is found, then yes he is working on it.

Unoptimized as it is, it's still faster than the published run. The fact that it's unoptimized just means that it will be easier for other runs to overtake it. Until those are made, though, this is all we have. Voted yes.
